El Toro opening Vs May 29th

Today my wife (Jill) and I were kid free for a few hours. We don’t dump are kids on anyone so it’s a rare moment. We started are day on El Toro, which opened with the park with 2 trains. We waited a total of 6 mins. It’s the first time I’ve waited in the queue. I was lucky enough to get a few rides at last years press day and that’s the last time I’ve ridden it. Jill and I took the very backseat. I rode the seat a few times and preferred seat over the others. But I do know there truly isn’t a bad seat on the ride.

The lift was as fast as ever. I think it’s faster then Rolling Thunder  Down the first drop you can here the up stop wheels hit the track. To me that’s saying this first drop is STEEP! This coaster truly needs its upstop wheels or it would spell disaster. The out run was filled with all the air I remember and then some. The turn around was much faster but was a little bumpy. But I think the bumpiness gave it some true wood coaster qualities. On to the straight away, this was the only part I thought the coaster really slowed and I thought they could have done something better. Well that was last year. I was surprised with air not but once but twice. The crossover hill was just as crazy as ever and the finally S turns were intense and amazing. The proof was us flying into the brake run when last year we crawled over the last hills. El Toro has truly broken in.

Just a reminder, there is an ACE Preservation Con in August 4-5, 2007, and they are serving up late night ERT on El Toro from 11:00pm to 12:00am.

This Con includes Coney Island which after this year will never be the same.

There is an El Toro thread already, so perhaps you should have posted this in there.

On the contrary, El Toro was about the same in the back last year (middle of summer) as you described it this year.

Sorry I don't normally read all the threads. I on;y have a few mins a day to myself.

Why the heck did Ofelia eat grapes anyway?

If this thread can provide nothing else for the members of TPR who think there should only be 1 thread for every coaster, I'll sum it up for you in these simple words:

"This proves that Intamin woodies work wonders for parks that can't maintain their woodies for the life of them!"

Look at El Toro after almost a year, still riding exactly the same, and most likely with very little work done in the offseason. Had Great Adventure gotten The Voyage, it would probably be laying in pieces in the lake. For parks that don't want much hassle with a wood coaster, but want a wood coaster, dial 1-800-INTAMIN.

Thanks for the review, Bret. Glad you finally got back on it, although I am saddened that you live 10 minutes from the park and haven't been back since last year. Puts a serious halting on any desire I have to procreate anytime soon

After my rides in early Spring I was somewhat worried about the Thunder hill losing its punch, apparently that was all just because of the cold weather, really looking forward to getting back on it now that it's warm out again.

El Toro rules, I loved it, couldn't ride it enough. Donkey's are ok but the Bull is awesome. That first drop riding in the back is like one of those insane rollercoasters from the Simpsons.

I think it was because she was hungry. Remember, her step-father was not treating her so well. Still, I would think the Pale One would of ruined her appetite.

And speaking of El Toro and its second season, and I can safely say that I was on the first train of the '07 season. This was after waiting an hour while some electrical problems were cleared out...

She was probably upset that someone spelled her name wrong twice in his signature! She always eats when she is depressed.

So wait, as a part of a Preservation con, ACE is going to a park with a "new school" woodie that some people don't even consider to be a wooden coaster, as well as one of the worst-maintained woodies on earth? haha

^^The spelling is still incorrect, movie or no movie.

We now return you to our thread about the most awesome coaster in the U.S. (at least to me and quite a few other people), which is already in progress.
