TPRMemes 4: Theme Park Good Guy Greg!
BeemerBoy replied to Wes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ Winner. Game over. -
Yeah, we really need to hit up Andretti or this place one day.

It's been about two and a half weeks, I'm on level 14, and overall the gameplay is feeling rather stagnant and uninspired. The repetitive hurry up and wait element just doesn't really do it for me. If it didn't act as a time filler throughout the day, I probably would've quit several levels ago. It's free though, so I shouldn't complain. EDIT: Case in point....I just logged in this morning and collected my bonus (or whatever) for playing today, which was a Mystery Box. Cool, so I click it and it's another Mystery Box. Okay, let's see what's inside....a wooden fence. Seriously, an effin' wooden fence?? That's supposed to inspire me to keep playing? lol

Erik and Joey, thanks! Oddly, it took a couple attempts, but things seem to be back online for me now.

Someone can take my spot. I just happened to know that one right off the bat because it's one of my favorites! -

^ Good Will Hunting? -
I had trouble logging in throughout yesterday afternoon, so I put it aside for a while. I tried logging in again late last night to no avail, then was prompted for my password, which I typed in, and it looked like things were gonna be okay. Next thing I know, the game is starting from the very beginning and I'm left with Homer standing there alone. Wonderful. I was going along just fine around level 12, I think, but all seems lost at this point. Oh well, tough to complain about a free game. It was fun while it lasted.

Chima > Potter. Seriously though, this looks like an excellent addition. -
^ Karnival simply caters to a low class demographic, and can therefore get away with offering an inferior product. And if you never get anything but a slap on the wrist, or your stock never plummets without ever recovering after you openly disregard environmental laws, your fleet consistently suffers mechanical problems, or even when you kill 32 people from a captain's negligence, why would you worry? Just keep providing sh!tty service to the peasants who enjoy a low class vacation in "paradise," and they'll ultimately keep your pockets filled. Most other lines don't choose to act and/or follow a "klassy" business model the way Karnival's management does because the other lines have better ethics and morals......thankfully. I honestly think it's just as simple as that. And I don't apologize to those who support them either. The truth hurts sometimes.

The last time we rode it, it was...I kid you not....a 51 second ride from the moment my feet left the ground to the moment they touched back down. I only know this because we watched it run once while waiting in line and commented on how short it seemed, so I timed our ride on the phone stopwatch. We literally cycled around twice I think. We didn't get bent out of shape or anything, but it was rather humorous....and odd, considering the line was almost non-existent that day.

This. Is. AWESOME. Yep, nice to know I can still freely gamble my hard earned money by taking a Carnival cruise any day I want, but I still can't log onto PokerStars and gamble there. Not sure if I've mentioned it before, but I'd give anything to watch Mickey Arison sink to the bottom of the Atlantic on one of his private megayachts. It'll be a cold day in hell before I ever give Carnival a dime from my pocket.

Disney World vs. Universal Orlando
BeemerBoy replied to eltororider's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well, they do...sort of. http://themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=44560&start=550 No, it's not along the lines of your discussion, but it's a major "expansion" nonetheless. It's pretty much an unfair argument any time these threads pop up discussing which company is "better off" at any given time. And that's mostly because their properties expand beyond just their theme parks, yet most people fail to acknowledge the ongoing improvements to the entire property each year. To me, every Central Florida park continues to handle their growth perfectly in order to stay on par which each other (WDW, SWO, UO, BGT, and even LegoLand now). Universal invests in what they feel is profitable, and Disney does likewise. Some people like one style, others like another, but they're both FAR from overall decline in any major category. -

Counterpoint: Ships operate in hurricane season ALL the time, and it's not uncommon for many of them to make last minute course changes to avoid potentially deadly seas. So, technically speaking, a ship could certainly sink if were caught stranded in the middle of the Atlantic or Caribbean with no power during an oncoming hurricane. That was pretty much the basis for my original point.

Hehe...Hi, Joe! I know Miami's spending a bunch in free agency, but I've suffered far too long to get overly excited about anything they do. We'll see though. There's always hope. -

^ Ha! Funny thing is, they actually did have a live dolphin behind the west end zone sometime in the late 70's/early 80's(?). I can still remember watching the Miami Seaquarium truck roll by our tailgating spot before each game to load him into the pool. And if I remember correctly, he'd even grab the field goals and extra points that landed in the pool....which looking back on it, is pretty messed up.
