kraken613 Posted October 6, 2007 Posted October 6, 2007 Just GCI's method of coasters dosnt seem fitted for PTC. I couldnt imagine something like Thunderhead or Kentucky Rumbler having anything but Flyers.
DragsterForce Posted October 30, 2007 Author Posted October 30, 2007 UPDATE: Check out our site for a quick construction update.
coasterdude28 Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Thanks for the update. I look forward to following this project through your site.
Tyrant Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Adam, are you actually traveling now for GCI? If so, where in St. Louis do you stay? I live in St. Louis when I am not at school, about 10 minutes from the park. It would be pretty cool to meet up with you. In January I am headed out to Baltimore, MD to start an 8-month long co-op with Premier Rides, so it would be cool to talk to someone who has already done an internship in the Amusement Park Industry.
DragsterForce Posted November 9, 2007 Author Posted November 9, 2007 Just a real quick update. Check out the site for a new blog entry.
coasterdude28 Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 Thanks for the update. Have a great time at IAAPA. I ca't wait to see Knieval take shape.
DragsterForce Posted November 20, 2007 Author Posted November 20, 2007 Check out the Intern Site to see our coverage of the IAAPA trade show.
kraken613 Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 rocks they are my favorite woodie! I like Intamin woodies but they are too smooth. Woodies should shack alittle!
CP_RULES Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Any updates on EK? The weather here has been BEAUTIFUL the last few days, I'm sure that they were able to make a lot of progress.
spaceace12 Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 On the blog it says that foundation work is progressing and bents (sp) should be going up soon.
CP_RULES Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 ^Aha thank you, I missed out on the bottom part of yesterday's entries.
DragsterForce Posted December 1, 2007 Author Posted December 1, 2007 Check out the Intern Site for Exclusive Photos of the bottom of the first drop on Evel Kinevel.
coasterdude28 Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 Thanks for the update. This is looking nice.
kraken613 Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 I love seeing woodies being constructed! I have a question. Why does GCI laf one giant conrteate pad intead of footers? Is it the parks keeping cost or time down? I know it takes less time but it dosnt look as nice. Just imagine if Thunderhead was like that.
DragsterForce Posted December 4, 2007 Author Posted December 4, 2007 Keep up with the intern site to read the latest on Evel Kinevel and to find out the latest news at GCII.
DragsterForce Posted December 17, 2007 Author Posted December 17, 2007 Check out the intern site for new photos of the Evel Kinevel job site.
hyyyper Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 Old memories come to surface when i see the pics. I remeber how excited i was cycling to the cold weather to see how far Troy had progressed.
DragsterForce Posted January 3, 2008 Author Posted January 3, 2008 Check out our site to read about and see photos from our GCII trip to Beech Bend during the holidays.
Evan1127 Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Though I'm not an intern anymore, we're still keeping the site going. In fact, a new intern just started! To celebrate the occasion, I spent some time upgrading the site. We've jumped on the WordPress bandwagon, so you can all get RSS feeds, post comments, and really keep on top of what's going on with our interns (and projects). So head on over and meet Eamon from Ohio State University. I know he'll be good about keeping the content updated, so if you haven't bookmarked it yet, now is a good time to. www.greatcoastersinterns.com
themeparkman25 Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Thanks for posting that! It definitely seems like something I would be interested in. Is the internship only for engineers though? I am a business major, more specifically finance, and am looking to get more involved in the industry. I was an ambassador at IAAPA this last year, and that was awesome, and I got to speak with Clair and Chris! They told me to email a gentleman by the name of Pete about the possibility of a accounting/finance internship and I am still waiting for a response. Maybe you know more?
jbarner14 Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 How do you get involved with this internship? I'll be attending Penn State University for Architectural Engineering with an emphasis in structural next year and this would definitely be something I would be interested in when the time for interning comes. Working for Great Coasters is my dream job, especially since its located in the same town that I go to high school in. I wish that as a high school student I could hang around and job shadow the people at Great Coasters but that is probably hoping for a little too much,
downunder Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Nice site, I really like GCI's approach to building coasters and their passion. It's nice to see some TPR members are living their dream. Now get back to work and make sure the new coaster at Efteling is ready for the TPR Europe Tour.
Eamon Kelly Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Hey guys, just updated the site. Check it out here.
robbalvey Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Yay! New GCI interns! --Robb "Gives TPR someone new to harass!" Alvey
robbalvey Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Well, this is certainly interesting.... http://greatcoastersinterns.com/?author=11 --Robb
