PKI Jizzman
Be calm, tell them that you love talking to people and communicate well, and don't forget to always be kind and courteous!
Reon
Where exactly do you want to work in the park? Food services, shops, games, rides? I've been a ride operator for a year now, and that job is pretty easy. Just press a few buttons to actually work the thing. The only real problem is public relations, though that's just being nice to everyone and making sure all order is kept etc...
calcajun
Just some quick advice that will work well for you. Talk to, and interact with park guests as much as possible. Your english will improve quickly and drastically. Your supervisors and managers will see this as a good thing and it will make you stand out as a park employee. Helps alleviate boredom. Or, you can be a part of the percentage that stands looking bored, tired and not wanting to be there. Not learn anything. Not do your job properly. The first choice is way better! calcajun
that job is pretty easy. Just press a few buttons to actually work the thing. If you are the ride Operator, there is a lot more to it than that. You are the person in control with the final say that the area is clear, attendants are in safe zones, all restraints have been checked properly.Only then you make the decision to start the ride cycle. If it is a coaster you visually check the restraints as the train goes by. You are the operator. You are in control and have the final say and responsibility for guest and fellow employees safety. Reon
Thats what I meant. I was just too lazy to write it all out, and basically skipped ahead to the final part. I thought that anyone with common sence would realise not to start the ride without first doing everything they could to make sure the area was clear and that everyone on the ride was propperly secured. ratdogg68
The main thing to remember is do and treat everything as when you are a guest. Do your job throughly, checking heights, checking the restraints and interacting with the guests. I worked at Six Flags KK for 5 seasons and Opryland for two seasons and I noticed fellow employees who did things that would have made me feel unsafe as a guest. Their safety is in your hands, by checking restraints, talking to guests to insure them that the ride is safe, and not goofing off will make your guests feel more comfortable. Take your job seriously, you will have countless lives in your hands, its not just the rides design to make sure they are safe but yours also. If a child is too short for a coaster don't let them ride, the ride restrictions are for the guests safety. Explain to the guest if they don't fit the requirements its for their own safety and you want them to have a good day.
gnewton34
If I'm not mistaken I think he may actually be looking for information about how to get a job at an amusement park and who to contact and what-not here in the states since he lives in another country. ratdogg68
I know when I worked at KK and Opryland we had interns from other countries, most of which was college related. Do you have any links to working at a park in the U.S or are you just wondering how to get a job at a park in the U.S?
thrillrideseeker
Well if you have graduated from High School in the past 18 months, or you are currently in college then I suggest you apply for the Disney Career Start program! It would be a great opportunity for you! Just print off the application and fax it in! Then they will interview you! It is that simple! Here is the link http://disney.go.com/disneycareers/careerstart/index.html GOOD LUCK!! ~Matthew

FlyingScooter
Try this: http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/jobs/general/faq.cfm scroll down the FAQ and you'll see an area for Outside the US Contact info. I imagine 6Flags, Disney and others have a similar area. Good luck!

kidcoaster
I can tell you people will be mad at times just remain calm and calm them down. And it is fun to mess around at times but remember peoples lives are at risk if you mess to much.
edh
Better yet, he should do the International Program. That way his language comes in handy. Although I don't think you can do it for only a month or 2.
I love DW
I would love to work as a ride operator. My question is: what do i have to do to get a job since im from Spain? I have thought in a 1 or 2 month job in a park as a ride operator Thanks for the info guys! Dollywood hires international host for four months or less so it seems like you would work out perfect for it. Here is Dollywood's employment link - http://www.dollywood.com/employment/ And here is the paragraph about international workers. International Requests for Employment Dollywood employs international students who possess J-1 Summer Travel/Work visas which permit them to work during their visit to the US for a period not to exceed four (4) months. International students who are currently in the United States with the proper documentation to work are invited to call (865) 428-9510 for an interview. Students are responsible for arranging their own housing and transportation.
