For the first week of February, I would say just get an annual pass to Universal and spend the whole week there It pays for itself in like 3 visits. VelociCoaster is worth the price of admission alone. Also, I'm typing this at about 1:15 on a Tuesday afternoon and the current waits are 35 for VC (usually overstated) and 50 for Hagrid's (less than an hour is pretty good). Single rider lines make a lot of the other good rides virtually walk-ons. Plus you could come back sometime later when Ice Breaker and Iron Gwazi are open and use your pass some more. Okay, I'm kind of kidding, the other parks in the area are worth visiting too, but Universal's worth at least one day for sure.

Just rode it about an hour ago and liked it a lot. I'd say it was more forceful than Zumanjaro, I haven't ridden Lex Luthor so can't speak to that. The outward tilt a la Falcon's Fury is a nice touch, and it was fun to try and find the area's other parks up at the top. I went with the $20 ticket for the drop tower and Star Flyer and feel like it was a pretty decent value.

I'm guessing the changes to the second half are entirely for structural purposes; the actual ride layout won't be changed. -

It’s back to one train today. Started with 2 but they had to take one off after a few hours Edit: False alarm, they’re putting the second train back on. -

It’s been raining here all afternoon, but pretty much everything is still open. Only coaster that hasn’t operated today is Gemini. -
I spent the summer of 2006 visiting Geauga Lake almost every day with a buddy of mine. We were both 13 at the time. He had his own cell phone and occasionally one of my parents would let me borrow theirs. Although there was never really any safety issue since there was never anybody there to begin with

I was at Stricker's Grove this past Labor Day, and that ejector moment on Tornado was pretty legit. Maybe not quite on the level of something like the double down on Jack Rabbit or the second drop on Camden Park's Big Dipper, but still strong enough to catch me off guard. Teddy Bear is worth a ride as well, and the free soft drinks and cheap food definitely make it worth stopping by for an hour or two IMO. -
The ride ops on Twisted Colossus actually were able to make it duel occasionally during midweek, due to very light crowds which allowed for quicker dispatches. It's a top tier RMC regardless, but the racing aspect just makes it even better. Agree that Tatsu is a fantastic flyer and that their Batman runs great (hot take: the Batman clones are actually my favorite B&M inverts). Is there a "correct" way to ride X2? I can certainly admire its uniqueness, but it seems like something that has to be ridden so defensively to avoid banging your head and legs...

Maybe years from now this will be one of those interesting case studies among enthusiasts...similar to the closure of Geauga Lake or how Son of Beast was a colossal flop. -

Because it was used at Kings Island, and anything done at KI/CP/Dollywood/Disney/Universal, etc. pretty much instantly becomes favorite to win these types of awards by default... Couldn't agree more about Candymonium at #5...I wonder if that ride is about to become a bit of a meme over the next few days/weeks, kind of like all the "Millennium Forceless" stuff -

To be fair, people probably would care about it somewhere else, like Muskegon, MI, perhaps? It's just a bit of a fish out of water at CP. -

Teddy Bear at Stricker's Grove Glad I had the chance to visit on one of the few days the park is open to the public. Also met a fellow enthusiast to get the credits with, which is always a bonus. -
How do you visit a new park?
dankeykang replied to Ozano305's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Welcome! I'm still fairly new here myself, but I've found these boards to be a great source of information before visiting a new park. It looks like you may be based in Germany; unfortunately I haven't been to any parks in Europe, but I think the experiences I've had in America should be pretty applicable to Europe as well. When looking for new parks, I use sites like coast2coaster or RCDB to help find new locations. Before visiting a new park for the first time, personally I like to inform myself of the attractions and read some past trip reports from other users. There's a thread for pretty much every park on this forum, check out the index here I always like getting to the park early (30-45 minutes before opening), you can knock out a lot of rides fairly quickly during the first few hours of the day before crowds pick up. The first attraction I'll ride at any new park really depends on what's there. If there's a world-class attraction, I'll usually cave and go ride that first in case it breaks down or closes unexpectedly. If there are no standout coasters, usually I'll hit rides with lower capacity first (like a Gerstlauer spinner or a wild mouse) as lines for these rides can get pretty slow later in the day. Yes, I would absolutely encourage rerides on your favorite attractions. Definitely try out different rows/seats, certain coasters can offer very different experiences in the front vs. in the back. Hope that helps- 16 replies

Yikes, still relatively recent but this sounds bad. Hoping for the best. As if Cedar Point's relationship with Intamin wasn't already sour enough after Shoot the Rapids... Edit: The park has confirmed that it was a part from the ride itself which struck the guest: https://sanduskyregister.com/news/337270/roller-coaster-part-falls-hits-guest/ -

Cedar Point has announced that Wicked Twister will be closing permanently on September 6th, 2021 (Labor Day). https://www.cedarpoint.com/blog/one-last-launch “With ‘twists’ on both towers – instead of just one – Wicked Twister will be the first and only coaster of its kind anywhere in the world.” On November 20, 2001, Cedar Point announced to the world that it would build the planet's tallest and fastest double-twisting impulse roller coaster. For just about 20 years, it kept that title. At the time, there was a boom in the introduction of these types of coasters, but most with only one twisting spike at one end, and a straight, 90-degree vertical track section at the other (many with a brake that held the train for a quick second for an added thrill). Wicked Twister would dramatically change the famous CP skyline with its twin, 215-foot-tall bright yellow spiraling vertical spikes – a structure that’s as daunting as it is a work of art. Today, the coaster’s history has been written. It will close for good on Monday, September 6, 2021 as we prepare for future park improvements. Since it opened on May 5, 2002, Wicked Twister has given more than 16 million rides. For the next 31 days, we hope you have a chance to be a part of that ridership history and take one last launch on the world’s first record-breaking, double-impulse, five-time-LIM motor-launching, screeching teal and sunburst yellow steel behemoth. There are more fun details to share about Wicked Twister’s last day – we’ll reveal those later. In the meantime, just for fun, take a read of the original press release below. -

^According to Wiki, it was actually a closure of nearly three years...although that incident did have two injuries. But yeah, if Intamin is one end of the reliability spectrum and B&M is the other, it's pretty clear which side RMC is trending towards. Although to be fair, Lightning Rod's uptime seems to be drastically improved this year. -

Similar story at Kings Dominion, their only operating coaster will be the Dominator.
