  1. I don't know. I like to think it probably played out like this: Project Manager [bursts into meeting room] - "Okay, who the eff blew the budget on a stylized, interpretive military installation exterior design?!?!?!? Think, people....THINK. We're in Southern California. DUMB IT DOWN! I'm leaving for lunch. When I get back I wanna see a new version with two effin' airbrushed cardboard cut-out robots fighting on the side of the building.....and that's it. I want it to say, 'There's a ride over here with Transformers fighting and blowing stuff up,' and nothing more. Got it? Good. Get it done."
  2. I actually really like the layout....and the ground-hugging "Scorpion-like" helix looks sweet! Any guess on a price tag?
  3. During the design process, Morgan gave Busch the option of a traditional support structure or their special visually interesting support structure that would one day become the subject of a thread on a message board.
  4. I guess you must've just navigated right past this on the previous page, huh? I really feel you should stop posting in this thread. Your post about the NCL Epic had no point, you're questioning people who know what they're talking about (re: BMG), seriously just stick to another thread please.
  5. ^ I doubt capacity would ever be that big of an issue. Regardless of what attraction a ship holds, there's no way 4,000+ people would constantly have it bogged down. There's plenty to do on any ship. Crowds always disperse, and you'll always be able to find certain "down times" to enjoy an attraction (ex: when the ship's in port). Personally, I'd rather not see ships turn into floating carnivals. I think Allure is tastefully done, but I'd rather see more waterpark features in the future, if anything.
  6. Hopefully they won't catch on that I'm someone from TPR and void it. Well, then posting it here was a brilliant move.
  7. Didn't you mock up a wonderful logo in your younger days? Please post it. I agree, please post it. It remains one of the finest artistic works of the last century.
  8. ^ Agreed. And that's coming from a lifelong Celtics fan.
  9. Japan trip reports are definitely the exception. Any pictures of Japan are more than welcome in your report. In fact, the more the merrier!
  10. You can, but it's actually a rather docile and non-confrontational building; so I'd advise against it because you really wouldn't be proving anything, and it's best not to step out of line in a foreign country anyway. Still love those Formula Rossa trains.
  11. Ladies and gentlemen, your Karnival clientele at its finest.
  12. No, I hadn't seen that yet. Definitely low klass....but right on par though. I'll tell ya though, I still think the biggest positive for Karnival is that most of their workforce is comprised of foreigners. There's no way in hell Americans would continue to work through those conditions at that payrate. There would be an absolute mutiny if something like this happened with an American workforce! I cringe at the thought.
  13. ^ I hear what you're saying, but I'm guessing the thought process was, "well, it's all gonna need to be replaced anyway...". Wait, that's giving them and Karnival too much credit. Nevermind.
  14. ^^ Two minutes on CruiseCritic? That's two minutes more than I would have had the patience for! Without question, the way Karnival has handled this media relations disaster stems directly from Mickey Arison's ego.....I 100% guarantee that. He's been my least favorite CEO for decades, and shows no signs of giving up that top spot.
  15. ...all valued at close to $700 total. I'm still trying to muster some sympathy for the passengers, but it's really tough. Taking a Karnival cruise is like touring Chernobyl and then complaining of cancer years later. You should undoubtedly know you're rolling the dice, and have no ability to sue after **** hits the fan (pun intended).
  16. This is still my favorite news headline: I guess it's only natural a turd finds its way to a toilet.
  17. ^ At least they still have control over the staff. Imagine if those were American employees.
  18. It takes a great balance of knowledge, skill, and luck to nail the dark ride shots. Nice work there!
