  1. Excellent take TC Ridesalot. Your security concerns seems to be a growing concern across the country. I too avoid Saturday's but have found Friday night and Sunday to be issue free. I've worked the Haunts the last couple of years and have seen first hand the type of people you're describing. I have found that security is quick to respond and that they always take care of any issues that we've mentioned. Even if their right on top of ever single call it's still an issue that there would be so many. On to the flats - What would you add? I like the idea of a Revolution and a Dark Ride shooter.
  2. Why worry about the timing of the announcement? You're still not going to ride it until next year and you'll still have all winter to watch the animations. There's a lot of things that the park probably wants to have in order before they make it public. A website for the ride (construction gallery, blog, videos...) The videos, which are developed by an outside company and probably take some time. The media kit for the actual media. A plan for the advertising campaign And in addition to doing all of this they still have to pull off their regular job.
  3. I'm with TC Ridesalot. As a kid the park was a lot of fun and it was a totally different environment. If Hunt hung around the park would have continued to go down hill though. I don't think that you'll find anyone that's happy that Zinger was taken out. Outside of that ride any other removal is hard to get upset about and the additions have been above and beyond what Hunt would have ever considered. As for theme - there probably wasn't a ton of attention paid to it after the acquisition but as of late the park as stepped up the effort. Spinning Dragons has the same level of theme as any Hunt installation and the area around it looks great. Patriot and it's plaza makes the former beat street area look like a back alley. I'm not 100% sure but wasn't Vitrix removed during the Hunt years? If you want to see a full park head up there in the fall. Saturday Haunts were packed.
  4. I've never understood the Hunt days argument. I grew up with the Hunt times and prefer these days by a lot. Patriot and Mamba wouldn't have ever happened under Hunt.
  5. Looks promising. The best case scenario would be more affordable coaster options for the parks that are actually ridable.
  6. I'm not understanding the Hersey Park angle but then again I haven't followed their teasers. I don't understand how a PR team having some fun with a camera = fail??? They seem like the types that would be cheesy on purpose so wouldn't that = success?
  7. The Euro-fighters made me a skeptic of everything similar. I loved the concept but once I started riding them I changed my tune.
  8. I see your point now. It's not a sin to be skeptical. I still am as well.
  9. Why would it have to be spectacular? Do you only ride the spectacular rides when you visit a park?
  10. I think that it's just the PR team having a little fun.
  11. The latest WoF blog entry seems interesting. http://www.worldsoffun.com/public/news/blog/index.cfm?year=2008&month=7&day=6
  12. I'm talking about the the steel track that is found on wood coasters. Wood bends pretty easily.
  13. Is it for wood bending or steel?
  14. I can see that. They should certainly garner a great deal of attention on the open market. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a foreign company that winds up pulling the trigger though.
  15. How could selling off a profitable business unit increase the stock price?
  16. GCI doesn't build "giant record breaking" rides.
  17. And it was bright and early in the morning.
  18. A delivery was made yesterday. http://coastercommunity.com/gallery2/v/Construction/wof2009/
  19. It will be interesting to see who actually bought the wood coasters.
  20. I would skip it and just ride Pony Express over and over. This post is meant as a total joke. Why in the name of zues' butthole would you visit a park and not ride one of their coasters?
  21. Where did you hear that from? The PR guy put the shorter than Boomerang teaser out on the WoF blog.
  22. Worlds of Fun's PR fella has been updating the blog with dirt movement. They seem to be concentrating on the area under Boomerang. http://www.worldsoffun.com/public/news/blog/index.cfm?entry=994d6d5e-ccce-40b8-aa07-7167a03417a6 http://www.worldsoffun.com/public/news/blog/index.cfm?entry=519f881b-24ee-4a87-95f1-a6f30479426d
  23. The park opened today and I went up there to get a look at the area in question for myself. It's flag-a-licous. They're everywhere on the backside of the park and now trees over by Fury of the Nile are marked as well. After a train ride this is my best guess on the flag locations. You can only see a couple of the flags from inside the park you'll have to ride the train to see the bulk of them. Here's a couple of flags shots. http://showip.be/url/ar9
