I love the long, airtime-filled drop on Intamin drop towers, but the S&S tower at Holiday World has a crazy program that really ejects you from your seat multiple times.

However, I have to agree with Gerstlaueringvar, S&S towers do feel a lot more controlled than Intamin towers. Intamin towers feel wild and out-of-control.

^Agreed. I find the drops on intamin towers to feel the least "controlled" out of all the ones I've ridden, even the ARM towers. The S&S towers I've done have stronger, more "ejector airtime, but cause it doesn't last all the way down the tower, it makes them a lot more "fun", rather than "intense" like the Intamins.

S&S. I like how when the drop begins, you get thrown up into your harness (-1g),

I know they're supposed to pull -1 G but I didn't really feel it was that much (maybe because it is quite quick)

It must vary depending on the ride, because Supreme Scream (the one I ride the most often) had really strong ejector air at first that soon mellowed out to almost nothing, but Power Tower at CP felt a lot more controlled.

Intamin. More forceful, but I love that the S&S ones launch you up. Wish intamin shot you up, and then dropped you like they do! That'd be the best!

What if there was -1g all the way down? It wouldn't be harmful - it would be the same load as hanging upside down for 5 seconds.

^Been on a couple S&S towers with good programs that offer 2 good pops of ejector air, but I'd take the wild, outa control feeling, and airtime filled Intamin drops in a heartbeat .

IMO, after thinking about it, the airtime on the Intamin 2nd gens (giant drops) I've rode is nearly perfect... A good strong pop at the start, that's somewhere in between ejector and floater, and then you just hang in zero g for the whole length of the drop. The only thing that could make the ride better would be an S&S style program, with a launch, a few "bounces" then a slow climb to the top, with the long, airtime filled drop we all love being the grand finale. Not sure if something like that would be possible, but if it is, I hope someone from intamin reads this thread . It's a shame to hear these new 3rd and 4th (SFMM/GAdv) gen towers don't offer as forceful a drop, but at least it's good to know that parks are still adding drop rides.

Finally, another good point that I just remembered about the Intamins, is the fact that they're the originals. Without the almighty 2nd gen, there would be no drop towers as we know them today.
