spaceace12 Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 Beech Bend Park and Splash Lagoon -- an amusement park in Bowling Green, Ky.-- has bid $210,000 for the Wave Swinger and $89,000 for the Flying Scooter. Both proposed sales await Nugent's approval. http://www.kansas.com/news/local/story/215588.html
CoasterFanatic Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 ^ I hope that is a new Larson Scooter. If not, they got ripped.
coaster05 Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 I would rather they spen money on landscaping, but a couple new rides could help. That place just has too much of a fair feel to me, other then rumbler of course.
Wes Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 ^ Seriously. The park feels like a bad county fair that just happens to have an awesome coaster. Every other ride there is terrifying, especially that drop ride and Oscar The Rape Octopus.
coaster05 Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 That drop ride is F'ed up. By far the scariest drop tower I have ever been on. Freaking Larry talked me into it. Most of my bad flat decisions involve Larry.
Primogen18 Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 http://tinyurl.com/2jk7j6 (interesting home video of the shock drop) It doesn't really stop at all at the top, or do any sort of "bounce" at the bottom, looks kinda fun tho... I would imagine if Knoebels were to get a drop tower it would be like that probably. This park has so many flats, I'm glad they are expanding like this but I agree it needs SOME landscaping, especially with how nice the Rumbler area looks.
thrillerman1 Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Yes Shock Drop is one of *the* best drop rides in the world. I'd consider it right up there with Blue Fall at Sea Paradise and Rebellion from Libertyland (now at GTiTS). The Fabbri and ARM ones scare me to death...and I love it. Hmm...BB already had a smaller swing ride, so I wonder if the Wave Swinger will replace it or if they'll keep both. I love the thought of Flying Scooters being only an hour away from me. Let's hope they'll run them in insane snapping mode. I'll be there next month for the Christmas event.
DBru Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 I wouldn't mind Beech Bend replacing the "Jitter Bug" with a wave swinger. To me, it seems they are slowly trying to move away from the "Huge County Fair" look.
Axman Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 ^ They are. I was there in May, and they were taking much pride in the Sizzler ride, which had just received a cement foot print and wooden guard rails. I looked really nice. I'm excited to hear about these new rides. I'm positive that both of them will get nice foot prints a wooden guard rails, just like Sizzler. Shock Drop is totaly excellent. I don't care how carnival-ish it may seem. It rocks ass.
DATman Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 Shock Drops are insane! They had one at Conejo Valley Days (for people in the TO, SoCal area), and it blew me away. It looks really tame, but it gives one of the biggest rushes ever!
