CP_RULES Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 I notice they still have a lot of open land at WoF.. anyone know of any future plans on what they might build there? I hadn't been to WoF in 12 years and the park had sure changed a lot! But was surprised that the area around it hadn't really changed that much. The latest rumor is a GCI for 2008 (formally 2009 but bumped up due to the fact that they got nothing this season). I think you mean the water jets were the only reason *not* to ride. It's so much better without them. Not only do you not get wet, but you can actually breath a little bit sometimes. To be quite honest, I only ride it to get wet. On a hot day its a great way to cool off without having to wait in a long line. Without the jets, the only reason I'd ride is if I was feeling like having my balls smashed.
youthink? Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 Thanks hogarthOK! Do you recommend going on Boomerang? I heard it was pretty crappy but my sister absolutely loved it. And does Thunderhawk make you dizzy or nauseous?
kraxleRIDAH Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 The thing about Patriot is that it is BIG. It's a BIG inverted coaster. The coaster is not about thrills, but grace. It feels like you are flying when you ride that thing, it's a lot of fun. It is definitely one of the better inverts out there -- not because it is in your face, but because it does everything gracefully. I wouldn't say that. I consider Patriot to be more mid-sized than BIG. Alpengeist and Montu are BIG. Talon and Patriot are mid-sized.

Patriot is 149 feet tall with a 123 foot drop. Since when do you classify a coaster as large when you are calling the one that is one foot shorter medium?
HogarthOK Posted June 7, 2007 Author Posted June 7, 2007 Thanks hogarthOK! Do you recommend going on Boomerang? I heard it was pretty crappy but my sister absolutely loved it. It's a little rough, and it's not aging well, but it's fun enough. The inversion taken backwards, if you've never been on one, is an interesting enough sensation to merit a ride or two. I like back seat for Boomerang -- the first drop is worth a small scream if you're up high enough. The only thing that I won't ride at WoF anymore is Timberwolf -- but I haven't tried it this year. And does Thunderhawk make you dizzy or nauseous? It's been closed every time I go but I've been on Tomb Raider at Kings Island, which is the same ride, indoors (a Huss Top Spin)... a little dizzy, yes, but not nauseous.
steel Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 Hey I'm going here next week and was wondering where the best seat was on all of the coasters? And when to hit all of them? And nice photos as well This is the order I usually go. Patriot: Back row, far left side. I'm telling you, you won't regret the wait. Timber Wolf: (if it's open already) ride in the front row first. If you like that, go to the second-to-last row. Mamba: Somewhere in the back car. Boomerang: (if you must) doesn't matter Spinning Dragons: Try as hard as you possibly can to get a car with only two people facing forward when you're in the station. If you can't do that, get the heaviest people facing forward. You're experience on this ride relies on where you sit. It's almost an art. All this talk has gotten me excited - good thing I'm going today.
snorkymn Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 After 20 rides the other day on Patriot, in many places on the train, I'd say the best spot on Patriot was on the front row, on one of the outer seats. (Well, the outer seats on nearly every row seemed to be slightly more fun than the inside seats) The back was also fun, but if you were in an outer seat, and not on the front row, I didn't notice that much difference between the rows, except for maybe how much G forces you felt on the first loop.
Jive Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 You'll have time to ride Mamba more than once so try for the 3rd row after you ride in the back. You'll score some extended floater air.
steel Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 OMG, most AWESOME trip to WoF EVER! The rides were fun and everything, but it started pouring rain at about 4:00. Thank goodness I was under a roof in Europa for the first few waves of the storm. It started to clear up a lot, my friends and I decided to walk around and see what was open. Scrambler was open, but none of us wanted to ride it. That's literally the only thing in the park that was open outside of Europa and Scandinavia (that we could ride). We got to Scandinavia and saw that Octopus was running. We thought we might as well, since it's about the only thing there is. Halfway through our ride it started sprinkling again, and the ride op shut the ride down for inclement weather. And this is just the beginning of the fun! We got of the ride as the rain started to get heavier . We just made it under the shelter by Sunset Strips before it got worse. First it was just raining. Then it was pouring. Then it was dumping walls of water. It kept getting worse and it wasn't letting up at all. I called my dad to tell him that we were okay and under a roof. Then the hail started. After a minute or so of hail, a WoF employee ran down the stairs to us and yelled, "EVERYBODY LISTEN UP! THIS IS A TAKE COVER SITUATION! YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW ME!" So I was freaking out a little. I knew we were under a severe thunderstorm warning and a tornado watch, but I didn't know how bad it had gotten. So we run up the stairs with the crowd. At one point my friend stopped me - "Where's Chase?!" Fortunately, my other friend was only a few yards behind us. For some reason our "take cover" location was even more open. I think they wanted us to go into Tivoli Music Hall, but the doors were locked, so we had to stand under the roof in front of it. Well, it turned out that we only took cover because of the hail. Nonetheless, we were considerably shaken and filled to the brim with adrenaline. I called my dad and told him that we were all just fine. Then I called my mom at home to tell her what was happening. Now it was about 7:00. We were supposed be at WoF until it closed at 9:00. Chase called his mom (the youth director) who said that they were opening the bus and that we were going to leave early. We started to wait for a little break in the severity of the rain, but that never came, so we decided to just run for it. When we got to the bus, our wonderful bus driver had lots of paper towels waiting for us. It was absolutely brilliant. Totally awesome experience.
Airtime&Gravity Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 threadjacked...again Great photos and TR, and WoF really looks like a nice little park. It doesn't seem to be that well liked, but it's a good park for the area. Patriot and Spinning Dragons both look fun, and these are these coasters don't seem to be liked much.
snorkymn Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 So Steel, what did you think of the coasters? Were you able to get lots of rides before the storm? I was at Valleyfair once in a Tornado Warning. They had us down in a ditch behind the park.
steel Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 ^I've been to the park many times, but I enjoy the coasters. One ride on RipCord, two awesome rides on Patriot with no lines, one on Thunderhawk, one ride on Detonator with violent airtime, one ride on Mamba with a completely insane drop (better than any I've ever had on Mamba), three rides on Le Taxitour (between waves), two rides on Flying Dutchman, one ride on Le Carrousel, one horrible ride on Finnish Fling, and half a ride on Octopus.
bigstevet07 Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 Ok, I think we are going the second week in July. Is Panda Express open yet? Hopefully crowds will stay mild.
Masked_Maverick Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 I can't believe you posted a picture of Snoopy bounce. When I worked Camp Snoopy at CP in 2000 we nicknamed that thing "Bondage Beagle". So props for the pic.
Swoosh Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 Yes Panda Express is open and it is $6.00 + tax a plate
