Calaway Park
Yea, there never seems to be any bad stuff said about them in the media! how come theres often bad stuff about gays in the media! It's quite unfair on ALL of us in the world that are gay! Because it's a turn on for straight guys. I'm not a pervert so I don't look at stuff like that but my cousin sure does. Anyway, I think these camps are wrong.. yeah... I'm straight and I still agree these are wrong. You can't change somebody into something they aren't through conformity. That's cruel. Thats like putting somebody in camp because of how they look. How do they do this? Make you stare at pictures of naked women your whole life? And people say they are "ex" gay are hiding something. That is unchangeable unless you changed your orientation for attention.
CocaColaBoy
Ex gay camps, or whatever you want to call them, are there for a reason: to change homosexuals into being heterosexuals. Peoples sexuality is, in my view, genetic, and there is a lot of scientific evidence that backs this. I was at EuroPride (London) last weekend, at at Regent Street were members of the Christian Voice political party, with placards saying how homosexuality is a sin, etc etc... and, maybe, it is - I have not read the bible and I am certainly not going to in any hurry. But even if it is, what business is it of theirs to say this? It feels like that if its printed, it must be law, and everyone, Chrstian or otherwise, must abide by this law! However, when someone is perceived to be different from the normal (whatever that might be) there will always be people protesting this. I get a lot of ignorant people telling me how evil my religion is, (Satanism) without first reading, or even attempting to understand what its about. Hopefully the ex-gay camps are stopped, because you are effectively converting someone into what they are not, but that that is discriminating againt those who belief this to be a way forward (read: religion used in the wrong context). To me it is discrimination against gay people for telling them you cannot be this way which can do a lot of damage, and perhaps make the person take their own life, especially younger people (under 16). Red
These Christian extremists are no different than their Muslim counterparts, and should be treated exactly the same. And to those who are forced to go to these camps, it's time to reevaluate if your parent(s) really love you or not.
Twister II
Peoples sexuality is, in my view, genetic, and there is a lot of scientific evidence that backs this. Really? I am gay, and in my searching threw various family trees projects, and living very close to my family, I know that I am the only gay person in my line of family that I know of. BeemerBoy
These Christian extremists are no different than their Muslim counterparts, and should be treated exactly the same. LOL. Yeah, um, I'm thinking not quite the same situation there, chief. I'll tell you what; the day I see Christian extremists blowing up busloads of innocent people in an attempt to make a point through suicide bombings, then I'll agree with you. Protests with placards is nowhere near wearing a vest full of C4.
Canobie Fan
People always complain about guy guy why not girl girl? It's basicly the same damn thing right? Oh my god.. Its like im back in High School! TheArchfiend
Wow, never knew such a thing as gay camps existed but it doesn't really surprise me at all. I used to live out by the state of Utah and the stories I've heard from there are shocking and make gay camps look like a walk in the park. I agree with the others here that said this is basically along the same lines of a fat camp. I'm not really against this and have no problem if some concerened parents want their kid strait or want their kid non-obese. I wouldn't care if my son or daughter was strait or gay, I'd just want them to be happy. Hell, parents drag their kids to religious services in hopes that they grow up to share the parents point of views of their own religion. You never hear a major outcry to stop bringing kids to church, temple, etc... and church/religion is pretty much a similar brainwashing (if you will) tactic as a gay camp. "This is the way to believe/act and love thy god", is what a church/religion would preach. That is the same thing as; "this is the way to act and who to love", that's what would be preached in a gay camp.

Well, there is no one else gay in my family, except for me but that does not automatically make it a non genetic thing. I am also the only member of my family with hyperoxaluria Type 1 and that is most definitely, 100% genetic.

TheArchfiend
All were married (to the opposite sex) and had more than 2 or more kids. So was the last elected Governor of New Jersey, Jim McGreevy. ScOtT k
Sorry dude, this is nothing like a concentration camp. Everyone walks out of gay camp alive. No one walked out of a concentration camp... Except at liberation.

That's kind of what t.A.T.u. was marketing on. Turns out they aren't actually lesbians... I like their music though - whether they are gay or not. I know what you mean though. Everyone acts like gay men is so much worse than gay women. I know a few homophobic people - don't know what their problem is.

Masked_Maverick
I'm sorry but how can you compare these camps to concentration camps? I think they come closer to Re-education camps not concentration camps. In concentration camps many jewish people were killed. Have any gay people been killed at any of these places? Probably not. Twister II
Yes, this topic has already been brought up. Have any gay people been killed at any of these places? Probably not. A high percentage rate commit suicide after words. Now I've got a new image of ex-gay camps as a gay guy cramped into a small box, being poked with a cattle prod, with a man in a white lab coat screaming "VAGINA, VAGINA!"
