Tmcdllr Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 ^Forgot about gravity didnt you. If the flume was above you or "inverted" as you say, how then would the water stay in it?
TexTitan01 Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 ^I think that was a joke, as some people call it  My money is on either a Dive Machine to one up Griffon, or a mini-Floorless similar to daemonen, maybe a little bigger, with more oomf. Eitherway, Hershey needs something to combat Hydra @ Dorney, not like thats much of a task...
DerekRx Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 ^Hershey has Trailblazer to compete with Hydra... Â Â ...as most boring coaster in Pennsylvania
Ccron10 Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 According to Screamscape, the Nantomi site is a fake. This means that next year's additon could be greater or smaller than $12.1million and that the ride won't be called Tsunami. (8/27/07) Lots of wild and fake rumors are going around for Hersheypark, claiming to know what they are building next year. Best of all, it seems someone has gone out of their way to create what appears to be a fake website design company who claims to have signed a contract with Hersheypark to build a site for the new attraction. The funny part is that the design company’s name (Nantimi) is actually an anagram for Intamin. So for the time being, since there is an effort out there to push so much fake information, the best thing to do is just sit and wait them out for a bit.
Homer Posted August 28, 2007 Author Posted August 28, 2007 Kudos to the person that had people fall for it, got me good, though I was suspicious of the Intamin anagram in the first place.
Reon Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 I can totally see that chutes area going away. They just installed their little mega-waterpark this year, so why keep their randomly placed slide tower there? I havent been to Hershey for 3 years, so I'm a bit hazy on the other placement. However, I have come to a conclusion: Â Intamin Dive Machine. Â As someone said before (too lazy to go back and quote the post), Intamin tends to expiriment with new coasters all the time. Also, if Intamin were to do a dive machine, it would get around the BG contract, reguardless of how real or imaginary it actually is. Â As for spacial issues, they could easily make a steep cable lift ala MF, then make a transition into the main verticle drop. Â Â Â Finally, Aquatrax. Â Â (BTW, post 900)
okinawaboy11 Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Apparently the people over on CoasterBuzz have "inside" sources (Not dippin dots workers, but mechanics & managers) that are all saying Maverick-esque clone. I'm saying this now, I'll believe it when I see it. Â Also, Perfect Ten is surfing lingo...Larger wave pool anyone?
CoasterEricHP Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 I can see something like Maverick but they're really going to have to make this thing go over pathways and around other rides. It's definately going to be interesting. I'd put money down on a Eurofighter. Â Eric
Ccron10 Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 ^Not really, they could build in the parking lot behind it, if so, let's hope it's not a parking lot coaster! lol
CoasterEricHP Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 That parking lot has been rumored to go for a few years so maybe. Now that I look at it I think they could build a Maverick type ride and either take out Canyon River Rapids or build over it..  Here's a quick map of where the ride might go.  Purple = waterslides being demolished  Blue = Parking lot  Red = Canyon River Rapids  Or maybe it could be both areas!

It's called viral marketing, look it up.  The name Tsunami, the wave imagery, and the surfing connection aren't inconsistent with a Maverick-type coaster. Think of the profile of the 95-degree drop as a wave curling over.
yankees15 Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Also over at cousterbuzz.com they said the ride will have a vertical lift of 121 feet and a 95 degree drop, but I don't buy any of it until the announcement is made.
Tanks4me05 Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 ^^Here's a park map with all the approximate areas of the sitings of the markers. Here's where all of them have been spotted...-Minetown -Around the Claw -Possibly behind the Claw in the parking lot. -All around Western Chute Out - Behind Canyon River Rapids near the Railroad Crossing. -By Tidal Force -There's also been talk about seeing them also out by the Merry Derry Dip Fun Slides. If anyone sees any in the area near Trailblazer, then this coaster could have a very long circuit. It also seem likely that this ride could have a height near or over 200ft. Â I wonder how it would be for a diving machine to do a zero-g-roll, loop, or corkscrew? Â Holy crap, that land plot is HUGE! I wonder, maybe it could be a Giga... just throwing ideas around.
