  1. Think Huss Topspin restraints and push them in even tighter. Then hang upside-down for around five seconds and you get Inverter.
  2. If anyone cares, my birthday was good as well.
  3. Outlaw is way better than it looks. It's tiny compared to other modern coasters (just over 70 feet), but it packs a seriously good punch.
  4. You know, comparitavely, this piece is really not all that bad. It's nothing compared to the crap ASO comes out with. For the most part, it's fairly objectve, but one thing REALLY bothers me. They act like it was no big deal that the students broke the rules. That's been pretty well implied throughout this thread, but I've just gotta say it straight out. They talk about the rule-breaking as a simple plot point; they stress it as much as they stress the layout of the slide itself. That's where this piece goes bad. If not for that and the remark of the guy interviewing the Premier rep ("Maybe you should..."). this piece would have absolutely amazed me in its level of sophistication and professionialism (comparitavely, of course). Even grocery stores do that. Not their problem if you destroy a cart with you SUV. Parks really should put up signs like that. "Although the chances are literally millions to one, if you or a member of your party is injured or killed during his or her time at this amusement facility due to his or her own actions or because he or she broke a posted rule, we will not be held liable."
  5. For some reason, I remember the VF! Starship having different restraints. I don't know, I might be wrong. I don't remember the two sides of the OTSR connecting like that, and they were even thinner. So uncomfortable. I would like the rides a lot more if they didn't hurt so damn much in such a bad area. I would almost rather ride an Inverter.
  6. Man, this thing is going to be crammed in there. Did someone say headchoppers?
  7. Happy birthday from your fellow birthday-ite! January 9th is truly the beest day to have a birthday.
  8. First, I have been to Holiday World. Great place. Second, you're totally right. I completely see how stupid I was being. I didn't even consider the fact that Top Gun is themed around airplanes and plane flying. Flight Deck totally doesn't fit that. At all. What were they thinking? To the rest of ya's: Explain to me why the name "Voyage" is any different in level of creativity from "Flight Deck." Seriously. It's an obvious name, especially for a long ride. If it's so important that Cedar Fair stop using obvious names, why shouldn't other parks and chains follow suit?
  9. Seriously, it is really not that "cheesy." Why is this so important to you all? Because a few people will laugh at it and say "Wow, that name is really stupid"? Are they attacking you personally by doing this? I still fail to see what's so "cheesy" about Flight Deck. It's not a great name, but it definitely isn't that bad. There have been way, way worse names. I repeat: Voyage. Even more generic and pointless than Flight Deck. No change in guest experience. Not a big deal. Stop whining.
  10. Because Stunt Fall was a totally awful addition. They were new rides. Glitches happen. That doesn't make them bad additions. Maverick had bugs. Dragster had (and still has) bugs.
  11. Should Six Flags send their Deja Vus to your home park then? Yes, please.
  12. I finally rode Valleyfair!'s in 2006. Terrible ride. Don't know why you enjoy them.
  13. ^^^No, I remember that one. It was longer ago than that, I think. I was probably really young. It was definitely an actual wooden coaster, not a mine cart.
  14. Anyone remember that MMR show a long time ago that was the ultra-intense roller coaster? I think it was called "Rumbler" or "Rattler" or something to that effect.
  15. Seriously, why is this such a big deal to you? No one's life is at stake, the only things we're losing are a couple of names (that took even less creativity, actually, if you think about it), and the rides themselves aren't changing. They're effing names, people. I don't care if you don't like them, this doesn't deserve eight pages of whining and bashing. In fact, there are exactly two people in this thread who have yet to make a big deal about it. Yeah, they're absolutely not the best names ever, but neither are Voyage, Scream, or Texas Giant. And then you've got the myriad names that came from television shows or movies, which required absolutely no creativity whatsoever. Personally, I don't mind the names themselves, but I really couldn't care less.
  16. My understanding is that it will be like that in part. What waterpark is that? Wasserbahn out in the Amanas? Only thing I can think of. I suppose they could use the area behind the flat ride midway and Raging River for a coaster. There really isn't much room in the park as it is now.
  17. Adventureland: Getting Adventure Island. That means nothing in 2009. Worlds of Fun: Obviously, this won't be in 2008, but they should add a good GCI twister in Scandinavia or Africa in '09. In 2010, they should merge with OoF (with an OoF expansion, of course). Valleyfair!: Nichts für jetzt. Cedar Point: I hope CP doesn't get anything for 2009. Maybe a restaurant.
  18. I was at IKEA yesterday. Didn't see any track. Must be in there.
  19. Hah, at first I though this meant that the train split in half down the middle, lol.
  20. False, Avatar is one of the highest quality shows on modern Nickelodeon. Excited for more construction, though. Thanks for the pictures.
  21. ^I had an idea once that someone could manufacture some sort of track that could stop and start the swinging (something like a 4D track, but with a totally different purpose). I'm sure that's incredibly far-fetched, but I was younger then. It's such a shame that this ride was removed. Vortex is not a great ride and Top Gun could've been so much more than it is. It's really sad that that wonderful terrein was hardly used at all in the design of Vortex. So much pontential in both replacement rides. Very sad part of coaster history.
  22. How do you even know that all of Voodoo will be that color? How did you even come to the conclusion that that matters at all? I sincerely doubt an average guest at Dorney Park is going to look at Voodoo and say "ZOMG THAT'S STUPID ITS TEH SAME AS TEH WICKID TWESTIR AT CEDR PONT!!!!!!!11" Magnum, Mamba, and Steel Force all have distinctly different trains. Spinning Dragons and Iron Dragon are family coasters, for the love of God. No one cares. The tracks themselves are so different that it's barely noticable anyway. Wild Thing is almost yellow, it's not nearly the color of Hydra. Raptor is Hydra's track plus Wild Thing's supports. If you absolutely must nit-pick, that is. Six Flags definitely does this. What would you say happened with Goliath at La Ronde? Or how about Goliath at SFoG? Actually, all of the Goliaths, plus Titan have a copied color scheme and different themes. IMO, using the same name over and over and over and over is far more annoying than using the same color scheme. But either way, I'd like to know when it became a crime to utilize a certain set of colors. I'm really sick of all this Cedar Fair hate that sprung up all of a sudden, and with no apparent reason. There's nothing wrong with the parks at all. They keep clean, GR is actually helpful, they've got some great rides, and they look nice. The only things I ever hear people complaining about are the colors of rides, the ending "-hawk," trash cans, and the amount of concrete. That, in my opinion, is WAY overdoing it. Not to name names, Mt. Olympus, but a park can have way worse problems. Those are mundane little details, and if they truly interfere with your experience at the park, you should seek professional counseling. [/rant] Back to topic now.
  23. Thanks for asking that. I might be getting an iMac soon, and I needed to know.
  24. Ja, ich auch. Deutschland ist die beste Land und Deutscher ist die beste Sprache. This is quite a fun little surprise. I'm excited.
