  1. ^ Looks like a Eurofighter Style Vertical Lift Hill, not a Rotating Elevator Lift.
  2. Has it been confirmed by CAI/Zamperla that the Lift will indeed be the Vertical Rotating one, like in the Video, or a Vertical Lift Hill like Gerstlauer Eurofighters in the other Graphics?
  3. You could call Undertow an SC-2000 Series 4 as it's the first of the 4th Evolution of the ride model. - Sid
  4. I've always heard that the Belts on Intamins, B&Ms, & S&S Rides are not a Redundancy System for the Restraints, but simply to indicate if a Rider is too Large to Ride, as there are Double and Triple Redundancies already built into the Restraint. Mondial has a Triple Redundant System on a Large Majority of their Rides that use Ratchet Pins, Hydraulic Locks, and a Pneumatic Release. - Sid
  5. If the chain were to snap, the Magnetic Brakes would allow the Train to roll back down the lift at a controlled speed.
  6. As far as I know, Stakotra Manufacturing and Rutin Ltd. are still the only Fabricators for Intamin/IntaRide, LLC. -Sid
  7. ^ It's a Chain Dog, just like all of the Transportable Schwarzkopf Looping Coasters with Straight Lifts, like Fire Dragon at Lagoon. http://schwarzkopf-coaster.net/achterbahnen-detail-antriebe-GF.htm -Sid
  8. Considering Zamperla just supplied Disney with Mater's at DCA and the new Dumbo for the Magic Kingdom, I wonder how they will feel about Disney patenting their Demolition Derby Ride System. - Sid
  9. When I trained my Ride Operators at Lagoon as an Area Lead, I always used to say, "These aren't just Amusement Rides, but Large Mechanical Devices that CAN Kill you and Others. It is YOUR Responsibility to Operate this Ride and Conduct yourself in a Safe Manor. If at anytime you feel something isn't safe and/or needs attention, suspend operation and call one of us immediately. Guests WILL do Stupid Things and Ignore Safety Instructions so you must be Alert at All Times while the Ride is in Operation." Robb is 110% correct and most of us who have worked in the industry all have stories of Stupid People doing uncomprehendingly Stupid Things that Defy ALL Logic! Hell, I had one guy that jumped out of a Rattlesnake Rapids (Intamin River Rapids) Boat into the Trough on Camera (Operator Immediately Hit the E-Stop). I was the Sup on the Ride and ran down the ramp to the Bottom of the Lift where he had gotten back into the boat. I asked him why he did it and he told me, "I didn't get wet enough so I jumped in." I immediately called security and my superiors and he was kicked out of the park. In 1990, after the deaths on Puff and Roller Coaster at Lagoon in 1989, Lagoon modified the lap bars on Puff, added seat belts, removed the "Buzz Bars" on Roller Coaster, added individual lap bars, added seat dividers, and instituted a policy that there must be two riders in the back and front rows on each roller coaster train. -Sid
  10. Lagoon did this same thing with Spider in 2011 after the Death on Xtreme at Dixie Landin' until the Investigation was complete.
  11. This is done because of the two deaths from single riders in the back seat of Puff and Roller Coaster in 1989 and so in the event of an incident, those in the front can see the track and the back the entire train.
  12. ^ A train hasn't operated on that track, it's just where the primer/wheel stripes has weathered away. - Sid
  13. ^ None of the other SC-2000s have taken that long to commission. Maurer even had to remove a brace on an upright and fabricate a column on site for Spider and that only took a few days. Spider was up, themeing completed, and running in a Month. If there is in-fact a delay, it could be with US Customs, as Lagoon's Tipsey Tea Cups and Red Rock Rally were held up by that this spring. - Sid
  14. The Blue and Light Gray Track is from Intermountain Lift for Premier, the Dark Gray Track is Stakotra for Intamin, and the Orange Track is Gerstlauer. - Sid
  15. Struck, who created and produced Lagoon's 2013 Commercial has posted on their blog about their work for Lagoon. http://struck.com/blog/2013/05/lagoon-defining-fun Here are the Videos: [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]Lagoon - Best Friends [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]Lagoon 2013 - Let Fun Reign - Sid
  16. You are correct sir, however most parks up it due to the operations of the ride.
  17. Why would Blast Off have a lower Height Requirement than all other S&S Towers?
  18. I believe Cedar Point still fabricates their own aluminum queue rails.
  19. The Transportable SC-2000s can be erected in 36 Hours with 1 Crane and an 8 man Crew. Since Undertow is the Base Frame Park Model (Xtended SC-2000), it shouldn't take them more than 10 Days to put it up. -Sid
  20. Lagoon is going up over 200ft on piles that are down 120ft. They are big 24" diameter piles as well. Wonder how deep they would have to go in Florida. -Sid
  21. Well, if it's a top notch River Rapids Ride, it has Chlorinator Pumps. If not, they just dump lots of Chlorine and Hydrochloric Acid in the water to make it "safe." -Sid
  22. In regards to a Drop Tower and Soil Conditions. Couldn't they just Drive Piles to Bedrock like a lot of Coasters and Rides? Lagoon has 3 Coasters (one under construction) built on Piles...Wicked, BomBora, and their new "Mega" Coaster. -Sid
