Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
Erik Johnson replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This is why I always recommend that if you travel to CP, and you are not a local, make sure you schedule to visit the park for a minimum of two days. During my very first visit we had torrential rain as well as misty showers until early afternoon. Everything was closed until they got the corkscrew open at around 1:30-2:00. If I did not have the second day, it would have been impossible to earn all of the credits. -

If they go with family coaster, a clone of San Diego's Manta would be cool. -

I have about a 100 eggs to drop off. I am not looking to trade. Anyone need them?

I had not been to Six Flags Great America since the TPR Midwest Trip in 2007. I felt like this was the time for me to make a return visit. I always felt that SFGam has one of the better coaster collections in the chain, plus they have added three new coasters since my last visit. I ended up deciding to go visit the park on opening day. Many people were anticipating this day because it marked the debut of Batman: The Ride Backwards. I myself am not a fan of going backwards on a coaster (though shuttles are fine) so I ended up taking photos instead of riding. Everyone else seemed to enjoy it though, but prepared for some real intense moments. Be warned, it looks like that there is only one train and the ride is NOT on the Qbot system. Make sure that you get to the park early! I finally got around to riding X-Flight, which I did enjoy. Overall I thought it was a better coaster than Dollywood's Wild Eagle (though Wild Eagle still has a more amazing view/location). I will be looking forward to riding Gate Keeper next month so I can compare all three Wing Riders. It was great to be able to hang out with old, as well as new, friends for the day. Are you ready for some photo? Here you go! The Oasis! I remember being amazed by this place when I was very young. Heading in the back way. It looks like we are in the right place. It sure is! You got to take one of these pictures....right? Batman: The Ride Backwards is NOW OPEN! No, they did not try to reverse the theming. The backwards train has 7 rows instead of 8. Backwards Batman....wow! TPR members are among the very first to ride. The queue instruction signs are currently covered up to avoid any confusion. It really does look strange in the station. The capes are a nice touch. Ready for your ride? Crazy backwards. Up they go! Backwards Batman...through the trees! Weeeeee! Weeeeeee! Part 2 Weeeeeee! Part 3 Weeeeeeee! Part 4 I was sooo happy that V2 was running Little Dipper was the first of three credits I needed for the day. All about Little Dipper. I also needed X-Flight! There it goes! I thought it was a good solid ride. I give it a B. I like the long drawn out inversions. One of several close misses. These trains are quite large. I understand that it is a tradition to ride the roller skater on opening day. I sure hope that more rides will be returning to Qbot later this year. One no longer fits with all of the others. Ooooo! First time I have ever seen this open! If you were there the same day, can you find your car? Backwards Batman from up high! Superman running one train = 2 hour wait. The new kid on the block! Looks a little different from this angle. Viper was running well today. Happy about to ride Viper people. Weeeeeeee! The weather was just about perfect that day. Did someone say Raging Bull? Weeeeeee! Bull doing what it does. Yes, I was really happy to see this. I was lucky to be hanging out with some awesome people, I was able to bypass the 75 minute line with an exit pass. This was the final credit I needed at the park. Park Cleared! Again! One final Batman photo. I am not sure how long this will last. Good night!

^ They were running only one train in X-Flight for one! Also Superman and Whizzer were only one as well. Lines were over 90 mins to two hours for both X-Flight and Superman. Thank goodness for the guy above me winning those exit passes. Otherwise I probably would not have been able (or willing) to wait in the 75 minute line to get my Dark Knight credit. I understand that it was opening weekend, but not having two trains on X-flight was pretty inexcusable.

Eclipse looks great! Thanks for sharing.

I ended up sitting out on this myself. While I think it was really neat to see in action, I knew that I would not enjoy the ride at all because it would have made me sick. I was perfectly fine to take a bunch of pictures of everyone enjoying the ride. I did ride everything else that day and I can say that I did enjoy X-Flight. Lucky for me that I already had the Batman credit.
