Inverted B&m coaster question
Axman replied to jpdupuis's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Raptor has a strait drop after the guck turn and, and Great Bear's drop after the helix. In order to create a good, twisted layout, a twisted drop is quite useful. I have a feeling that a strait drop is just unnecessary. -
Wow! Dubai is better at Americanizing than America is!

I had a really fantastic time at the Boardwalk. It truly is a magnificent amusement park, and is gome to some of the fastest ride operations in my history of parkgoeing. The food, rides and atmosphere really create a fantstic expreince. Thanks to all of those who put of with my endless pictures and blury shots. -

More Pictures! Good night Boardwalk. It's been real. Damnit! *Another* false alarm. Cliffhanger, on the other hand, hasn't quite fineshed cliffhanging yet. The Brain-Popper is done popping brains this evening. This remids me of Elissa. Wait--flase alarm again. This one's not blury! It's a sign of the Apocalypse! FOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Evening Tide-Ripping. Me and Veronica in front of "1970: THE RIDE." Just one more. I know what you're thinking. "My GOD! This guy just won't stop with the blury pictures! The lights look kinda cool, now that I'm used to it. Blury log, on a blury log flume, in a blury amusement park. Wonderful. Even through the blurryness, any Dragon Wagon can feel the pain of not having track lights. Oh, false alarm. Sorry! OH MY GOD! THE BOARDWALK'S ON FIRE! "Awwwwwwwwwww!" I don't know about you, but these pictures are starting to make me neaseus. Aside from the blurryness, these pictures can give you a good idea of how compact this park is. The park is magnificent from the Ferris Wheel, just not from my camera. Yes. Could there be any more happening here? All of these aireals are obviously taken from the Ferris Wheel, but the motion makes it even more difficult to take nightime pictures. This is the Santa Cruz Warf, by the way. Hopefully, by the time my next TR rolls around, I will have invested in a camera that takes better night pictures. The façade says it all. Yeah, this thing just SCREAMS 1970. "Boardwalk in Motion" Coming soon to a theater near YOU! You can tell this was manufactured in the 70's. Erin and Veronica in line for the Ferris Wheel. Evening Egg-O-Plane. "Egg-O-Plane" as a phrase is property of AxCo., and is in no way aphiliated with "Eggo" brand waffles. Coaster string lights have died out in the last few decades, but Giant Dipper still has its. In fact, I bet this whole place was popular back in 1967. Psychadelic! I bet this ride was popular in 1967! "This is you're camera's brain on drugs..." Evening Dipper. The Sea Surpent is hidding behing the rock wall from the cops, because he is soley resposable for the deaths of over 4 dozen Dragon Wagons! So happy to have you back, RoundUp. Short sheets amke the bed look longer." In case you haven't noticed, Edward Gorey is my favorite author, and I spontaneously quote sayings from his books when I can't think of a good caption. What worse than wipeing out? Wipeing out, and then getting eaten by a shark! This looks more like a Gilroy garlic bulb wrapped in a torn bed sheet than a ghost. "Hey, lets all go ride Gilroy Garlic Bulb Wrapped In A Torn Bed Sheet Blasters!" The CTD is relentlessley apprehensive. "The cats are nervous when it's raining." -Edward Gorey A WATERFALL! I think any kiddie coaster would kill itself when compared to Sea Surpent! A memorial service will be held for the Dragon Wagon at noon, tomorrow. Why's the Crazy surf so crazy? It blew all it's money on instant lottery tickets. "There's no going to town in a bathtub." -Edward Gorey Belive it or not, The Boardwalk has a Tornado, Cyclone, Tsunami, Typhoon, and Hurricane happening all at once! -

More Pictures! Veronica: "I don't like the way this restraint is touching me..." Alex: "I'm a dork!" Time for some Crazy Surfing! Milleneum Flyers WISH they could be this good! As I was walking Jessica to the Boardwalk Bowl, I saw THIS! If you bring Speed Bumps some Indigenous Boardwalk Mushrooms, he'll let you go for a ride! I get a kick out of seeing the Dipper's old yellow train. It's totaly 80's 'Sup, Gorgeous. ... and Ron can't stop laughing about it! Dad is less than amused... Quick! Pretend to show happyness! Mike's horse is doing its "Gene Simmons" impression. Erin on her horse and I'm a dork. Everyone's waiting to ride some horsies. Horsies! Here's the supermassive organ that was saved from the San Fransisco Playland. The potential for Dipper-y goodness is iminnent. I sense Dipper in my imediet future. Outside the Queue window, things are partaking in stuff. Erin, John, and Mary Ann are partaking in "queue time merryment". *"Queue Time Merryment" is in strict possesion of AxCo. and we must ask that all people refrain from using this term with out the consent of AxCo. Dad and Ron are reminicing about their childhood nd Mike is staring off into space, while Jessica never forgets to look beautiful & smile for the camera. -

