Coasters 4 ever Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 What coaster has the longest drop? By longest I don't mean height. I mean how long it takes to get down the drop. For example, in this topic a ride with an 100ft drop could have a 'longer' drop than a ride with a 150ft drop.
Jordan Shankman Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 Technically, I don't know if this is correct, but Goliath @ SFMM felt like it had one hell of a long drop.
CoasterFanatic Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 Has to be the Beast's 2nd Half. The drop is sloped at a whopping 18 degree angle.
pvcoasterguy Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 Whizzer's drop is quite long despite being a mere 60-70 feet. Very shallow, but then you do that amazing drop-turn, and it's awesome.
Coasters 4 ever Posted May 25, 2005 Author Posted May 25, 2005 Has to be the Beast's 2nd Half. The drop is sloped at a whopping 18 degree angle. Then how would you even feel it?
robbalvey Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 ^ I have to say that I'm totally confused by the question you are asking. Do you mean "longest" as in "total track length to get from highest point to the lowest point of a drop?" In that case, you could theoretically have a drop that's only 50 feet tall, but extremely shallow, and it be the "longest" drop. Do you mean "longest" as it "tallest" from top to bottom? For example The Boss which goes down into the ravine has a much longer 'drop' that it does a lift. Do you mean "longest" as in time? "How long does it take to get from the top to the bottom?" Etc, etc... --Robb "Still confused." Alvey

M_Force_4_ever Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 I agree its either got to be Whizzer or the beasts second drop into the helix.
CoasterFanatic Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 If you mean longest as in time, then the Chance Toboggans have got to be up there. Other than that, the Matterhorn is almost all downhill. // The drop on a Toboggan is still not long enough to prepare you for that nasty dip at the bottom.
Jordan Shankman Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 I don't really think the Beast's second "drop" counts. It's more of a glide...
CoasterFanatic Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 ^ OK? At what angle does a glide become a drop?
jonathan h Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 Yeh, saying it isn't a drop, but a glide opens up a whole new question of, how steep does the track have to be to be a drop.
Coasters 4 ever Posted May 27, 2005 Author Posted May 27, 2005 This is a very confusing thread. But really, when does a "glide" become a drop?
Coasters 4 ever Posted May 27, 2005 Author Posted May 27, 2005 ^ You started it I never said I didn't. I just didn't think this would be so confusing.
benzo41190 Posted May 28, 2005 Posted May 28, 2005 Lets make PEACE! I would have to agree that Whizzer has the longest drop.
