Has anyone else been to new pleasure land?

I popped up today to see after reading about it online...

All that is there, what it seems to me is, a group of travelling fairs have joined up to bring one large fair on the old site but called it NEW Pleasureland, lol....

The sad part is, there is still a lot of Pleasureland there. All the buildings are still standing but have been completely demolished inside all of them and await to be refurbished. The fun house, after being gutted traumatically (no pun intended of traumatizer) is starting to be rebuilt into just a "safe" kids play area with no original features left (wheel, bowl, moving stairs, rolling tube). One of the workers in there who was very nice, let me in with my cam and was telling me a little about whats gonna be happening which you'll see in the pics, but i was also told to say that "the fun house is reopening SATURDAY 26th JULY!" so come and play and I bring to you

First I'll bring you the sad photos of what once was is now no more.

Casablanca and the car park entrance

fancy a drink in ricks bar...

the pleasure land entrance sign still remains but...

Amanda, take note

so after the FREE ENTRY!!! we are met with this...

the "park" was so dead, hardly anyone around at all for wht was a nice day in the summer holidays...

slightly wrong, seeing as that is now at London castle...

see, very dead.

now, just as i said before, i thought this was a bunch or carny fairs, i guess there's not gonna be any more proof than...

station still standing for some reason...

right, so after we now know that what was pleasure land is dead, carneys have taken over, some hope comes shining through for the land. many of these are around, which can only mean one thing:-

yep, that's right, RIDES... so i show you all the new attractions (which i might like to add, there are more now than have ever been at south port!)

dog workers are cheap.

see, not only one worker dog...

so there you have it, the new pleasure land south port. you can make your own minds up if this is an improvement on the old, but with free entry and rides costing no more than £2, who can complain, and seeing as more rides should be coming (rumour is a looping star is coming)

i would recomend to all, go there just to see whats happend, whats left and remoniss about what once was is now no longer

Nice TR and thanks for the photo's!

BUT:

3. SPELL CHECK YOUR POSTS!!!! There is a completely FREE spell checker available with the Google toolbar. A typo here and there is completely acceptable. We all are guilty of this. But when someone can't READ your post due to bad spelling, grammar, lack of capitalization, all caps (in posts OR thread titles) etc, that's a problem. If you aren't a good speller (and I totally admit I would be lost without my spellchecker) download it now: http://toolbar.google.com/

Just a hint

So wait, is this just a long stay carnival, or did someone set up a lot of carnival rides and reopen it as a park? You said it is run by a traveling fair company, but this seems really large for something that isn't a well established festival like Munich's Oktoberfest.(that's the spelling) Whatever the case, they need to get some people there because Wild West World got larger crowds than that.

Airtime&Gravity :-

I didn't say it was run by one fair company, i think it might be a few that have got together to make one park, ride cables have been tarmacked into the ground. Poorly I might add, they are a trip hazard as I tripped a couple of times. I think it must be some form of permanent fair but with land rights for lodging for the ops, hence the caravans....

It has been spell checked thanks, and indeed (Thanks wes), why be a backseat mod, and does it particularly matter, there's not much text there, you don't need to read.

Thanks for posting the pics!

I'm very pleased to see that something was done with the old site of Pleasureland.

Interesting thing is, when I first visited the park in 1995 or '96 I believe that Blackpool did not own all of it, and there were quite a few ride operators that had rides in place (Silcock I believe was one of them).

It almost seems as though Pleasureland has reverted back to it's roots from long ago.

Does it seem to be thriving? Or is it too hard to tell with the insanely poor weather the UK has gotten this year?

Personally, with rides like Megaspin, the Frisbee, Bouncy Bouncy, etc, I actually think I'd be MORE interested in this new version of Pleasureland!

Thriving, hmmm, well it hasnt been open for very long, and is technically still being built up. Weather has been terrible this summer but the north hasnt really had it as bad as the south. On one website i was on, it had only been opened on that day, and then was empty of people, as it was when I went today, however when was it busy before????

Bouncy Bouncy was funny to see the 3 girls on it, I dont think they really enjoyed it as much as they thought coz seemed to be bouncing them a lot, lol....

^What is that structure going to be from the looks of it thats brand new steel. Any ideas what it will be?

Thanks for the pics i'm assuming that only because of the weather and the fact it hasn't been open that long, i'm sure if the weather picks up a bit and they advertise they will do quite well.

^ Thats just whats left from an old building. A shop I think, Im not sure. I cant quite remember. If you look closely, you can still see parts of the drain pipes that ran down from the guttering still on the uprights.

New Pleasureland Southport looks so...Un-pleasure!It looks much like they just "Hey,let`s put some carnival rides in an construction ground to earn some pounds, and don`t care if it all looks crappy",they should have thinked about it before they done this!

Great TR of the New Pleasureland.

Yeah looked a bit empty in those photos, but I remember seeing the shots from last weekend and there was a good crowd there. Once the word has spread and the weatehr improves I'm sure it will be much busier.

I'm wondering if they are going to build permanent attractions to replace the travelling rides once they have been removed after the season, or will the land be used to just to house travelling funfairs .

But I think they have done a good job so far, but its still not a match to the original Pleasureland.
