  1. 76/100. Pretty coaster geeky, but not to "tool level"
  2. Ride operators do not control trim brakes. Computers programmed by engineers and mechanics control trim brakes. You can't just flip a switch to turn off trims--it's much more complex than that. While this is true for the brakes that were part of the initial ride. Many of the "after-market" trim brakes such as on Mean Streak's drop, Mantis' drop, and Magnum's turnaround, are pretty much just "flip a switch". But still, thats' a maintenance task, and not something the operators can do.
  3. I don't know, as of Haunt, Ghostrider was running amazing. Of course it got some TLC. If anything it was better than the last two years.
  4. I love Disaster Transport, it may be slow, but it's a neat ride. Though I only ride it if the wait is like 10 min or less.
  5. Tangerine Rd. outside of Tucson between the I-10 and Oro Valley. Amazing hills.......they get your stomach even at 40
  6. Yo, I may be up for going, but I have to see what's going on that weekend. I'm off of work that Friday, but will be busy Saturday for sure. Not sure about Sunday. It's the last weekend that my AP is good, so I should make use of it.
  7. Dania Beach Hurricane is sooooo good. It made my top 5.
  8. Such cute pictures. I love taking first timers to the park, and it's even better when they're little kids. So much fun watching their excitement. Glad it was a good trip for you
  9. ^It was probably running the best I had ever ridden it. It was running crazy fast, and much smoother than it had before. I forgot that this coaster actually has some insane airtime in the back until Haunt.
  10. Going to have to agree with methos on this one. Wild Mouse at BPB was a WOW coaster for me. I didn't expect that much, and ended up riding it 9 times before I left the park that day. Grand National only got 4 rides.
  11. The only real changes for me is El Toro and Dania Beach Hurricane. The rest of the coasters didn't wow me at all (SFNE's Cyclone and Thunderbolt). Ghostrider hasn't moved down for me at all. It was running fantastic during Haunt. But I do remember quite a rough ride earlier in the year, but not so bad that it took away from the ride experience. I love that ride. El Toro might actually take top honors, I haven't made up my mind yet. It's either that or Tonnere de Zeus. Although I like my wooden coasters rough, and thus I feel like El Toro is cheating by being on the wood ballot
  12. Coaster count: 206 # of new coasters this year: 15 # of new 2006 coaster ridden: 2 Park visits: No Idea Different parks visited: 10 New to me parks: 4 Park visited most often: Disneyland Wood coaster ridden the most: Dania Beach Hurricane Steel coaster ridden the most: Space Mountain Best "New to me" coaster: El Toro hands down. Amazing ride, even if it doesn't feel like wood. I loved every minute of it. Dania Beach Hurricane was a close second with it's crazy airtime. S:ROS is up there too. Biggest new-coaster bust: Kingda Ka - Tree Top Racers, I figured it would be slightly more fun. Awesome experiences: -Power riding DB Hurricane in the middle of January by myself -Getting into Adventure City for free after pleading w/ the cashier not to make us pay full price -Riding Scandia Screamer for the first time in the rain before they shut it down and wondering if the brakes were actually going to work -Meeting a bunch of great online people in person finally at PPP. -Getting my niece and nephew's impressions of SFMM Not-so-awesome experiences: -3 hour line for El Toro, 2 hour line for Kingda Ka -Slow ops at SFMM -Overall fatigue level on my PPP trip
  13. 15-20 minutes here. I just shoot down Lincoln til it hits Sepulveda, and then make a left on Imperial after I go underneath the LAX runway. I live like 5 minutes from Robb's work. I pass it anytime I don't want to take the 10 towards Culver City, or if I want to eat at a chain restauraunt. I <3 Venice Beach
  14. Trunk Monkey 1 Trunk Monkey 2 Trunk Monkey 3 Trunk Monkey 4 Trunk Monkey 5 Trunk Monkey 6
  15. Intamin = Le Cobre at La Ronde (I actually liked Flashback). It was painful, though I still thought it was a decent ride. B&M = Umm....Vortex at Paramount's Great America, though it was still a decent ride. GCI = Wildcat at Hersheypark. Again I thought it was a good ride, just the most lackluster of the the ones I've been on. I don't get the hype on this coaster at all.
  16. The lines were really bad on Friday night too. We got to do all the haunted mazes, but only rode 1 coaster (Ghostrider) because the lines were so long. We still had a lot of fun though. We did the Grudge maze and you didn't miss much. Asylum, 13 Axe Murder Manor, and Red Beard's Revenge were much better, and were everyone's favorites. Next year I'm going to make sure to go early in October to avoid all those lines.
  17. Were they running Dragster with only the front loaded because of rollbacks?
  18. Wow, massive and awesome trip report. Loved seeing the pics at Key West. I've been meaning to take a visit there while visiting my sister in South Florida, maybe xmas time this year. All these updates of Orlando make me wish I had some free time to get there right now
  19. Wow, I didn't even know anything about this park. It's gorgeous! Great landscaping and theming througout. I especially love those swings. THanks for the TR!
  20. Best: Goliath at Walibi..... awesome bunny hops into a fast 180 into the breaks. AWESOME Worst: Adventure Express I guess. ALthough the part right before the lift hill is still really good.
  21. The AZ State Fair consistently has great free concerts. This year has Foo Fighters Brooks & Dunn Alan Jackson Jeff Foxworthy Pet Shop Boys Last year had a number of country artists, as well as Beck, ZZ Top, and Rob Thomas. I miss it if only for the free concerts.
  22. ^Yes, but they are probably going to still pay out dividends. Carrying a debt load isn't the same as being in the black. It means Cedar Fair is making more money than their interest/loan payments.
  23. I've never had them come out, but I could feel them slipping back on my eyeballs a bit in the front of Kingda Ka. They stayed in fine though, and when I was able to blink at the top, they righted themselves.
  24. Hmmm.......that's a tough one. Probably El Toro. But I only got one ride on it, so it's tough to say for sure. I got two rides on Superman, and my first reaction to a ride is always more intense than after a few rides. But I was blown away by El Toro's insane "air" (you're stapled, so it's not really airtime). If the end of the coaster had just a little more pop to it, it wouldn't even be a question.
  25. ^It's true. Nothing about it felt like a wood coaster.