More pictures! Actualy, the Dipper was around durring The Depression. I'd rather ride it than break plates. What did plates ever do to you? Who doesn't love to break things? This is probably what people did for fun durring The Depression. Gilroy Gardens sublimonal messaging. It's the SCBB Fantastic Four! *The "SCBB Fantastic Four" is a registered trademark of AxCo. and can not be used without consent of its parent comany. Does Knobles know about this?!?! If the Ferris Wheel and the Rock-O-Plane conceved a child, they'd probably give birth to one of the hubbless wheels you see in Japan. *laughes out loud* We're dorks. She focused just in time to capture our feet. My mom continues to prove that she is somewhat "photographicaly challenged". Phototyme! Everyone, from left, to right: Small Child #1: "Eee!" Small Child #2: "Oh dear!" Small Child #3: "Eeiirrgh!!" Soccer Mom #1: "Oh, shut up!" "Short sheets make bed look longer." -Edward Gorey. I'm sure you've fugred out by now that E.G. is my favorite author. Cave Train Dino is paraniod. Because of this, all Dragon Wagons are either in a coma, or seeking/recieving psychiatric help. These people are about to recieve "an acceptable amount of wetness". Ron joins the group! Also, the Boardwalk capitolizes on the selling of nuts... "The Cats are nervous when it's raining." -Edward Gorey The Cliff Hanger is relentlessly cliffhanging. The only reason why this ride isn't called "Brain-Popper", is because the name wouldn't fit on this sign. "There's no going to town in a bathtub." -Edward Gorey (1925-2000) Even the Sky Glider's station provides a great vantage point. & John and Mary Ann! Jessica, Mom and Dad, Time to introduce some people! Erin and Mike, California flag has a picture of a bear on it, for no apparent reason. It's as though they're trying to premote a certin suck-ass woodie near by... The Brain Popper just won't quit, will it? The Dipper really is built mostly on a bunch of rooftops. maybe that's why its so sturdy? ATTENTION THEME PARK GRAPIC DESIGNERS! If you are looking for a compitnet pphotographer who loves rollercoasters, I am avaliable for hire!(please!) Giant Dipper and the Santa Cruz mountains. For some reason, the Dipper didn't fall over durring the quake of '89, even though it doesn't have any extra support. The Dipper may be giant, but its definetly squished into its footprint. There's that sign again! Despite the frusturation it feels because of Castle trespassers, the Castle Spider can not attack, because he is paralized from the thorax down. ...but nothing can draw your eyes away from the Giant Dipper. The log flume trys to get attention... Dipper Palms. Haunted Castle was one of the rides we missed. Montery Bay Gulls....hehe Bagels. This is Fortuna, Egbert's wife. -

Thank You! I'm flattered to hear that! I try my best to make it informative and entertaining. Me and Jessica made up names for the Cavemen on the Sky Glider, while we were waiting in line. The husband is Egbert, and the wife is Fortuna. (Granted that they are married: We had assumed so.) -

Day 2: Endless Rides & Friends Pulled a just-over-10-hour day at the Boardwalk today, riding every I possibly could! Lots of friends came and went throughout the day. Enjoy The flat top of the Carousel is slighty less gleamy. Hurricane must have JUST gotten re-painted, because I have never seen it this gleaming durring the 4 years I lived in Santa Cruz. The Montery Bay. Notice how few people there are on the beach, compared to the Boardwalk, regardless of the beautiful 75 dagree weather. This is how crowded the park was at the peak of busyness. Despite this emense sea of people, the park operations were smooth and highly saught-after. EXTREME FEET! ...and Bi-Polar Spongebob. Our Chariot awaits.... From here, you can see the sagging of the cable due to the weight of us fat Californians! About 45 seconds after Red train came through, Blue train is about to crest the lift. Due to the direct exposure, the rides in the "Hurricane Side" of the park are the most outlandishly giddy. So THIS is where the Boardwalk's super-happiness is coming from! It must be radiating from these anatomicly-incorrect sea creatres, and spreading throughout the Boardwalk like a deadly virus! Naturally, so did Starfish. And of course, the Speedway had a max waiting time of -1 minute(s). The Hurricane was cresting the lift hill about every 45 seconds with its two train operation. The Boardwalk ops are unstoppable! The double shot was doing its thing about every 3 minutes. Go SCBB ride ops!! Again!!! It really is a cool thing to see against the blue sky when you look up. The Sky Glider may be old, but it still Rocks A$$! I provides million-dollar photo opportunities that are a force to be reconed with! These people are almost as happy as the Boardwalk! And they survived! The "Tribute to Z-Force" Drop. The Hurricane is just a super-happy pile of excitment and wonder today! Redundant photo curtesy of my mother. CAUTION: DO NOT WALK ON THESE BOARDS. Except for the Carousel, who has somehow managed to sustain its composure. Everything is just bright, happy bundles of endless fun and joy today!!!!! This sign shot came out better than the last one... Commencing Brain-Popping Sequence. Good Mornig Brain-Popper! Take THAT Magic Mountain! @$#% YOU!!! As is the Ferris Wheel, who happens to be sporting some lovely, newly-painted cars, to mach Rock-O-Plane's Cliff Hanger is happy to see us! Good Morning Egg-O-Plane! The Dipper dipping a dip. The Dipper was presistently running two trains today, and the lines were between 5-10 mins. Go SCBB ride ops!!! Blue Train has come out to greet us this morning. Sexy Curves!!! Good Morning Dipper! -

