scottjenkins
Alton towers opening week, this year they were offering a Triple ride promise which basically means every member will get to ride, rita, oblivion air and nemesis 3 times each in the day, if not they will get their money back!!! In other words sounds like its gonna be dead! I prefer it so much when its dead lol me sad and exhausted on way back to car park!! Looking forward to Drayton Manor on 14th April for my birthday! Ill Keep you updated! Umm My favourite food before the journey home No mobile phones allowed!!!! Ride stopped for this tosser who was too lazy to go online and find a POV Whats wrong with this picture? One thing I hate Oblivion always look small from the ground but when your on the holding brake its a different story Station area! The only bad thing about Oblivion is the stupid dick on the screens "This ride is perfectly safe" blah blah blah It takes such an awesome picture! Holding Brake......... Dont look down! some Oblivion goodness again from queue for sublission Oblivions turnaround and the Huss Enterprise (YAWN) Ok, heres where i need my soapbox. I Worship Oblivion. Simple but breathtaking! I love the fact that all the focus is around the drop and then you stop. Amazing! Simple and exhilerating! Submission, love it or hate it?!?!? i personally love it! On to X Sector now notice black hole history anywhere!!! IT was bloody freezing up here tho! Oblivions Drop from the top of the tower ruins! I love Hex, scares the poo out of me tho!! Charlie and the chocolate factory!! "Wat a crock of sh*te" We did get on in the end, twich in fact! I love the roughness of the back car, feels like it should be made by vekoma not Intamin! I wasnt impressed with Rita when she first opened however, she has grown on me so much. One problem the queue was huge for her as they were running one train!!!!!!!!! ARGH! (one HUGE pet hate for me) So i sat in here and pretended it was real!!! Rita's launch track! Ug Land!!! I however died in a different way!!! The skyline wasnt open so the only way to get from Forbidden Valley to Ug Land was down the valley! 40 painful minutes later, nathan is dying, so he smokes!!! Front row took us about 5 mins to wait. Air gate one is the equivilant to Virgin Atlantic First Class. The only way to fly! Sexy lighting!! Love the atmosphere in this station! And the voiceover "Prepare for air, Assume the position, now fly" So Pretty! Thats where im gonna be spending my hard earned cash later! I love ripsaw! And the water pumps were on this tim etoo, dont let the clear sky decieve you it was probably about -10 degrees!!! Counldt decide wether we were in AT or Narnia half the time! New Restraints!!! Its about bloody time! We queued for the front which was 3 groups of 4 in front of us as Nemmie had 2 trains running. As you can see the station queue is dead! Love standing on the bridge when she roars past!! again... Some nemmie shots for the fans! Time for Nathan to experience this old tart of a ride..... Nemmie! This thing always looks really scary from the queue line, very intimidatring for first riders. I have a personal love for Nemmie as she took my virginity when I was 13! She is ugly tho s Forvidden Valley main plaza, notice the hundreds of thousands of people there!!! Thank the lord the Haunted Hollow was shut as it wasnt finished! Im not a lover of dead things and ugly people! lol Duel was next!!! This loser was giving me evils so i chinned the ugly bas**rd!! As you can see there were more staff around than the public!! No Flash Photography! My Arse!! Nathan in the queue for The Flume, all the time it spent walking through the queue we didnt see one person in any of the 9 million boats they have on! SW first drop again some green and red goodness Some Maurer Söhne goodness for any fans. I am one with the exception of G Force at drayton manor!! Spinball had a HUGE queue at 10:10 am. The ride op at the entrance was telling people that it was the only ride in the park with a queue and advising them As Sarah Jessica Parker says on Hocus Pocus "I smell children" We will be staying away from there!!!! One more pic of the green plastic animal for thos eof you who get off on that!! some maintenance going on in Towers Street The FROGS are working this year, first time in about 7 years!!! Alton Towers enterance plaza! As you can see as you all have eyes, its absolutely DEAD! Nemmie from monorail! Nathan is a Nemmie virgin lol Imagine Homer Simpson saying mmmm donuts, im sat in the monorail shouting mmmm B&M twisty goodness, getting looks of the public lol MMM Air from monorail... New attraction fot 2007, CRAZY Golf!! Remember..... If you play it the you must be CCRRAAAZZZYYY! And this is me, Im Scott, lookign tired but totally excited at the same time lol Nathan Boi!!!! This is my friend Nathan, but dont listen to him as he has no job lol Monorail Plaza!!!! Getting funny feelings in my trouser departments lol HURRAY after 2 hours on the road out forst sign!!!! Its that little brown thing on bottom left All was well until we met the M5 at Brimingham!!! Im not the best when the traffic stops me from getting to theme parks before operning times! Just saying Bye to my neighbours lol Yay Transportation Device thats gonna reunite me with AT very shortly! View from my humble abode

