sixflagstloldschool
I had read over at Screamscape that The ride was being repainted and rethemed to Superman: Tower of Power like St. Louis. I was wondering if anyone had any pictures of the painting of the tower. I believe the ride before was properly named and had an awsome paint job on the tower before, When they changed St. Louis from Acraphobia, paint theme and a full paint job at that before it went up and then repainted to a Superman. It does look nice but actually like the original green, blue, orange color scheme. If anyone has any of the new paint going up on KK, I would love to see. XII
BOO! How dare they rename and retheme Hellevator! That was perfectly named and themed!
coasterdude5
I'm not too surprised, my guess is that they'll eventually switch alot of rides over to the comic theme. But it's not a bad move, if you've got the rights to this stuff, why not use it? As long as each park doesn't have 5 superman-themed rides, it doesn't bother me. Scaparri
I was wondering if anyone had any pictures of the painting of the tower. I've got ya covered. I took this on Tuesday.
christianscoasters
Man, they just HAD to take "THE MOST CREATIVE NAME" award away from themselves. That was probably the best name you could think of. And now they're changing it to Superman?!?!?!
Scaparri
Yeah, I loved the name, but at the same time, I think it's a really smart move and shows that Shapiro is trying to stick to his plan. As awesome as the name is, it's arguably not very family friendly. As CoasterDude5 said, at least they are finally using the DC Comic rights at this park a little more. I think just about any park that can boast a ride named Superman is going to have a little more marketing power. SFKK really could be a unique, cool park if it's maintained and managed properly. -Scott "now really get down to business and take out that lousy excuse for an inverted coaster, Mark" Parrish
christianscoasters
^Woah, I never thought of that, but you are absolutely right! Most SF parks aren't what you'd call "family" friendly. Any word with 'hell' in it, isn't appropriate for the younger ages (according to some parents). It seems like Shapiro is doing his best for SF! Homer
OMFG IT HAS THE WORD 'HELL' IN IT, LETS CENSOR IT! I hate political correctness so much now.
christianscoasters
^Okay getting mad now! I said that because they're are people out there who do not want their kids to hear that. My aunt and uncle never cuss or even say 'crap' around their kids because they don't want them to hear it. At my school, everybody cusses. When somebody says something 'bad', we don't make a bid deal about it. Personally, I don't have a problem with the name 'Hellavator', but there is people out there that do. I think I'll leave the forums now so I don't get mad and then get suspended or banned.
coasterdude5
^^ If Shapiro is aiming towards families, wouldn't that be the smart thing to do? We complain about Six Flags, and then when they try to change something, we complain more.
Chadley
To us in the region it'll always be Hellevator. People have known it for way too long as Hellevator for them to successfully change the name now!
Scaparri
^Maybe enthusiasts, but I'm sure the gp won't. When they painted T2 black and put the Batman sign up for the stunt show, everybody I knew immediately started calling it Batman and still do, despite the T2 sign still being there and every map referring to it as T2. RollerC
I liked Hellavator. It was unique. I always name my Intiamin(sp?) rides in RCT2 Hellavator.
thrillerman1
T2...hmm people call it Batman now? Weird I have never heard that before.

Airtime&Gravity
The area by Superman: Tower of Power at SFSTL is really nice, and I hope they can do the same at SFKK. While I liked Hellevator, Shapiro is doing a good thing since there are some people that take offense to the word hell in a family environment. Airtime-What's bad about T2? It was smooth when I rode it in 06-&Gravity
ECZenith
Awwww... I was pissed when SFNE changed their tower from Hellevator to Scream but we at least had the one in KK. Booooo to generic names and cheap themes... oh well.
ginzo
I was wondering if anyone had any pictures of the painting of the tower. I've got ya covered. I took this on Tuesday. That through the rusty chain link fence shot really says it all about Kentucky Kingdom. I personally don't see much potential in that dilapidated 3-hour park. Greezed Lightnin' is a fun little shuttle loop, but the other coasters aren't all that. Thunder Run, their supposed best woodie, had a bad case of the Dinn shuffle when I rode it. Replacing T2 with the SFNO Batman clone would be the best thing to ever happen to Kentucky Kingdom.
LOVE SFKK
Im all for change at my favorite park (see my name), so Im fine with the name change, becase of the whole family friendly appearence. Lets just be thankful that we didnt get the name... Tower of Doom Scream Supreme Scream Or some other crappy names. I always thought that the Power of Tower thing was really creative and had a nice play on words. If this turns out like SFSL, it should be a nice, extreme drop tower with a nice station with ok theming of the characters. You have to admit that besides the flames on the Hellevator, there was pretty much nada theming!
Scaparri
^Yeah, I really hope Shapiro keeps the changes and improvements coming. It's really sad to see what has happened to the park since Six Flags took over. I honestly miss the "Kentucky Kingdom- The THRILL PARK" days.
