DragsterForce Posted March 7, 2007 Author Posted March 7, 2007 Everyone should check out the site. The Wildcat trains are finished and there are several updates on the site. Also, check back in the next week or so to see exclusive photos of the new trains on the Wildcat.
Ccron10 Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 So will the first car in front of each train have those railings? The trains look great!
DragsterForce Posted March 7, 2007 Author Posted March 7, 2007 Yes, the railings will be on the lead coaches by the time the ride opens, but right now, they are being manufactured.
hyyyper Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 great job guys, looking forward to the toverland trains  btw, what is hesheypark doing with the old trains? throw them away or so?
ValleyfairFan Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Looks good, can't wait for the progress on the Renegade trains.
Ccron10 Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 btw, what is hesheypark doing with the old trains? throw them away or so?[/ Â I was wondering that too. Could they be new trains for the Comet?
ginzo Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Dear GCI Interns, Â Please build some nice Millennium Flyer trains for Son of Beast. Â Thanks! Â -Ginzo
Evan1127 Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 Dear GCI Interns, Please build some nice Millennium Flyer trains for Son of Beast.  Thanks!  -Ginzo  Haha, if only we had that kind of pull.  About Hershey's old Wildcat trains... what Hershey does with them is obviously up to Hershey (not us), but I haven't heard of any plans of the trains being reused elsewhere.
RCoasterny Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 btw, what is hesheypark doing with the old trains? throw them away or so?[/ Â I was wondering that too. Could they be new trains for the Comet? Â Won't work- they're not compatible. Comet uses skid brakes. They have an trim brake on the turnaround above the station that is a skid brake. The will have to modify the station to accomodate the side plungers for the bar release, and change the gates to switch from 3 benchers to 2 benchers. Too much work from a business standpoint. Hope they can sell the Wildcat trains to Darien Lake!
DragsterForce Posted March 13, 2007 Author Posted March 13, 2007 It's really not that rediculous of an idea. There was quite a bit of work needed to change the Wildcat from PTC to MFlyers such as brake location and lift dog location.
Ccron10 Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 They could probably use one or two cars for the display that their going to have at the museum. Â Instead of moving the block brakes and chain dog, couldn't you just put the brake fins and chain dog right in line of where they were before? Or does the frame cause some problems for that.
Evan1127 Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 Everything on a Millennium Flyer car is spaced exactly and so all of the components fit together. To modify each car would require a lot more time, work, and energy than modifying the few components on the ride. Â And to clarify: the chain dog isn't moving. It's actually the chain itself that will adjust to accomodate alignment differences.
DragsterForce Posted March 16, 2007 Author Posted March 16, 2007 EXCLUSIVE: The Wildcat trains are now officially at HersheyPark! The trains were shipped out yesterday and taday and they should be on the track within the next week, with testing to follow. Check out the website to see exclusive photos and see the progress of the Renegade trains.
Ccron10 Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 Wow! Blue cars too?!? Man, that's going to sweet!
DATman Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 ^Nah, they're red, the bubble wrap stuff on them is blue.
Evan1127 Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 Yeah, it's all protective covering. Â Just an FYI... the first shots of Renegade's trains (with color, etc.) should be up early in the week, with blog updates to accompany.
Coaster Joe Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 The website has been updated showing Wildcat's new trains on the track. Banisters are still in production and will be added before the ride opens to the public. Â Both trains were run multiple times yesterday to some good reviews. Â Great work guys!!!
DragsterForce Posted March 24, 2007 Author Posted March 24, 2007 As coaster Joe said, we were given the chance to go to Hershey and test out the trains that we built. Check out the site to see new photos and read up on the latest entries.
DragsterForce Posted March 29, 2007 Author Posted March 29, 2007 GCI EXCLUSIVE: Check out the intern site to see how the Renegade trains are coming along and to see photos of the new, redesigned, low-profile banister. Â http://www.greatcoastersinterns.com/index.php
robbalvey Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Nice! I like the lower bar, gives the rider a better view. BTW, I noticed in the Wildcat photos there is no bannister. Has it just not been installed yet or is that the design? Because I like that! Â --Robb

robbalvey Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 Yeah, I noticed like 4 posts up Joe talked about that. DIdn't see it until after I click "submit." Â That'll teach me not to read a thread! Â Looking forward to more updates! Â --Robb
ginzo Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 I think it would rock without a bannister. Open designs are nice, and it would give an extra incentive to wait for the front- a totally unobstructed view.
BeemerBoy Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 I'm sort of torn on the thought of that. The open view would be kinda cool...like the front of a beemer floorless. But I still really like how the bannisters look with the coaster name on them, like Thunderhead and Rumbler. Â However; on the other hand, the open view on a millennium flyer would feel like riding a La-Z-Boy down the track.
DragsterForce Posted April 29, 2007 Author Posted April 29, 2007 EXCLUSIVE: We now have photos on the intern site of the Toverland trains with a painted seat side as well as the Renegade banister before powdercoat.
