Hersheypark Announces Fahrenheit!

First time Poster, long time lurker...

 

Actually, The Chain Dog is the part of the train that connects to the actual chain on the lift hill. The Anti-rollbacks are the "notches" if you will that are built into the lift track, If i'm not mistaken.

 

I believe I also read that it will indeed have two lift chains, one that acts as the lift and one that acts as the anti-rollback unit, to catch and hold the train if a problem occurs.

Correct., the coaster will have 2 chains. The diagrams for the ride show 2 hydraulic motors for 2 different chains, with a generator backup to power the lift system in case of an electrical interuption.

So if the power fails, the second lift will have a generator or something as back-up?

Yes, there will be a generator as part of the back up system to operate the lifts.

so no one knows why the construction is at a standstill? or what else could they be working on

I you look closely, it seems they've connected the final banked curve to the brake run in the last day or so. It's hard to see on the the webcam

I work very close to Hershey. One day next week I'll drive by with my camera and see if I can get a few shots.

That last webcam shot (^^^) shows that the final curve is connected to the track and that the lift is almost complete. If you look to the left of the lift, the last piece is hooked up to a crane.

From what I heard, there was supposed to be a media tour and a "topping off" ceremony at the park today. So you all may see some pictures pop up on Coasterdom soon.

As I mentioned last night, there was a tour that went on yesterday. Sadly due to high wind conditions they were not able to top the coaster off as planned. You can check out the whole update here.

That webcam is driving me crazy! Straighten it out!!!

 

But at least work is going pretty quickly on this. I hope the Norwegian loop/ cobra roll portion of the ride will look as good as the first part is looking. I really thought the ride was pretty ugly in the concept art, but this is turning out pretty well.
