I'm having trouble using the AHG posted in the original post of this thread. When I pull it up, it doesn't let me click anything with my mouse. Here is what it looks like when I open it.

The only thing that worked when I had this problem was to re-install Windows. I don't really see anything wrong with your specs. Maybe try running it in compatibility mode for XP.

They have a big log of everyone that have bought a copy so if you can give them enough to find you on that list means that they know you have bought it in the first place.

I made a scenery object in Maya and saved it as an .obj file. When I go to nolimits' import scenery wndow it only lets me import .3ds files. I have never touched 3DS max and yet i distinctly remember that a long time ago I did import an object to Nolimits. an .obj file, at that. How do I do it again?

You can use Wings 3D to import the OBJ file and export as a 3DS file. I haven't found a Maya plugin that lets you export as a 3DS file, only import.

Could someone give me some 3D software that can export 3ds. I tried Sketchup but found that i had to buy pro to export 3ds, and I tried Blender (maybe I just need to get better at the software) but it was really hard to make objects. Thanks!

Well, wings3D is free and can export .3ds, I dont know how to model in it so I use a program that can export .obj and then just open it in wings and export it as .3ds from there.

I use Maya, which is a costly progrma, but I think GMAX is a free one that can export OBJ if im not mistaken

You could also use Blender. It's free and super-powerful but a little unintuitive (in my opinion). There are lots of open-source extensions available for Blender, including one for OBJ export. http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Extensions:2.6/Py/Scripts/Import-Export/Wavefront_OBJ

 

Don't expect object creation to be super-easy. The free version of Sketchup only goes so far.
