  1. I find that eating one meal a week that is "bad' works for me. Other times I'm eating good portions and pretty healthy. Combine this with a very very strict work out regimen and diet last summer I'm down to around 140 (usually a little under) from 170 just a year prior. At home, like now, is killer. I have no access to the gym, and since it's in the summer months it's too hot to run outside. I'm on vacation from working or school so I don't want to do anything. I also tend to eat out more and eat more both in and out. At home I've gained like one or two pounds this whole break, but once I go back I'm going back to the gym daily.
  2. I too heard it turned into scrap. It was a modified version of a prototype and was a nightmare. I heard rumors from people at the park it was so bad that they had to repour foundations every once in a while. The trains were redesigned multiple times. It went down all the time. It never could perform to advertised capacity. The interior queue was poorly designed with not enough exit areas that they could never use it. The ride was put together with bolts which caused a lot of it's shakiness. It goes on, and on, and on. HXLC had a special place in my heart: it as my first big boy coaster back when I was in middle school. It was, initially, an incredible ride. I thank that ride for getting me into parks and coasters.
  3. Woah, hold on there kiddo. 1.) Monsters Inc ride is close to being approved, but it has been for at least a year or two. They're sitting on it, and the location where it was to be installed currently has offices in it for the NEXGEN initiative. 2.) Name the new rides in FLE besides Little Mermaid. Also, check our Lutz's new article this week. 3.) This is pure speculation that happens all the time. Wishful thinking. Same for AK. There are always projects just waiting to be approved, but thanks to TDO being lazy I don't think anything will get added unless they are forced to.
  4. Did you use flash on those dark rides?
  5. Amazing. Indiana Jones i still my favorite ride of all time, form what I've seen, FJ will give it a run for it's money. Thanks for the pics!
  6. For Disney fans, Tom Bricker has a great flickr page with awesome WDW photos. I downloaded like 20 and have them circulating as my background. Simply the best.
  7. Oh puh-leeze. Yes it's the awesomeness that's scaring people off of going. It's not that families are scared, it's not that people are brainwashed by Disney. IoA doesn't offer a rounded experience. If they can ride coasters and water rides at Six Flags (granted, not as good ones), then why would they spend the time and money to go to IoA? There are plenty of people who DON'T like to ride coasters who aren't under the age of 10! SHOCKING NO? Disney offers fireworks, parades, lots of live shows, meet and greets, carnival rides, dark rides, thrill rides, water rides, the list goes on and on. Potter is a great first move, but they need more. (Different from my little rant here, another thorn in IoA's side is Magical Express, which is brilliantly designed to get people using Disney transport all over and having them balk at spending money on any transportation in the Orlando area. Don't forget the brilliantly evil Magic Your Way ticket schemes where once you get up to a 6 days or so it's just a few extra bucks for another day, versus how much for IoA?)
  8. I do not think everything IoA and UO offers is better than Disney. Disney offers a rounded experience, that's why it does well. Why IoA doesn't do well? Because word of mouth has spread that unless you love huge thrill rides or water rides there's nothing to do. Lets see, Cat in the Hat, Possideon, carousel, Storm Force? 3 rides you cannot ride on when it's cold out. 8 rides cannot operate when it's sever weather. Lets do a thought experiment: imagine it's raining heavily at Magic Kingdom, what percentage of the rides can you ride? Epcot? What about IoA? What about fireworks and parades? IoA has some great rides, but it's horribly balanced as a park. Potter goes very far in balancing things out, offering another indoor ride, but more needs to be done. You need more everyone friendly rides that don't involve a height requirement or get you soaking wet. Note I didn't say kiddie or family, but rides like Pirates, Haunted Mansion, etc. UO still suffers from the height requirement plague that IoA does, but at least not nearly every ride either closes due to weather or gets you wet. IoA gets coaster enthusiasts wet because they see two of the best coasters in Orlando here and two amazing thrill rides. Most people are happy with that, but are just as happy with Big Thunder, Space, etc.
  9. Better at WDW: HM Splash Big Thunder (IMHO) ToT Better at DL: Space Jungle Cruise Buzz
  10. They'll be open, but no guarantees. 2 days at Universal in January is A LOT of time. I'd say go 4 at Disney and one day jumping between the parks at Universal (three of the major rides at IoA you won't want to do in Jan.) They don't care about late Fastpasses 99.999% of the time.
  11. I thought both played VERY well. Or it could have been the beers.
  12. How does FP for WoC force you to be in the park all day? Am I missing something? 1.) Show up at opening 2.) Get FP 3.) Go do whatever you want. Ride rides, go home, do errands, go to work, etc 4.) Show up in enough time to line up for show 5.) See show 6.) PROFIT!!!1! I think soon we'll see Disney messing with this FP concept, closing of rides, and the dining options. It's just unrealistic to keep this up beyond this summer. Once Davison has gone to his next big thing they'll keep the rides open (with no lights on mind you) longer. Also, WoC is now getting the reputation of an up-charge attraction due to the meals.
  13. I'm betting on Spain, I think they have the heart and drive and did better against a harder opponent than Netherlands. Spain, another 1-0, in standard time.
  14. Probably not, it was unmanned and unpowered (only pulled by a tug boat). Even if it could, the time and energy it would require to stop and turn around would be impractical and probably put the safety of those in the water at risk. Thoughts are prayers are with the family of those missing....
  15. Question to those who've been at the park a lot recently (post WoC opening): have they been lowering WoC fully into the lagoon or just keeping it at show level? In the photo above it shows the platform at show level...
  16. The original plans for the referb were to be amazing, instead costs were cut and we got this crap. I forget who posted the plans (maybe Jim Hill) but I can't find them right now. Three rides closed, one new one put in that was quickly closed. Added one showplace that's always empty. HISTA. *sigh*
  17. "Neddy doesn't believe in insurance. He considers it a form of gambling." - Maude Flanders
  18. And to think 75% of those people won't ride Forbidden Journey at all...
  19. There is no Disney/Universal/Orlando sponsored bussing system, but BeemerBoy has a valid option. I would rent a car, it's a far distance, you can get that early in the morning, and after it all you can stop by any stores to pick up supplies you might need.
  20. Which Cardinal Mooney? My best friend went to the one in Sarasota.
  21. Who cares? It's a new studio, new console, new publisher, new concepts. It's not a port, it won't be the same. They just realized no Bond game since it has actually captivated people and they want MONEY.
  22. Possible he lost consciousness in the pool from low blood sugar then drowned.
  23. from youtube... "he tried to put the fire out by jumping in the pond in front of him but the whole walk on water thing fucked him over"
