MrMorgan
Hey all! This past Monday, I was also at Oktoberfest in Munich. IT was crizzAAAAAAAAAAzy! I'm in the process of editing all my footage together to a fun video, (including partial POVs of Olympia Looping, Starworld, some crazy Haunted Hause, and the worlds biggest urinal). To give you an idea, here are some screenshots... We stayed away from the Nymphoburg tent, seeing as we're both in faithful long term relationships. or the BREASTZSZ? This was an animated sign on a chicken and duck stand. Do you like the leg, wing,... Hippodrom Tent. Isn't it pretty? And this is the not so famous Hoffreu Haus walkthrough. Speaking of bier tents, hier is the famous Hofbrau Haus Tent. This is the "Devil's Wheel". We came back to do this after our bier tent experience.... This is SOOOO RCT. A closer shot of the one short oustide part of the ride directly after the first lift. This is me gettin' my Robot on in front of Starworld. That's what happens, I guess. This is my friend Kolli in front of the cool indoor Starworld Spinning Coaster. And this is what I look like entering one of the loops. This is what it looks like entering one of the loops... Ahh, yes, the Olympia fricken Looping. I love this ride. Eurostar in the distance. We didn't ride it this time, though. There's better ways to get a headache than spending 6 euros for that. Notice that there is NO fence stopping people from entering this ride while it's moving! Try that in the USA... Hier are some chicks in Dierndl's. I think it isn't fair that the one on the right is covering her cleavage. Teetle. This is what time I got up to get the train to the plane that took me to Munich. Ja, that would be AM. MrMorgan
So, it's like only 4pm and there are people passing out and puking everywhere already. LIGHTWEIGHTS! And this is how the night ended for me. At least I made it to the train, (unlike some other PTR posters we've seen). teetle. I managed to be one of the first to go, and lost my shoe in the process. I was not really in much of a competetive spirit after leaving the tent. We left the tent after about 4 biers and went back to the Devil's Wheel. Um, ja, this is the urinal for one tent. He was OK, though. I think Oktoberfest Bier gives you super powers. Checkout the man on the right hand side. He's got a "Hey daddy!" look on his face, don't he? Can you spot the guy in this pic who was trying to jump over the railing? More tent madness. then make this face. You drink it like this... Obstler. It's like Pear Schnapps with 40% alc. Action shot. Notice the size of the bier compared to the size of my head. Hier I am buying our first two liters of bier from a 6 foot tall waitress. Looks like someone had a few too many french fries with mayo. This security guard was all like "you want me to hold your hair back for you?" Derek???
Hicko
Thanks for taking the time to post the pictures. Must get back to there next year
bigstevet07
Man BEER, rides, and hot german chicks. I HAVE to get to Germany eventually. About how much would one of the GIGANTIC beers be in US dollars?
captain
1 Beer is about 7,5 Euro that`s 9,5 US$! by the way thanks for Mr. Morgan for posting these great pictures. It`s always funny to see reactions from non-bavarian people visiting the Oktoberfest. I grew up in munich and visited Oktoberfest about 300 times, so we see a lot of things as normal. SharkTums
Glad to see they have those Wheels in more places! Although, I worry a bit about the amount of Puke that must surround the wheel!
RCfanatic
Nice TR! Looks like Oktoberfest is alot of fun! I'm hoping to get to Oktoberfest next year and ride Olympia and Eurostar to! Anybody know if and when these coasters pass thru Köln in 2007?
niiicolaaah
Nice pics! Do you know who makes that Starworld coaster?
MrMorgan
Funny enough, I couldn't find any info about Starworld.
bgwfreak
Awesome pics! Oktoberfest looks awesome. I couldn't even drink about 1/4 of one of those pints. I also love how Europeans have common sense about coasters. Here in America we all run up to coasters and try to jump in front of them. I'm sure glad we have fences around our rides. willski
I think its an Intamin Twist and Turn, but don't quote me on that. See for yourself: http://www.intaminworldwide.com/i_products_roller.htm

pvcoasterguy
Wow... nice TR! I'm looking forward to seeing the video. I've heard that Europeans are much more conservative drinkers than we Americans--they don't just see how much they can consume, but rather make the drinks last for awhile so they can stay up. Any truth to that? Because if they had Oktoberfest in America, I'm sure 100x more puke would be present, along with 100x more passed out people. MrMorgan
I've heard that Europeans are much more conservative drinkers than we Americans--they don't just see how much they can consume, but rather make the drinks last for awhile so they can stay up. Any truth to that? Well, I wouldn't call it more conservative. Maybe look at it this way: the drinking age is much younger here than in the States, (you can buy beer at 16 and stronger stuff at 18 ), so people learn at an earlier age how to drink responsibly. Does that make sense? Anyways, I would bet that a lot of the passed out and puking people where foreigners who aren't used to partying like people party at Oktoberfest. bgwfreak
^ That's one reason I really feel like the drinking age should be lowered in the States. If you tell a kid all their life NO! You can't drink until you're 21!!! Then what happens when they get to college? They become a drunk because they've been held back from it forever. I'm not advocating being a drunk or anything, but I think if kids here could get used to it earlier on like they do in Europe then we wouldn't have as many problems. I guess though it just comes down to culture, it seems that in Europe that drinking is more a social thing and part of your meals. Whereas in America we seem to drink just to get drunk. stingrock23
Wow, that looks like so much fun, almost like a mardi gras.
MrMorgan
Wow, that looks like so much fun, almost like a mardi gras. Although I've never been to Mardi Gras, I have been to several Karnavals here in Germany, and you're right: Oktoberfest is the same kind of atmoshpere... just with crazy rides and people in lederhosen and dierndls.
