...put a dark ride over there.

Solid idea. With CF adding dark rides to CW and Knott's (my guess CP is next) that would give the park an attraction like it has never had, appeal to many park visitors and would replace the IMAX as a place to go to cool down on a hot day.

Valleyfair games op here...the games aren't going anywhere anytime soon. They do turn a profit--I could count all the days this season where my profits didn't match my wage on one hand. They're really popular for families with kids. And they are relocating the games that got taken out for the waterpark expansion.

If the games are popular, then I guess I'm never in the right place at the right time to see them that way. I should have said this earlier, but I don't think games will completely disappear from Valleyfair and other amusement parks, they just aren't as popular as they were in the past. I forgot about the games stall taken out for the waterpark expansion getting relocated within the park. Do you (or anyone else) happen to know exactly where it's moving to?

Did Supercar ever run backwards? I've heard a couple of people say it did, but I'm not sure if that is true or not...

I would rather have Riptide taken out instead of Supercat, but maybe that it's just because I don't do water rides (I'll do some log flumes, but that is about the only water ride I'll do)

I'm surprised that the games are making such high profits, I rarely see people play, but I only go there on days where it is not busy (mainly Thursdays).

^ Yes, I have been going to the park since it opened. I also remember the dolphin show, the maze where Power Tower now sits, the old Rotor ride like the one Worlds of Fun still has and when the current entrance to High Roller was actually the exit and vice versa before they changed it. If you have never seen a Rotor ride here is a video:

I've been on that ride at WOF. I've also been on another one. Its a really fun ride. I remember riding with a rather large fellow one time, as soon as the floor dropped out down he went. It was quite humorous. He had a good attitude about. Ive also seen people flip themselves upsidedown. Dont think your supposed to do that!

The slide footers make it look like a pretty large platform. Who has been on a trapdoor slide? I went on one for the first time last summer and I have to say it was pretty thrilling! It was a looping slide which was pretty sweet!

Can anyone guesstimate about how far away these slides should be visible from? I feel like it will be most noticeable in the park, not sure about the visibility from the highway or parking lot.

The slides are going in the spot where Hydroblaster is in this picture, and they obviously going to be a bit taller than Hydroblaster, but I think that this portion of Highway 101 that's close to the waterpark is really the only place outside of the park where you'll be able to see the slide tower. We certainly won't be able to see it from the parking lot or from 169.

The tallest slides are 90 feet. Add 10 - 15 feet for a canopy and you are at 105 feet. Excalibur, renegade, extreme swing are about that tall. I think you will easily be able to see it from the highway!

Are there any really old park maps viewable online?

I was on the rotor at Six Flags Great America before a lawsuit made them remove it. Where was the one at Valleyfair?

Trapdoor slides- I've been on ones at Noah's (looping) and Six Flags St. Louis. It's hard to describe but you actually get the sensation of falling as opposed to riding a slide. I'm not sure why the concept took so long to spread from Wet n' Wild Orlando (maybe they had a patent?)

That's actually a good question. That thing has been around forever. It doesn't make sense that it took years to show up anywhere else, and just in the last couple seasons it's practically become a standard for any full-scale waterpark.

Sorry if this seems random, and it's a while out, but I decided I'm going to take a spin on Looping Starship next season just so I can say I've ridden it. Is it really as bad as everyone says it is? Also, how would rate how uncomfortable it is compared to Excalibur?

I don't know exactly where but the word on the street is that there will be some games added spread around Planet Snoopy next season. I'm not sure if any of them will be the old games from the outer island but the island isn't coming back as a whole.

It's really not that bad, people just love to be dramatic.

The bigger issue with looping starship is that it's not the most comfortable ride, and it's not that thrilling either. When I was younger I used to like it more, but I'm just not that big of a fan of blood rushing to my head. There are much worse rides out there (any B&M standup, a zacspin ride if it doesn't flip, etc)

Just don't let the OTSR dig into your chest. Allow yourself a little room, and brace against it during the ride.

Couple things:

1. Google maps over Valleyfair has been updated to show around Haunt 2014

2. Does anyone else think that Ripcord might be relocated/removed in the next few years to expand Route 76?

3. Does the lake/pond that Corkscrew goes over have an official name?

4. Does anyone else think that Riptide should remove the water element? I've noticed that most complaints surrounding it have to do with the water. I've ridden SFGAm's top spin and I would rather have one without water than with it.

5. When will something happen with the amphitheater? Either torn down or refurbished?

2) Well, Ripcord is an upcharge attraction, and I'm sure the park appreciates the extra money they make off of it, but removing it might be a possibility since it isn't that popular (at least from what I've seen). I don't see anywhere where they could relocate it, and even if they could, I think it would be a waste of time and money. I like Ripcord, so I'd be disappointed if it was removed, but wouldn't be devastated about it either.

3) No official name that I know of, but I personally call it "Lake Corkscrew".

4) I think that RipTide is probably going to keep the water element because it is always advertised as one of the cool-down rides for hot days. Plus, the ride logo and paint scheme has the water/wave theming in it, and with no water, that basically defeats the purpose of the theming. Besides, if you strongly prefer to ride it without getting wet, they do run it without the water on colder days in September and October.

5) Hopefully sometime soon. It is just stitting there wasting land that could be used for an awesome flat ride or something else more interesting. The amphitheater has been out of code for the past several years, and revamping it would be a waste of money in my opinion.

2 - I actually would be devastated if it left, because it's one of the two best I've ridden. Ours and WOF's seem to be positioned in a way that allows for more slack in the lines, prolonging the free-fall. I don't really see it leaving anyways... I'm sure it makes enough to justify using the space, and there is still much more space leading up to Route 76 that should be used first. That area still feels separate from the rest of the park.

4. I actually would rather they keep the water. It is a water ride, and that's what helps make it fun. Knotts' doesn't ever spray you, and it really does take away from the experience. That said, I wouldn't be terribly opposed to Riptide just being removed to make room for nice things.

5. We can only hope.

How do people feel about the "welcome to valleyfair" sign in front of the carousel? It seems unnecessary to me and I kinda wanna see it go and maybe replaced with a fountain to open up the plaza. Also, the other signs around the front of the park seem a bit dysfunctional--not at eye level, not in places you'd expect to see a sign, clashing sign styles. Am I the only one who'd like to see them changed?

If they're going to build a WIndseeker, I'd rather it be in the back of the park where it could be the big weenie to draw people back there, and might be able to be built higher. I like Riptide the way it is, and wish they'd turn the waterfalls back on in Thunder Canyon.

Looping Starship was another ride that was fun but got wrecked (along with Thunder Canyon and SuperCat). The newer headrests make it hard to see anything except on either side of you.

Even though a Windseeker would be a really cool addition to Valleyfair, I highly doubt it will happen because we all know about the reliability issues they've had at other Cedar Fair parks. A Windseeker would give some great views of the park and the Minnesota River Valley, but I unfortunately don't see it happening unless Mondial can work out the kinks on the Windseekers.

Also, the spot where the new slides are going has been flattened out. Hopefully that means we'll see some actual construction soon.

Wait, what is that giant hole next to the Orange/yellow building (I have never been in the water park so I don't know what it is called)? It has some really sharp corners, does anyone know what is going on there?

I really hope that we see some construction soon, but has any parts arrived at the park yet? I might need to point out I know NOTHING about water slides, waterparks, or how they are made, but does anyone know what the supports will be made of (wood or steel)?
