Today I went to this parking lot carnival that was set up in front of some super market. My friends and I went and the only two major rides they had was a Round-Up and a Gravitron. So we rode both of them even though these rides make me insanely sick and we started argueing on which was better.

So I'm asking TPR to help me figure which one is better. Round-Ups, or Gravitrons. There basically the same ride but the Round-Up tilts.

Gravitrons have a little more freedom. You can ride them sideways or upside down. And the music kicks ass inside the ship.

Uh you forgot Rotors Those are fun too and are what Gravitrons originated from.

Gravitron all the way! Usually good music, more freedom to move around. I still like them even though several years when I was riding one at a ghetto fair in Wisconsin the inside started filling up with smoke and we had to be evacuated.

The rotor at SFMM is toned down so much that it doesn't spin fast enough for you to stick to the wall when the floor goes down. It's just barely fast enough. The floor on that only drops out about one foot or so. Now if it had the speed of a Gravitron, that would be my favorite.

I chose the gravitron.

They are just a lot more fun to be in.

Usually good music and you can ride upside down.

Cant do that on a round up.

(Also, It always feels like I can fall out of a round up)

Both are good in their own ways, in my opinion. SCBB's roundup, Cyclone, I found to be pretty forceful. The tilting is very disorienting as you're looking 45* downward and suddenly looking 45* upward. The county fair's Gravitron was fun as well as the op in the middle had his bird perched on his shoulder and was squirting us with his squirt gun. Also, we were laying sideways, upside down, up at the top, etc.

Depends on the rules, but most of the time I'd root for a Gravitron. Much more freedom, and the forces are INSANE. And I speak as an operator of a Super Round Up (One with 42 seats) that I run as a long and forceful program.

Gravitron's are fun, but I voted for Round Up because of the open air feeling and the sights and sounds of the midway all around. As was stated earlier, where was the Rotor? Anyone remember the Time Shaft from Kings Dominion?

Gravitrons are some of my least favorite rides, since I always feel so uncomfortable on them. I don't like the way that those rides position you with your head back to make the blood rush to your head. It is like being held upside down while having someone stand on your chest so you can't breathe. It's just too intense for me. The Round Up rides are still pretty intense, but at least I feel like I can breathe while riding them.

I love gravitrons. I love how you can have the freedom to flip yourself upside down and ride it. Much more intense, IMO. Usually, at the OC Fair, the music they play is awesome to. Nothing is better than spinning around, upside down, and listening to techno music.

While Gravitrons seem more forceful, have the lights, the music, etc...my vote is going for the Round Up.

I like the fact that it tilts up and is open air. There's also that wierd side to side movement that you get as you spin at full height that I enjoy.

That said I tend to like the classic Round Up more than the Super Round Up because they seem to go higher on the incline (if that makes sense). Granted the only Super Round Up I have ridden is Grider Gearworks at SFMM, but it didnt seem to go as high.

If I had to rank them I'd put...

4. Rotor

3. Super Round Up

2. Gravitron

1. Round Up

Finally, one thing that always worried me about the Gravitron was the whole possibility the walls blowing out and me being flung to my death. I remember seeing a news story about it when I was a kid and that pretty much scared me away from them (even though I have ridden them since).
