raskal Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 2007-01-04 - Published by: Themeparkdenmark Bakken has filed the Local City council for permeation to build a new rollercoaster. The new roller coaster is an Intamin Accelerator coaster, and will stand 24 meters tall (78ft.). The coaster will be ready to open in 2008. The park has filed for permeation to change the local city plan on the area where the ride I supposed to be built. This includes that the height restriction is changed from 12 meters to 24 meters. The local council also have to approve the construction of a 14 meters tall sound screen to prevail noise above the 45db restriction. The ride will also have a sound screen on the part that is 24 meters tall. Further more, a pathway towards the Eastern entrance will be included in the construction zone. This indicates that the coaster will be built instead of the water big slide. Facts: Model: Intamin Rocket Coaster Height: 24 meters (78ft.) Color: Dark grey.
coasterdude5 Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Sounds cool, it looks like it will be a great add for Bakken. I wonder if it will be custom or a Rita clone like Desert Race...
SharkTums Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Seems like Intamin can do quite a lot with minimum height on the accelerator coasters. Although, keep in mind Kanonen is also 78' tall so I wonder if we'll get one similar to that! It would be the highest concentration of Intamin Rockets in the world! You'd have 3 all within a 6 hour ferry/drive of each other! Or throw in the Heide Park one and you'd have 4 within a 10 hour ferry/drive!
VegasCoaster Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 From what I remember of Bakken I am willing to bet it'll be closer to Kannonen than Rita. Might be a different layout, but it seems like something similar to Kannonen is more possible with what they have.
Alexander Nagel Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 That's awesome to hear another Rocket is being built, hopefully the height is the only thing it will have is common with Kannonen though. I really hope some US parks will get back to building Rockets though, but i'm sure they've been scared away with all that they hear about Top Thrill Dragster and Kingda Ka.
rollermonkey Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 As soon as I saw this, I thought of Kanonen. Bakken seems like the sort of park that would go for something with a nice small footprint like that.
raskal Posted January 12, 2007 Author Posted January 12, 2007 Apparently it's taking the spot where the logflume & swan pedal monorail thing is. I'd say that area is about the same size as Rita, so they should be able to fit something good in there.
Steffen_Dk Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 We must hope, that it isn't going to be a clone of Rita..
Airtime&Gravity Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Mini-Stealth I think it will be a Kanoen clone, but I really hope that it is custom. Depending where in the park it is, they could do something really cool with the lay out.
Steffen_Dk Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 ^I hope so.. I think it would be a bit boring, if they build a clone of some other coaster. And a Kanonen clone would in my opinion be stupid. 2 similar coaster so near to eachother
msep003 Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Another reason to go to Copenaghen . I'm going to Denmark in April or May depends on the Airfares .
Steffen_Dk Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 Bad news. Bakken isn't getting the coaster The neighbour district has complained, and something called Naturklagenævnet (nature complaining group) has stopped the possibility of getting a new coaster. They say, it's because of the coaster size, and it will destroy the atmosphere at Bakken.
Steffen_Dk Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 Yeah I know. It's one of the most stupid things I've ever heard. 24 meters are NOT big!!!
Reon Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 Well ofcourse they cant get their coaster...Kings Island is already getting a rocket next year.
Tobias94 Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 Oh god noooo. It was the same thin with Kvasten here in Stockholm.
??? Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 ^? Kvasten is operating,so it`s not the same thing! I actually understand why they are forbiddding the coaster... The coaster is actually too big.If you look at Bakkens other coasters, they are packed in small areas. If they get this rocket coaster, they have to torn down a lot`s of wood and destroy the wonderful atmosphere around the park that makes it look so good. It`s not the heigth that is the problem,it`s the coasters area size,it can`t be packed in like the other coasters!
StyleStorm Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 Well, it did have the same heigh as Kanonen at Liseberg, so if it was a clone that was going to be build, I can't see the problem in the size, really.
??? Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 Well, it did have the same heigh as Kanonen at Liseberg, so if it was a clone that was going to be build, I can't see the problem in the size, really. Even if it should be a Kanonen clone,it should have a too big area size, and they have to torn down some of the wonderful forest atmosphere, where people can have a picnic, and go on horse ride, and where dogs can play! So,everyone IT`S NOT LAME! BTW,RCDB listed a new rollercoaster for Bakken for 2006 season, that was going to be the first of it`s kind, but maybe that coaster got cancelled...
ECZenith Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 Awww what a letdown, hopefully they still get something, maybe not so big.
