Shockwave
Kings Island just seemed a big let down to me. It looked so good when I was getting into rollercoasters for the first time. I don't think Cedar Fair are really to blame for many of the problems at Kings Island. Paramount were looking to offload the whole chain for several years, and during that time they probably didn't devote enough TLC to their parks as they would have otherwise. Cedar Fair are now picking up the pieces, but I don't think they are the right people to make it a great park. They'll certainly iron out the current problems, but it still won't be the park that it should be. But enough of that. Because what you are about to witness is probably the best update of the trip. Part 14 - The White Castle Challenge! After we'd finished at Kings Island, Ian said that if we saw a White Castle on the way to Sandusky, we'd pull of the freeway and go crazy. So with only a few miles to go before out turn off, we saw a White Castle just off the Interstate. We pulled off, and here's what happened. Thanks for reading. Stand by your bathrooms. And here's our own White Castle castle to prove it. But after 30 minutes and 10 burgers later, we had done it! If not for ourselves, then for the poor clearners who would have to scrub the toilet bowl at our hotel. We did cheat slightly by taking the pickles out. But I wasn't going to be defeated by some bitesize slyders. Into burger No.8, and I was feeling the burn. At the halfway point, things were looking good. Ian quickly moved ahead. And we're off! We set ourselves a target of ten burgers each. The fries and onion rings weren't included because A) This was my first time at White Castle. B) We didn't want to spend the last 4 days in America on the toilet. We were about to see what everyone in the Midwest was talking about. But for us, it was our greatest challenge of the whole trip! For anything else, this would be a fairly innocuous turning.
RIP Psyclone
The fries and rings were consumed too, though, right? Otherwise, as Le Chiffre in Casino Royale said: "Such a waste!"
spaceace12
White Castle, I need to go get some sometime. The closest one si 45 minutes away. I am craving one now (get it?).
moinab
So many great captions... I think my favorite is the fascist Santa wave! Random thoughts: I really want to go to Dollywood. I lived in MN for 10 years, and FL for 6 years (so far,) and have never been to White Castle or Krystal! Mmmmmm...pickles... I'll be sad when this TR is complete. 307
Aw man, 10 slyders? That's terrible, I couldn't even handle four Those things are gross. Did they have the rock 'em sock 'em robots running on Adventure Express' second lift hill?!
Divv3k
I've finally caught up with this TR after getting back from my own trip! Good stuff as always, Tom. I pretty much agree with most of what you've said, although I really did have a great day at Holiday World. Really wish I had worked out a way to get Dollywood into my trip somehow! bgwfreak
LOL You know I never had issues with WC until last year in St Louis. I don't know if it was just that one restaurant or what. But that night at Holiwood Nights my stomach was talking back to me all night, course riding Voyage probably didn't help. But I only rode 2 times that night I think. I like their cheeseburger or double cheeseburgers, can't remember which. Oh and if you ever make it back across the pond, avoid Krystal Burgers. They are a terrible ripoff of WC and they suck IMO. Part 15 - The end of the road...Cedar Point, Kennywood and Geauga Lake (briefly). The last few days in America really flew by, and my camera finally stopped working properly. So here's just a selection of photos from the last three days. I'll let the pictures tell the story..Thanks for bearing with me while I got the photos up. Thanks for reading! We took one last go on Maverick that night. This pretty much sums this place up. Let's leave. Now how the hell did we end up at Geauga Lake? A lot of airtime. One of favourite rides ever. That drop. A seriously great ride. And now it's off to Big Phantom. That kids looks genuinely terrified. Marcus and I couldn't turn down some whorage! Better than Cedar Point's. Coaster geeks. Thunderbolt didn't open till later in the day, but we got a ride in when it did. The park was really packed out today! Jack Rabbit was good fun. Best spinning mouse ever! Next day was at Kennywood. And what an awesome park! The group at the end of the day. Justin and Tay are ready to go. And then it was back to Dragster for a ride. Gemini also had the courtesy ride treatment. Skyhawk got a token go. Millenium Force got a couple of goes. And they liked it! Taylor and Steve go for a ride. After getting all the stuff we needed, we hit the Intamins. I got my third stolen kid credit of the trip. Only Cedar Fair could make a Roller Skater this bland. An awesome way to hit 400 credits. Generic Corkscrew shot #101. There goes Ian! B&M No.2 of the day. There's better rides, there's worse rides, this one fits right in the middle. Raptor was next. Sadly, Martin Lawrence was nowhere to be seen. First up, Blue Streak. Time to get some missing credits.
Divv3k
Excellent Tom. Good to see a few more familiar faces in there too. I wholeheartedly agree with your feelings on Kennywood. Erik Johnson
Awesome Tom. Now that you have finished both your Midwest and California Photo TR's, you can go back to finish your Florida/Georgia one from '06. Mmmmmmmm.....Kennywood.

Scaparri
Again, Awesome TR, Tom. I'm a bit disappointed it's complete! Looks like it was a flippin' awesome trip though. And it's good to see you fully appreciate the awesomeness that is Phantom's Revenge. That ride just continues to blow my mind. The huge curving first drop, the ginormous drop into the abyss, the insane airtime. If only it were just a little longer! It's amazing though. Glad you had a good time stateside.