More pictures! Who doesn't like a good typhoon? More pictures tommorrow! The Boarwalk actually used to have a Dragon Wagon, but they upgraded. The old Dragon coaster commited suicide. Double Shot Training. Because "Cave Train 2" sounds too much like a movie, "Cave Train Adventure" will have to do. A Dragon Wagon's wet dream: A waterfall AND an an ride camera. Despite its tight location, the Boardwalk has always packed in rides to the brim. Why is it "Crazy"? Who knows. Who cares? No one. Get over it--wait, I've already used this before on an other TR. What a Dragon Wagon WISHES it could be. The Cave Train Dino is blussfully unaware of the exitement and color behind him... Rock-O-Plane gets me vote for the "Best ride that doesn't exist in enough places" award. Seriously, the world could use more of these. Life over the "Cave Train Adventure" is so colorful! The Logger's Revenge station has grown more realistic with age. It's developed a dark, sea-kissed, wood tone. They should really re-paint this ride a more flatering color, like "aquamarine". Rock-O-Plane is sporting some shiny new car bottoms! Riptide: Because Tilt-A-Whirl is just too cliche. Here's the rest of the Casino. We hope you've enjoyed: A TRIP THROUGH TIME Here's part of the Casino, with the Ferris Wheel in its former location, as well as the defunct Trabant. If I could have any of the Boardwalk rides back, Trabant would be my hands-down choice. Here's the Carousel and Sky Ride with the defunct Jet Star. Belive it or not, this area hasn't changed much at all! The Giant Dipper and Sky Ride with the defunct Auto Scooters. Here's the Giant dipper with the defunct Round-Up and Paratrooper. Here's the defunct Wild Mouse and Scrambler, as well as Riptide with its old name. And Now: A TRIP THROUGH TIME Here's the Rock-O-Plane in it's old location, and the defunct Autorama, Arctic Flyer, Mini-Carousel, and Cave Train. WOK ON!!! This photo was in no way endorsed by Corona or M&Ms. Sidedip. RIP OFF! This picture's the same as the last one! There's only over 249 pics on this report! This is the Giant Dipper. It's Giant. And it Dips. Hence, the name. Contrary to common belif, you don't actually glide on balloons. "I wanna be a REAL fireball some day!" Flase alarm: It was only Fireball. L@@K!!! Its a giant ball of fire! I knew this was comming... This is what the Boardwalk has such good food. Each item must be put through a rigorous Giant Dipper test! Spider: "AY! GET OFF MY PROPERTY! DON"T MAKE ME LAY EGGS IN YOUR STOMACHE!" Can you handle the Fascination? I want this for my kitchen backsplash. Floating Pastels! Hand-carved with love. The back side of Hurricane! -
Just over a week ago, I went to the SCBB during my trip to California. It was one of the last days of the trip, and I had been looking forward to this day for just under half a year. True to form, the Boardwalk did not disappoint! We went to the Boardwalk on my parent's 23 wedding anniversary, because its where they first met. They were ride operators during the summer of 1980; On a regular basis, My dad operated the Spider, and my mom operated the Scrambler. They met while operating "The Autorama", and it was love at first sight! 4 years later, they got married, 2 years after that, the had my sister, and 5 years after that, they had *me*! Seeing as it was the Boardwalk's 100the birthday, it seemed perfect to come back for a double anniversary! Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk was my first home park, and will eternally be one of my favorites. There is so much to the Boardwalk, and I pleased to present the largest SCBB TR in history! I hope you enjoy the sheer depth of my report! Rides I conquered, from one end, to the other: Capt. Jack Flint's Pirate Ship Double Shot Speed Bumps Hurricane Sky Glider Loof Carousel Giant Dipper x 4 Fireball Typhoon Logger's Revenge Riptide Cliffhanger Ghost Blaster Wipeout Freefall Rock-O-Plane Cave Train Tornado Cyclone Crazy Surf Ferris Wheel Tsunami Because of the great size of this report, I'll pe posting in chunks. Day One: A Walk on the Warf and Down the Boardwalk This, for some reason, seemed necisarry. Here's the famed "1911 Loof Carousel" in all it's glory. This is where my parents went on their first date, durring a break on each of their shifts. Double Shot is an avid patriot. The Mighty Hurricane! This is Egbert. he's been riding the Sky Glider for about 40 years now, but still seems relentlessly content. You'll meet his wife later in the report. Speed Bumps lives in a dark cave underneath Hurricane. Its nearly totally blind, sleeps durring the day, and only comes out at night to feed on indigenous Boardwalk Mushrooms. Not only does the Double Shot provide quite a rip, but it's my first S&S tower that actually goes ALL THE WAY up, and ALL THE WAY back down, twice! This is what happens to pedestrians who jump lines at the Boardwalk. Eye! this scurvy tower went 'n and messed up me vantage point! Arrgh! Yay! We've made it to the Boardwalk! The Giant Dipper train says "Hi!". By the way, my "Boardwalk Sectioning System", or "BSS" is a trademarked system that is owned and copywrited by AxCo. Industries. To the right of the Boardwalk we see...MILLON DOLLAR REALESTATE! Here's the rest of the Giant Dipper section, which is eveything left of Loggers Revenge, and reaches all the way to the Carousel. I'm sure you've figured out by now that this report will be quite image heavy... Here's the "Logger's Revenge" side of the Boardwalk and part of the Giant Dipper" section. The Logger's Revenge side engulfs everything left of the Giant Dipper. It was origonaly a large swimming hole, but was then remodled. Here's the Hurricane with the "Casino". Though not a true casino, it does boast of one of the largest arcades in California! This is the "Hurricane" side of the Boardwalk, and is curriently sporting its new addition, "Double Shot". The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, from The Santa Cruz Warf.