CoasterEricHP Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 If all of the information that is "leaked" is true then it all points to a Eurofighter. Just slap on some light blue/dark blue paint and you have a surf theme... although if the station is by the current waterslides it's not really in the Boardwalk area of the park. Â 95 degree drop and a vertical lift is all Eurofighter, and 12.1 million (listed on the nantimi page) is a relatively low price tag considering Maverick cost 21 million, and Mystery Mine cost 17.5. Take out Mystery Mine's extensive theming and you're probably looking at 13 million? Â Plus, these coasters take up a relatively small footprint. I havent been to Hershey since they started putting marks on the ground, but I really DOUBT anything is going to go all over the park like the one map on here. Â I dont really believe in the dippin dots person but Oct 2nd is so far away!! Â Eric
CoasterEricHP Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 I'm bored waiting for class so here's a quick rendering of what I think we'll see. This is loosely based off the Eurofighter "Speed: No Limits". It starts by the waterslides, heads to the Playdome Arcade which is in desperate need of being ripped out and back. It doesnt require any backstage buildings to be torn down and doesnt go over any pathways. Â What do you think? Â EDIT: After doing some more research the Euro Fighter going in at the Mall of America is only like $3 million! It's only a couple hundred feet shorter than Mystery Mine, so for a $12 million dollar Euro Fighter it'd be a lot more than what my picture has.. probably a second lift and some other elements elsewhere.
bigstevet07 Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 I don't know about a Eurofighter. Hershey doesn't seem to put in just ok coasters lately. (Boomerang aside) I think they will try to come with something great. I'm leaning toward something new, like the Intamin dive machine.
DerekRx Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Something tells me it's not a Eurofighter, and I'm still leaning towards Intamin, especially how they've had a good history with them regarding Storm Runner. I don't know where this "vertical lift" talk and 95 degree drop is coming from, but Maverick does has a beyond vertical drop, and Intamin could have thrown a vertical lift into the equation. Maverick may have cost a lot of money, but how much of that is because of the LSMs and theming? Have a chain lift or elevator lift and I'm sure you can knock off a nice chunk of change.
CoasterEricHP Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Yeah that's true Derek.. the LSM's and theming cost a few million and even a similar ride with a shorter layout would be perfect for Hershey. Â I wonder what an Intamin vertical lift and the train design for that would look like. Hmmmm...
FeelTheFORCE Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Whatever it is, I;m sure it will be pretty good, because it certainly sounds like it. Maybe it will be a B&M dive coaster, but be the first one with a more than 90 degree drop.
natatomic Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Whatever it is, I;m sure it will be pretty good, because it certainly sounds like it. Maybe it will be a B&M dive coaster, but be the first one with a more than 90 degree drop. Â Maybe it's just me, but I feel like dive machines are more of a gimmick than a brilliant coaster idea. Sure, they're fun the first time, but I think - similar to rides like TTD and KK - they focus way too much on one element and the rest of the ride (or lack there of, since these coasters are some of the shortest out there) greatly suffers. Â Unless they add on a LOT more to the dive machine concept and make an attempt for a better all-around coaster, I will be a bit disappointed if it's just another dive machine. I mean, we've already got two on the east coast, and I don't think 5 degrees beyond vertical is a big enough improvement when the ride lacks, IMHO, length, variety, and rerideability (sp? Is that even a word?).
CoasterEricHP Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Rerideability.. Hmm.. I think its a word! At least in our world. Â I havent been on Griffon yet, but I agree think that Sheikra, which I think is a decent ride, is missing something that makes it a "WOW" ride. I dont know if that's length or lack or elements or what... Â I dont think that this is going to be the huge breakthrough ride that everyone thinks it will be. Here's a quote from an interview with the CEO of Hersheypark/HERCO: Â "We don't want to take it to the point where we're trying to be the tallest, fastest, the extreme edge of the way some parks have gone. We've always been about families, and so building a 200-foot roller coaster that is a plunge roller coaster would not be something that we would want to consider" Â Of course he could be telling us what is next right there too?!
Reon Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 *repeats self until it gets stuck in everyone's head* Â Intamin divemachine Intamin divemachine Intamin divemachine.... Â Now with 200' drop and verticle cable lift.
FeelTheFORCE Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 An Intamin Dive Machine would be interesting, and has a ton of potential if they do it right. If it is one, I am curious to see whta the trains would look like. I still wouldn't mind a Maverick-esque coaster or a Eurofighter, though.
ttu Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Just got back from the park today, The Western Chute Out was closed and looked to be in the process of removal. The slides were still intact but the wood supports on the midway side were missing. The orange markings seem to go behind the virtual theater and behind Rodeo (by the train tracks. After that, the trail seems to cross the path over by CRR and follows back next to park avenue. I couldnt follow it from there on. There was also markings in front of the catering pavillions (tidal Force & Canyon River) and all over the WCO complex. It's gonna be a nice size ride, whatever it is.
Reon Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 ^Intamin can make-sized ride. They can also make verticle drops. I wonder if they'd make a verticle drop coaster?......
