  1. OMG, love the setup of Elissa facing her past and Ryan the present... -James Dillaman
  2. Any themepark that doesn't offer something new every couple of years, either with new rides or new shows or festivals, will eventually see a large decline in GP attendance. The themepark business relies on parks putting in new attractions. Most people only go to a seasonal themepark like VF maybe once or twice a year, or if they can't afford that, once every couple years. Without any new rides, a park can become mundane for the season pass holders, and they are the ones funding the park with food/drink and other add-on sales. Most parks don't rely on out of state people coming to ride a new B&M hyper... I'm just pleased they're getting a new coaster. Look at PKI, I was dissapointed with Italian Job, and felt they could have built much better coasters, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy riding it, and the GP like it also, as it's usually one of the longest lines in the park. Most people don't care who makes the coaster, or how tall it is (As they always think the coaster that's new is the tallest and fastest in the world anyway ) GCI builds good coasters, even when their layout doesn't look that great in the animations. (Look at Kentucky Rumbler). -James Dillaman
  3. It does say the cable snapped, but it does not say why. I'm sure it will be looked into, but accidents do happen. I think all the bungee's should be examined of course, but just because one snapped after only 400 "ejections" doesn't mean they all will. That's why it's caled an accident.
  4. looks like a woodie control box to me, narrows it down a bit, and it looks pretty new... -James Dillaman
  5. My best is in another thread, and I don't feel like voting again, besides that one had a poll if I remember correctly. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1046&highlight=inverted here ya go even includes non B&M inverts, but we all know those aren't better than most b&m's anyways. -James Dillaman
  6. The media? making a mistake? No, the ride obviously is a bungee jump, as the media knows all and is never wrong. -James Dillaman
  7. They sound safe to me: The bungee snapped and the man WALKED AWAY with only scrapes and bruises. It was an accident, and the injuries could have been much worse if the ride didn't act properly like it was designed to in the event of a failure. I loathe how whenever there's an ACCIDENT people say "OMG it isn't safe! Never ride these rides!" I chalk this one up to the law of averages until I hear otherwise. -James Dillaman
  8. Funny, the GP sure seems to love the Beast at PKI, even though it is braked (even more this season, damnit!) WAY too much, and has no airtime. Most people I run into there are asking where it is, and I've heard many times "This is the best coaster in the world" from members of the GP. It doesn't matter IMO, as the GP won't even know that the new ride isn't made by B&M, because for all they know B&M also builds wooden coasters. -James "The GP are glad for any coaster or large flat ride, look at SoB" Dillaman
  9. Yeah, for the most part, GCI builds much more unique rides (of the ones I've been on) than B&M (of the ones I've been on). I'd love for them to tear down SoB and build a coaster like this there instead. With a couple outstanding coasters as exceptions, I find B&M's to be usually pretty similar and boring, not to mention quite a bit of headbanging on the standups and inverted coasters. -James "Looking forward to reviews of Renegade from people who've RIDEN it!" Dillaman
  10. I actually would also caution you to not bite off more than you can chew. But by all means, we all want to see this thing built, I'm sure! IMO I wouldn't have my final grade hang on something of this magnetutde though, unless you get graded on the effort... -James Dillaman
  11. Nice Photos, Guy! Knotts seems to do a much better job than PKI with their scareactor makeup, and there are definitely more shows and themed things at Knotts based on your pictures. Hopefully CF will implement some of the same ideas here in the coming years. Glad you didn't expose the youngin's to incurable trauma so early on in their lives. With all the problems they'll already have just from being your children, they don't need anything else on their plates! -James "You know I'm kidding " Dillaman
  12. Nice photos, Ted. SFOG is one of my most sought after parks right now. It's Juuuuuuuuust too far away to make a day trip out of it... -James Dillaman
  13. Uhh....95 degree drop into a dive loop into some brakes. Then some other randomness. Not saying it will suck, but best steel of '07? I doubt it. Random? This is the most thought out ride of '07 if you ask me. The best storyline hands down, and I believe the theming will be very good. I don't think MM will dissapoint! -James Dillaman
  14. Hey, I went there Saturday also. WTF was up with all the party hats? I saw some saying "I am a fool". I just got my MAXX pass, so whenever you're going, drop me a line. I'll probably be going next saturday after 2:00 or so. -James Dillaman
  15. ^XLR-8 had a couple cars backwards at the rear of the train. The problem with the ride was mainly slow pacing. It was boring forwards, so backwards didn't change much, just a little more disorienting. -James "The trees around it were pretty, though" Dillaman
  16. ^ Don't worry, you're just getting into girls (or boys, not that there's anything wrong with that). The coaster obsession will come back once you realize that everyone you will date will either be crazy or evil. -James "Hopefully my fiancé won't read this " Dillaman
  17. OMG, I was wondering when this would happen, first thing I thought when I heard Derek was in Germany for Oktoberfest was "I wonder how many hours he lasts until he passes out." -James Dillaman
  18. As I've developed more "responsibility" I have less and less time and money to induldge my theme park fetish ( ) but, I get pleasure from going to just a few parks per year, concentrating on going to a park I've never been to, or haven't been to for many years, instead of spending money on a season pass for my local park. You may want to try it, as if you add up the money it costs you to visit your home park, say, 10 times, you can probably take a small trip to a relatively close nighboring theme park, and go with a few friends if you have to split a hotel room. You'll probably be surprised at what a great time you'll have. Quality over Quantity is what I believe in, even though many people here are hung up on quantity (how many times you ride one coaster in a visit, how many credits you have, etc.). You'll find what's good for you. -James Dillaman
  19. These are not wild roaches, they are RAISED as FOOD, therefore it isn't much different than eating a cheeseburger, except it isn't cooked yet . Many people eat bugs, many cultures around the world would have no problem with this. Most of those cultures are african or south american, which means their skin is black, which means PeTA is racist, because white people food and american food is okay, but something they eat in Africa or South America isn't alright. BS. -James Dillaman EDIT: ^beat me too it, but left out the racism,
  20. ^ Just don't try to help someone out by PMing them to tell them to delete their post in a spam thread before a mod sees it. Man he got pissed off for me just trying to keep him from being banned. Some people are just too full of themselves to care. -James Dillaman
  21. Harry Traver's Jazz Railway came out in 1925. People thought he was crazy for building a coaster out of steel. http://www.rcdb.com/id2010.htm I'm not a huge coaster history person either, but I think the Matterhorn is kinda credited with starting the modern steel coaster craze, just like some people credit the Racer for kicking off the woodie renaissance. If that was a steel coaster, then rcdb is wrong, because it says wood under type. -James Dillaman
  22. How about that one tobaggan ride where they close the car on top of you? I haven't been on it, but it looks like it could be extremely claustrophobic. -James Dillaman
  23. See? Everyone's overreacting. The coaster, ferris wheel, and waterpark are staying. This is understandable, as the zoo doesn't want to (mis)run the park the same way six flags did. Bravo Columbus zoo for also taking the necessary steps to do an expansion. Their zoo needs some more exhibits. -James Dillaman
  24. Isn't the answer only 1? I thought Matterhorn was like one of the first steel coasters. Somebody help me (I'm not as much of a coaster history enthusiast, just enjoy riding.) -James Dillaman
