  1. I just hope we don't find seatbelts on Tig'rr...
  2. Wow, Congrats, Tomi. You're becoming quite the celebrity in the theme park community, aren't you? -James Dillaman
  3. ^ Yeah I went on Beast with an ex who didn't have one on, and she didn't ride anything the rest of the day. I wouldn't be opposed to most victoria secret models on a coaster, though. That would also boost Victoria Secret revenue, and they could have the park open for the public. I think that would be an awesome PR event. -James Dillaman
  4. ^I'm taking econmics as a business major. But it's your opinion that Police and Fire and more of a need than welfare. That's all we're saying. If you want to view providing general needs for children who have no fault but to have been born under poverty as socialism, fair enough, but we're just saying this isn't just Vallejo. It isn't the first city to go bankrupt, it won't be the last. Here's a qoute from the AP about Vallejo: Read the entire thing before jumping to conclusions: "We know that individuals and corporations can declare bankruptcy, but entire cities? That is exactly what officials in Vallejo, Calif., are contemplating. And they are not alone. There's a long and sad history of municipalities declaring bankruptcy. Here's a look at how these places got into hot water—and what life is like for residents of a bankrupt town. Why do cities and towns declare bankruptcy? For the same reason that individuals and corporations do. They're broke and can't pay their debts. This might be because of an unexpected expense—say, a costly lawsuit—or a sudden shortfall in revenue, due to falling property values, for instance. Either way, declaring bankruptcy protects cities and towns from their creditors, just as it does for individuals and corporations. (In Vallejo's case, bankruptcy offers another benefit: It would allow the city to renegotiate costly labor contracts with public-safety employees, which reportedly account for about 80 percent of the city's general fund budget.)"
  5. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the wording of the record should be Most people DRESSED as pirates, because to be official, wouldn't they all have to be practicing swashbucklers? ^ In response to that, I think the next record broken should be most naked supermodels on a coaster, and if Guiness wants, I'll personally document the evidence. -James Dillaman
  6. Don't count out helpful enthusiasts on this site. I used to work for an airline, which is the only way I could attend the SFMM Tatsu campout, my only TPR event, which was an absolute BLAST! I spent almost no money on transportation, with TPR members helping me out by picking me up at LAX, driving me to their home and even offering to feed me there, and taking me to the park. I then tagged along with some other nice TPRer's on a ride back to the airport in a taxi they were taking anyway. I know I'd be willing to pick up someone and take them to my home park and show them around. That is, if anyone wanted to go to King's Island. Good luck with your non-revving. I had a lot of fun during my tenure with the airlines. -James Dillaman
  7. I don't go crazy for JR. The burgers are very greasy, and I've had much better, also there is always a long wait. They have the stupid nickle jukeboxes that never seem to work, and I have never had good service at any JR, in a themepark or stand alone. I'd rather they put an In and Out burger. At least it would be fast. -James Dillaman
  8. ^ Joe, i just like the part when he infers that Cincinnati has no large sources of taxable incomes. I bet more people each year visit the Cincinnati Zoo than visit SFDK. -James Dillaman
  9. My only concern is SFMM has some large crowds on the weekends in the summer months. How is the show experience going to differ when there are no empty seats in the audience? Every mystery-dinner I've been to that has been interesting has never involved more than a dozen or so people. Hopefully it won't be like watching Blues Clues (Random kids shouting "A Clue, A Clue!!!) -James Dillaman
  10. My view is you should obey all park rules, even if attending a Cedar Fair park, where they may seem silly (i.e. walking through the line again if there's nobody in line). You are on private property and they have the right to tell you to do whatever they want. Also laws give the mandate to adhere to all posted warnings/instructions as well as obey all direction from ride operators. If you want to hold up your hands, just wait until it launches, like i do. You'll be fine, and you won't look like a jack-a$$ who puts his arms up as soon as he leaves the station. We sat in the launch area once for almost 3 minutes because a dad and his young teen wouldn't put their arms down, as he was daring his son to keep them up the ENTIRE ride. -James Dillaman
  11. Either ME at New York, New York or the Cyclone at Coney. It all depends on if you mean "to-date" or "per-year". Those are my guesses. -James "Sadly paid $14 to ride ME" Dillaman
  12. ^ Actually from what I understand of physics (granted it isn't much, so correct me if I'm wrong), a wooden structure would allow more flexibility than steel, and therefore handle the lateral forces of an earthquake more effectively than a steel structure would. It's when things don't flex that they break. The forces have to be released somewhere.
  13. ^ Many cities around the country are in the same situation. Every municipality it seems in the Cincinnati area has levies on the ballot this March to raise taxes supporting police, fire, the zoo, local schools, etc. It's not an isolated problem. -James Dillaman
  14. Yeah, It's not that I truly "hate" King's Island, it's just that nothing there really stands out as a good ride. They just have a lot of "meh" coasters and a few decent flats. -James Dillaman
  15. FunSpot in Indiana. Beech Bend has gotten better, it still feels like a fair, but no where near South of the Border or Fun Spot. -James Dillaman
  16. ^ Just because you fully supervise someone breaking a leg doesn't make it any better... I assume some liability waiver would have to be signed by a parent or legal guardian if under the age of 18. -James Dillaman
  17. This is just something that I've wondered, and probably shouldn't be asked because it has nothing to do with the business side of thing, but is there any ride in the Six Flags chain that Mark doesn't ride because it's too thrilling, or what is his favorite roller coaster that he's been on?
  18. As Johnnyupsidedown pointed out, the only thing making me leery about this is what happened when the RV company bought out LeSourdsville. We all know how THAT turned out. Hopefully this company will actually know what it's doing with an amusement park. Let the current management stay, as they've been doing a great job. -James Dillaman
  19. It WAS sold: http://www.screamscape.com/html/indiana_beach.htm Huh, that was interesting. Hope it doesn't go the way of Americana/Lesourdsville when the RV copany purchased it. -James Dillaman
  20. Krypton Coaster is worth the trip to SFFT by itself, IMO. -James Dillaman
  21. Even if it does, Beast is a wooden coaster, so still wouldn't affect their claim. And if I recall correctly Beast is built on 25 acres. -James Dillaman
  22. Sorry, I was trying to bait someone into posting a picture. guess I'll just drive the four hours and take one myself. Saying it's near the log flume doesn't really nail down its location. Will some of it be above the water, or completely in the circle of Cornball? I was just wondering how the view of the park from the payed parking lot will change. -James Dillaman
  23. Where exactly is this going in? Anyone know? The blog said they were finishing clearing the site, so construction should start soon. -James Dillaman
  24. ^ Yeah but this is Disney. It has magic. -James Dillaman
  25. I put an ableton live sticker over the apple in my powerbook that I take on gigs, for the primary reason of lessening the amount of light put out by said apple. Does that count as customization? I can put up pics if you want to see. -James Dillaman
