jjeerr Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 When I was at SFMM, scream wasn't "rough", but was vibrating a lot for a B&M. Going from Scream to Batman really shows how bad it is though. Tatsu didn't seem that bad, nor Sliver Bullet, so it isn't a new B&M problem
saxman47 Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 I don't know why, but some B&M's have it and some don't. I noticed a lot of vibration on Scream and Batman:TDK, but Medusa East is still smooth as glass even though it is the oldest floorless. I have heard that Hydra is also very rough (for a B&M).
Coaster Palooza Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 I have ridden all three and I must say that SCREAM! beats you up pretty good compared to the other two. Both my wife and I like Medusa at SFMW the best of the three too. It is such a smooth ride. We rode it 9 times in a row without getting off a few years ago.
sio Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 I've ridden Kraken and Scream! I prefer the first one but Scream (without parking lot theme) is a pretty good ride.
Eric_Smith Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 Personally I would choose scream if it was well themed, but now I have to vote Medusa at SFDK.
ghost007jas Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 Medusa is far better than Scream! (look at the drop and the Sea Serpent). I do love Scream!, it was a fantastic ride, with decent airtime and offers a great ride. There is no such thing as a "rough" B&M, merely a less smooth B&M
scooterdoug Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 I have been on Scream and Medusa @ SFDK. Personally, I think Medusa is by far the superior coaster. That said, I still enjoy Scream!, you simply have to approach it with a strategy. That annoying vibration seems to develop later on in the day as the weather/track/wheels heat up. The vibration starts at the bottom of the first drop, then extends to the bottom between the vertical loop and dive loop. Later on, it extends to the bottom between the dive loop and zero-g roll, etc. However, if you ride it in the morning, before things get a chance to heat up, then it delivers a fantastic, glass smooth B&M experience. Once that vibration starts to develop, however, I stay away. Only in the AM!
thrillrideseeker Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 Yes... There is a differance. Scream is really pretty and new looking and sits in a parking lot... and Medusa is like really not pretty and old looking and sits on grass! ~Matthew
kraxleRIDAH Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 Medusa in San Fran is a lot bigger, and looks like one of the best if not the best floorless? Actually, it's not a lot bigger, it's actually smaller. It may look like it because it's layout is more spread out, but Scream! is just as tall and has a longer track layout. Medusa West: 3937-feet of track; 150-feet tall Scream!: 3985-feet of track; 150-feet tall
XII Posted May 12, 2007 Posted May 12, 2007 I've been on Scream @ SFMM and Medusa @ SFDK. Medusa has a better first drop and other than that, They feel the same. The Sea Serpent Roll looks cool offride, but is no better than a Cobra Roll onride, and the shuffeling on Scream doesn't bother me at all. Dominator @ Geauga Lake looks better than both rides anyway. I'll see in 2 months.
Loco Posted May 12, 2007 Posted May 12, 2007 I love Medusa at SFDK. It's so awesome. I love the fact that it has a straight drop, something a lot of looping coasters don't have. Scream on the other hand is pretty cool, but theres nothing really unique about it. Oh and on Medusa, that exit out of the MCBR in the last row is wicked, totally caught me off guard the first time!
chmilo24 Posted May 12, 2007 Posted May 12, 2007 Actually, it's not a lot bigger, it's actually smaller. It may look like it because it's layout is more spread out, but Scream! is just as tall and has a longer track layout. Medusa West: 3937-feet of track; 150-feet tall Scream!: 3985-feet of track; 150-feet tall Aculy, Medusa West is taller and faster. Scream is 150ft with a 141ft drop and travels at 63 mph. Medusa is 150ft with a 150ft drop and travels at 63 mph. But both of them are great coasters. If MM and DK would pay a little more for some extra theming, they would be even better. Except that Scream vibrates a little more than normal and the only rough part on Medusa is on the zero-g roll. Also, it would be nice if both Medusas would get a nice fresh coat of paint.