Since the downfall of Togo, I dought that SkyRider will last long. There will be no way to get spare parts. However, King Kobra could come in handy for that reason, but at that point, why bother? Its a TOGO! -

Totaly impressesd beyond belief. CW really deserves this coaster, after years of half-assed clones. The trains are brilliant. Evey seat will feel so open and unobstructed! CHOP CHOP SHAPIRO! Kentucky Kingdom needs one of these! You know what amazes me? CW has built 15 rollercoasters, and they currently have 15 rollercoasters. SFGAd has built 24 rollercoasters, and they currently have 13. If only more parks could do what CW has been doing. On the other hand, CW has more open space on their property than most any amusement park, and half of their coasters are sub par to begin with. Besides, now that the park has a flagship ride, I can invision CF dropping some of the lest-than-desireable rides from the park, like Tomb Raider or Top Gun. Also, Dragon Fyre and and SkyRider's days are numbered as it is. They wont be 15 and 15 for long. -

Scale Coaster trains! Griffon and Alpengeist
Axman replied to CD_Staff's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Do these trains work with "Dragon" and "Scorpion" coasters? -
My more ways in one, I mean: 1. Build a LIM waterslide 2. Remove an id le attraction, and replace it with a waterlide. I'm appalled if anyone actually thought I wanted Superman (or any ride at MM) to partake in a life-threatening accident.
-
I do hope they pull a SFKK (in more ways than one), and built a water ride for Hurrican Harbour. Not only does KK have deluge, but they demoleshed a hideous paper-weight (Quake) inside the park, and expanded the water park with a new flagship slide. This is exactly what MM should do.
-
I've noticed that people on this site (including myself) have already gotten used to the idea that SFMM's Flashback is gone. I've heard rumors that the ride's electronics and mechanics have been gutted, and that the ride is, perhaps, waiting for a demo approval. Is this true? Flashback has been in constant SBNO status since around 2004, but was never actually a true "past rollercoaster". However, knowing that the park's site has taken it from the list of attractions, leaves us all to belive that the ride is defenetly finished. Bottom Line: Is Flahsback truly a past rollercoaster?
