  1. ^^^I wonder how much of that will actually be added to the ride. We all know concept art doesnt necessarily equal the real thing.
  2. That would so not work today with all the cracks and uneven pavement, that's a workers' comp claim waiting to happen. Going down "suicide hill" is one thing, but going up would be rediculous. Great leg workout though!
  3. I'm so excited for next weekend...im flying to Atlanta to visit my sister and put some mileage on my Six Flags pass! Even better if the crowds stay low like it was in the photos above!
  4. I noticed that all of these shows are of the newer, younger Nickelodeon and not the Nick us kids of the 80s grew up with. I think the shows they have now lend better to such a theme park concept whereas they are mostly animated shows. The Nick of the past was more live action.
  5. I'm really excited to see the old-school costumes up close! I miss the days when each area (and each ride in certain cases) had their own costume to reflect the theme.
  6. ^ Lots of great photos. Seeing the "Atomic Collider" really makes me miss Tampico Tumbler at Knott's. I really think its cool that they have been trying to keep as many rides open as possible during the transition. It can't be easy for them, but shows they want the best possible experience for the paying guests.
  7. Just 6 for me... Wacky Soap Box Racers - Knotts Windjammer - Knotts Flashback - SFMM Psyclone - SFMM Lightning Bolt - MGM Grand Adventures High Roller - Stratosphere Tower
  8. That sounds a bit like how Pirates works (at least at Disneyland...cant remember about the WDW one). There is a small "panel" underneath one of the railings on the unload side. There's a button that can be pressed to disable dispatch on the second boat so that they can send just the first one.
  9. I remember them adding that brake during the last really big rehab...I'm thinking 05 or 06. I was thinking it was to reduce speed as you enter the turn and possibly reduce the backup before the little drop back into the building by allowing more space. But that's just a guess.
  10. ^ WDW's Splash has a small drop after Drop 2 (the roller coaster one). Its not that big, but it has a holding gate and everything. There's also a small drop after the big drop (Drop 4) right before the log re-enters the mountain. I have never seen them load or unload from the holding position. It seems those railings could be removed to load and unload from there. I imagine in the days before the station gates, they probably did load and unload three logs at a time, much like at Disneyland back in the day.
  11. There seems to be no great way to get to the park until the construction is finished. Only thing I can say is go early. My last two trips I got to the area around 30 minutes before opening and it hasn't been that bad. Now leaving around 2-3p is a different story...lots of traffic headed toward the park. Since we seem to be comparing routes... From Vegas I exit the 14 at Via Princessa. Take that to Whites Canyon and then left on Soledad Canyon. It turns into Valencia Blvd and turn right onto Magic Mountain Parkway.
  12. ^Cool pictures. I couldn't help but notice that you worked there after they added the brakes at the bottom of the big drop. Any ideas why they did that? I remember them being added a year or two ago, but I never understood why it was able to operate fine for so long without them.
  13. ^What exactly are they doing right there anyway? It looks like they are moving The Old Road...at least it seems that way.
  14. ^ That's what I was thinking especially since they haven't built the tunnel yet. Then again, perhaps they want to check the performance of the new train before they start with the tunnel?
  15. ^^Perhaps that's why both of my visits this year have seen Wascals closed. From my experience, that seems to be one place that's ALWAYS open. Then again using the Justice League area would allow for a lot more seating than currently available at the other Johnny Rockets location.
  16. ^Actually for sometime after the death they added a four-point racing style harness in addition to the seat belts and lap bars. It wasn't until last year that they finally got the new boats with OTSRs.
  17. I was on Screamscape this morning and they are reporting more Johnny Rockets opening in Six Flags parks across the country, including another at our beloved Magic Mountain. My question...where is this second location going? I would think they'd put it somewhere on the other side of the mountain but I can't think of any vacant restaurants in Six Flags Plaza, Baja Ridge or High Sierra Territory. Unless that's what they have in store for Laughing Dragon Pizza Co OR they plan to replace Wascals.
  18. They should have known that thing was gonna fade from the start! You can't paint things bright blue and purple and hope its gonna stay that way especially with all the sun that little area gets. The faces on there look "printed" I wonder if they still have the artwork for them? Perhaps they should try something a little more simple?
  19. ^ I remember reading that it had something to do with the girl being too small, but that could be a mistake in my recollection. As for the Knott's incident, that rider was deemed too large, although the lapbar and seatbelt were functioning "properly". In reaction, they put the five point-style harness on the seats and then determined that you could now be either too big or too small to ride depending how snug it fit. After that they then added the OTSRs they now have. In the past I have seen Intamin rides testing with the t-bars up, so they didn't necessarily have sensors to determine if the bars are down far enough. Due to the design of the bars, they can lock in any position, not necessarily one that provides the maximum protection for all shapes and sizes. That said...Knotts has since added a little guage to the bars for Xcelerator that turns green when the bar is down far enough. It works similar to a "level". Additionally, at SFMM they added sensors to Superman that will not allow the car to launch unless all the bars are down to a pre-determined level.
  20. ^^ Yup that is correct. Two seperate operators, close but not together.
  21. Wow, four years is a long time for the family to be dealing with this. Granted I'm not familiar with the UK legal system, but this was a long long time coming. Just for comparison purposes anyone remember how long it took for them to settle with the family from the Perilous Plunge incident?
  22. That entrance sign could use just as much in the way of paint as the rest of the ride...looking rough!
  23. ^^^ I've been to that room...it's in the National Consitution Center. It is very very creepy! This is me...myspace style!
