  1. CONGRATS dude. Glad to see he's doing well.
  2. I vote for that really annoying family that rode Raptor on the "Cedar Point: World's Largest Amusement Park" special.
  3. Hmmm.....back when I worked at a park, it was an automatic final warning if we were even caught with our cell phone on the platform with us, yet alone actually using it. Mine stayed in my backpack all day so I could check messages on breaks. Amazing how that works.
  4. White Trash Meatballs..... The combination of ingredients sounds weird, but together it's amazing. 1 package frozen meatballs 1 squeeze bottle of grape jelly 1 bottle of chili sauce (next to the ketchup in the store) Lemon juice to taste (about 1/2 to 2/3 of one of those plastic lemons)
  5. Weekdays through early June. Sundays during the rest of the year. Oh, and Memorial Day itself (not the Sat or Sunday before it though) was almost always very light.
  6. EL TORO! Amazing, OMGWTFBBQ air. Other great contenders......... Goliath - Netherlands S:ROS - NE Blue Streak at CP (though it was better with the old lap bars) Magnum
  7. I can understand wanting to attach the Knott's moniker since it is a recognized "brand" on the West Coast. But did they not listen to how it sounded? Seriously bad judgement call there.
  8. Wait, I'm confused? Are these the same as Villain's trains? or like the pictures posted above (articulated or not basically?) I never had an issue with the G-trains, not sure why. But I thought they were fine on Villain.
  9. Actually, none of it was where Mantis is. The whole thing sat in what is now Power Tower's footprint and queue. It ran alongside corkscrew's entire brake run.
  10. Hmmm........seems that Phishy came and worked on the same crew as me, but before/after I had left for the season, since I don't remember him. I worked at Cedar Point 2000-2001 2000 White Water Landing (May only) 2000 Raptor (June-August) 2001 Raptor (all sumer) Oh, and I also went over and worked at Chaos/Troika/Super Himalaya for a week in 2000 because they were short staffed and we were over staffed at WWL. I switched crews because of the lack of hours and how boring it was. And I did various days on the Antique Cars and Snake River Falls. In 01, I covered a few shifts at Sky Ride, Blue Streak, Power Tower, and Disaster Transport.
  11. Are you sure that this wasn't a sorbet. It's traditionally served between courses to cleanse the palate. Sherbet is a bit less common between courses.
  12. You had to pay for food on the cruise? BLASPHEMY.....especially if it's just a burger.... Of course I'm sure it's royalties (franchise fee, whatevs)....
  13. Hippo > Penguin
  14. ^I like Knott's better than SFMM, so it's obviously not bad IMHO. I would hold off for Xcelerator too. It's a great ride, and I think it being open is worth a little delay in the trip.
  15. ^^Lou, why did you edit my post? Too much work to click "quote"?....LOL And I'm not sure if you can pay for it. I didn't ask. But I'd guess you might be able to. Maybe one of the Disney cast members around here knows.
  16. Paula, I hope that the teens on the show get through that entire category. I would hate to see this be like the "Colbert Report" delay. Of course since it's recorded ahead of time, you'd at least know before it aired.
  17. ^LOL I didn't even notice those. Those were the castmember's sunglasses, as well as the jacket on the right.
  18. So, last weekend, I went to Disneyland with some out of town friends visiting from Arizona and San Diego. Well, they happened to know some people working at the park, and arranged to get the "VIP car" on the Disneyland Railroad at 1pm. Luckily the park was pretty dead on the Friday, so we had already hit the major attractions that were open before we even headed over that way. Now I had no idea that there even was a VIP experience on the DL Railroad, but I was glad I had taken my camera. Well, we got there a few minutes before 1, and when the 1pm train came, it wasn't the one with the "VIP car", so we waited a few more minutes, and it rolled on in. So the VIP car is actually the parlour car, named The Lilly Belle (after Walt's wife). It was another way for Walt to impress his friends when they were in the park visiting (and we all know how much he loved his train). However, it wasn't finished until after he died, but Lilly did enjoy riding around the park in it (she hated crowds). It was in service for special guests of the park (and those with connections) until about 15-20 years ago (I can't remember the dates). It was falling into disrepair, and termites had done quite a number on the car. So until they found funding to fix it, it sat in the Roundhouse for a number of years. The employees eventually raised enough money to have it refurbished since it wasn't a priority for the company. It came back to Disneyland in 2003, and again serves as a "VIP" car. When you ride in it, you take a full grand circle tour, and get a railroad cast member as a guide telling you all about the history and such. It was a very neat experience. And now on to the pictures. EDIT: Sorry, the pictures are backwards in order. I thought I remembered having to load them in reverse here, but I must have been just been thinking about the order they're displayed in after you load. I think I hear it coming! Courtney and Cass decide to sit down to wait. A picture of the interior of the car. Very Victorian in theme. Plush velvet seats, designs carved into the legs and backs of the seats, stained glass windows and lamps. A portrait of Walt and Lilly. A piece of needlework art that Lilly herself completed. The train was probably a nice place to relax for the day for Lilly. Curl up on the plush parlour chairs, read a book, and appreciate the happy people enjoying the park. Walt's smoking jacket on the left. The family allowed it to be left on display. Hmmm.........No smoking, then why is Walt's smoking jacket in here. Looking down the length of the car during our ride. The carpet is the last scrap of his original apartment carpeting. Looking back towards the train. You can see the Lilly Belle attached to the back. I actually snapped this because of Goofy and the Omnibus though.
  19. I can think of a couple others. And really, I guess I'm not really seeing it in THESE forums.
  20. Sorry, I didn't mean to put down FlipDude's. They're amusing, but I have a feeling I just don't get some of the inside jokes. And honestly, he was like the originator of the genre. I guess I just don't understand why it has become a thing on here to always put down other sites' content.
  21. Wow, this makes me sad that everyone is so quick to criticize. They're poorly drawn, but I think that is the point (many successful webcomics are nothing more than stick figures). I think they're funnier than FlipDude's so far (although the latest one is stupid)
  22. Honestly, I think they're just trying to turn this park into the model it used to be successful with. A small regional park, with lower admission, and a kick butt water park. I grew up 30 min from Cedar Point, and we went almost every year. At the same time, we also made trips to Geauga Lake and Wyandotte lake. Why? They had the better water parks, their admission was about 1/2 of CPs (It was $12 when I was a kid vs CP's $28, and when there's 12-14 going, that's a big factor), and it was small enough that you could do the whole park in less than a day. I think this is a move by CF to make the park profitable again. Remove some rides, build up the water park, make it a picnic destination for companies, and improve the guest service by only keeping the best workers you have. And what better way than removing two of the most expensive coasters to operate and maintain. The park was successful back in the 80s and early 90s with just 4 coasters (Big Dipper, Double Loop, and Corkscrew......later RWB). This park is about being a much cheaper alternative to Cedar Point. The water park was always the main draw anyways. I know they're "ruining" the park from a coaster enthusiast perspective. But from a business perspective, it makes a lot of sense.
  23. Um, that's because the other side is down for yearly rehab. Be glad, usually they shut the whole thing down and say, "Sorry, come back in March". This year they seem to be doing it in pieces.
  24. Wow, amazing TR, how did I miss this before. that food looked amazing (the dinner by the house on stilts pic). I need to get to Asia at some point.
