mcjaco Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 When I was younger, I was a baseball nut. From 4 years old to 13, I played every summer. Then right before high school, I decided to take a "year off." I ended up running track and cross country instead. Not that it was a bad thing, I had state time in the 200m dash my Junior and Senior years. I just didn't like it as much as baseball. Fast forward ten years and I started playing softball, the bug hit and I started searching for baseball leagues. I found one and I've been playing for three years now. I love it. We play 30 games from May to September. The competition is high, as there are a lot of college and minor league experienced players in the league but, I'm managing to hold my own......and wonder why I ever quit.....
apollo210 Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 I play Basketball, Soccer, Swimming, sailing(in tiny boats, not yahts), Bocci, and that's it Sports I used to play: just baseball.

I Hockey season starts in a few days and I cant wait to start again. --Ryan "Doesnt care if I get called a Pussy because I play hockey because I get called it alot" Berry-- Random Dribbling... A Free Hit.... Some dribbling..... Ok, this normally doesnt happen to me, but sometimes does....

the sound Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 Now pissing off 50% more people on a daily basis. Lousy Americans. Australia and the rest of the non-North American world plays field hockey, also known as Hockey. Just because a few lousy countries play ice-hockey more than field hockey, doesn't mean that field hockey is a whimpy sport, and only girls play it, and that ice hockey is much better. Besides, our stricks hurt more.
BeemerBoy Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Australia and the rest of the non-North American world plays field hockey The rest of the world also thinks soccer is exciting. Besides, our stricks hurt more. I'll gladly take a 5 minute major penalty to prove you wrong. Ever felt my CCM across your forearm?
the sound Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Besides, our stricks hurt more. I'll gladly take a 5 minute major penalty to prove you wrong. Ever felt my CCM across your forearm? Huh? What the heck does that mean?
TexTitan01 Posted September 2, 2006 Author Posted September 2, 2006 It means that your wood & rubber stick would probably crack under an carbon & pressed plastic stick that hockey players use, CCM is a brand of hockey stick. And its not just North Americans that play it. Ever watch Olympic Hockey matches? Its all over Europe too, Its really probably a 30/70 ration on how many people are interested in field hockey/ice hockey. Ice hockey is just more hardcore and more fun to watch IMO; and it was THE original version of hockey. When the ice thawed that canadian hockey ancestors played on (since it all started in winter), they thought "shit now what are we gonna do, eh?" THEN they started playing field hockey. Actually I'm not even sure if thats right. Either way, Ice Hockey is better, and not just for "lousy americans" [/hockey101] -Tex
coasters 4 me Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Whao....I didn't think me saying "Hockey" would make such a big discussion. I think of it this way. American = Ice Hockey Europe (Some) & Australia (I Think) = Field Hockey For me, as you know, I love Field Hockey. I just love getting pumped up for a hockey match. Especially if your angry. You can really get your aggression out with it. And I love the way that it is a really fast sport as well. You only have split seconds to decide what you are going to do next with the ball.
Luxo Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Eh, I don't really play any sports. Although, I do skateboard a little (according to several t-shirts seen around skateparks, it is "NOT a Sport.")
TheMan Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 I am on the football team at my highschool, I play outside linebacker and Guard. I also play basketball a lot but not at school, those are my two favorite sports but i'll play anything.
willski Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 Australia and the rest of the non-North American world plays field hockey The rest of the world also thinks soccer is exciting. Besides, our stricks hurt more. I'll gladly take a 5 minute major penalty to prove you wrong. Ever felt my CCM across your forearm? Eh, slashing is only 2 minutes if it's not entirely intentional (you just have to try to make it look like an accident). That, and Easton owns CCM.... Aha! We agree on something finally! I mean, uh...., I couldn't disagree more!
BeemerBoy Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 ^ Yeah, usually just a 2 minute minor, but I've never tried to hide my intentions when slashing. I like to get my money's worth, and for that, I always ended up with the 5 minute variety. And yeah, I don't think we're allowed to agree on anything. You definitely deserve a game misconduct for that! If it happens again, we'll just have to drop the gloves and go Domi-Probert style. CCM, Easton. Eh, as long as it's not a Nike or Reebok product.