Bubba83
I liked this Trip Report a lot. I also liked how you didn't complain about the cold too much. Afterall it's probably why the queues were so short!

dr.gumbo
^^ The problem for me is that on school days I have to go to school (duh!), thats why when I do go to a theme park (twice a year (not often, but I have three brothers, each with different interests)) it is usually about a few weeks before they close for winter, theres never anyone there (when I went to LWV, we nearly had the whole park to ourselves, apart from a group of scouts and a few people here and there.) Once again, thanks for the update

thefitness
Nice TR, Alton Towers seems to have a good collection of coasters. So did they keep their triple ride promise?
scottjenkins
Nice TR, Alton Towers seems to have a good collection of coasters. So did they keep their triple ride promise? Well this is where it gets complicated. On Adrenaline weeks they only have a select few rides open. This year however they were all open so even tho Rita's queue was HUGE we got 2 goes on it, Air's queue was kinda big too but we got to ride about 30 rides that day so even though they technically didnt keep their promise, they did a good job! Rita was launching every 3-4 mins with only one train so it was a huge queue, Air only had one station open, but Nemmie ran with two trains, Obliviong had about 6 on so there wasnt a queue at all for that. Def worth going in adrenaline week next year. Plus it was only £20!

I was there Friday and they were definitely having problems in the left-hand station of Air, though I couldn't see enough to guess what was going on. The wait was listed as 45 minutes at one point but had dropped to "20" (actually ended up being 15) half an hour later. Biggest line of the day was Spinball on Friday, was actually almost a little annoyed about that, but everything else was running great capacity, efficient as ever, etc etc. Nice PTR, thanks for posting! Louise
Umm I went on the wednesday. Standing looking at Air's station from the brake run the left hand side was the only operational one the right was not open. Did Rita have one or two trains running when you were there? Interesting. While we were in the station (right), they kept faffing around with operations on the other side, lifting the riders into flight position and then back down, sent round an empty train, and then when we got off and left, there were several guys stood around inspecting the empty train. This was only an hour or so before closing though. Rita was running one train. We really didn't queue for all *that* long, had there been two it probably would've been practically a walk-on. Incidentally, this visit was probably the only time I've ever spent LONGER on Oblivion than queueing for it! They were running like six trains and it was a total walk-on, but we ended up sitting on the brake run for five minutes while they sorted out a technical problem (shocking, lol). Nrthwnd
I think one of my fave things about AT during the TPR June Tour, was that queue going down, down, down.... into Nemmie's trench. Very nice. And the bridge, too. That was great to hang around, too. That red water always did get me (and a few others I believe?) as it kept spraying at us as we zoomed by. Is that still happening? Bizarre stuff. Great TR. Thanks for sharing it all.

Inferno Insane
Sound like I should of gone after Tuesday for Adrenaline week, as Sunday/Mon, When I went Nemesis was only open for like 4 hours max in the 2 days, due to the snow the sun/mon and cause people getting coved in rust. Thou riding Corkscrew/Oblivion in an heavy snowstorm was one of the mentalist things I done for ages. Rita other train was in bits, hence why it was running 1 train. Nice report anyway
Expedition Goliath
Nice report & pics. AT is my favourite UK park, mostly due to my favourite coaster, Nemesis, is in park. Me and my fiance were up there Saturday, Sunday, Monday and half of Tuesday of Adreneline week and the only day that Nemesis opened near enough on time was Tuesday. I have to agree with Inferno Insane that riding Corkscrew and Oblivion is heavy snow was MAD!!!!!.
mp27
Those pictures were awesome!! Looks like you had a great time!! Hopefully, one day I'll make my way over to the U.K., and try out some of those rides. Spinball looks insane.
nemesis1978
nice report only just seen it!! I went to AT myself for the first time in 3 years last week and had a fantastic day - longest we waited was 15 mins, everything running to full capacity, Nemmie 2 trains, Air 3 Trains, Rita 2 trains etc etc. Staff all very helpful and place looked spotless. Was my first time on rita and spinball whizzer - I have to say spinball is THE funniest coaster I have ever been on and a great addition to the park!!! As for rita heard good and bad things about her but i loved her !!espec front row rides are fantastic. Managed to do everything at least twice including the rides ya don't normally do. Only bad thing i could say about the day is the state of x sector. Oblivion needs a new paint job and badly!! I remember the first time i went into that area and it looked ace tis now a shadow of its former self - although oblivion still rocks!!
