Knotts in UK TV channel ident/promo
haiderodes replied to Marcus Sheen's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I looked through a few of these idents, and I have to say they are really cool! Much better than anything I have seen here in the states. -
I see that Eric and I are close in age and I too as a kid use to call MM my home. The Mountain Express was the 1st coaster I road alone when I was around 10. It was right near where Flachback is (was). The entrance is all the same. But the booths in front are different and the security check points. I agree with Robb that area will go to HH but I don't see SSMM doing anything until they get the park cleaned up. For now that area may get turned into a little bit more of a beach and staging area. Thanks for all the info. It was just one of those curiousity things. I remember Mystic Lake. In fact I remember standing in line for Flashback with a line out of the queue house with those boarding pass slips when the ski show let out and everyone trying to jump in line.

I completely agree with SkyCoaster being worth it if you haven't tried it at least once. After a few trips, I'd say ok to pass unless its in a unique setting. I got my fair share of rides on the old MGM Grand Adventures SkyScreamer when I worked there in high school. During our month of training we had to ride it over and over while the SkyCoaster ops were getting their training hours in. We also would stay after the park closed to get a couple rides in every now and then. Nothing like riding solo at night!

That brought back memories of Magic Mountain when I was a kid. Especially Eagles Flight and the Grecian Fountains. You just dont see pictures of those these days. -
As appetizing as it would be to have a new attraction in that spot, part of me feels its not going to happen. Why? The years-long rumblings about how the ride was a distraction for the lifeguards, plus there aren't really any attractions in that area save for the backside of Bugs Bunny World. Why take out a loud one and put in another loud one? Its a really quiet area except during Fright Fest and even then thats only at night. Granted, out front is a large mostly flat piece of concrete in front of the Season Pass Center which is begging for an attraction entry, but I dont think its gonna happen any time soon. IMO, I think they will use it for the water park and that's not saying for a slide or anything. They could very well use it as a service area. Question: Last couple times I was in that area (in 2006) I noticed that gate has turnstyles. Do they or did they ever use that area as a secondary entrance to the park. For those old-timers, has the entry to SFMM always been to the left and has the configuration changed at all? My first visit I can remember was when I was like 5 so that would have been like 1988. From watching National Lampoons and Rollercoaster I cant seem to match up the entrance with the current layout.

Man, I had to move my SFMM trip from the 19th to the 25th because of work. Hope everyone has a great time. One of these days I shall make it to a TPR event! -
Top ten movies of 2007
haiderodes replied to Leaping La Ronde Boobis's topic in Random, Random, Random
I go to the movies at least once a week, so I have seen TONS of movies this year. Here are some of my favs... Across the Universe Sweeney Todd Transformers Waitress The Kite Runner Lars and the Real Girl Joshua There were some others that I liked, but I wouldnt consider them favorites... Sunshine Fracture 3:10 to Yuma No Country for Old Men Rendition Disturbia The Darjeeling Limited Oh and I actually prefer going to the movies alone. Less distraction! And I cant stand when people text in the theatres...they should reserve the back row for all those people so the light doesnt shine directly in my eyeball. -
That is exactly how I felt, they eliminated themselves, by not u-turning them. I mean, why u-turn a team you havent seen!
-
^ You know I was thinking that same thing. I wonder if they had a choice of where they could get the tattoo. I guess the shoulder was a pretty smart area considering they'd have to take care of it for the remainder of the race until it healed.
-
^ That's not always the case...the past two seasons (10 and 11) the fast foward leg was not a non-elimination leg and thus the teams were eliminated. In fact in season 10, the fast forward leg was the one where David and Mary were eliminated because they were "marked for elimination".
-
I also thought Dinosaur was the same ride system and track layout just with different scenery. I remember seeing a layout drawing around here a couple years ago.
-
The non-elimination suprised me as it had been rumored that there weren't going to be any for this season. I do like the idea of the speed bump better than the penalty they had on the last race (coming into first or have the time penalty).

Shane's Amusement Attic

I love the drawings on all of these old-school ads and brochures. Can't find anything that cool anymore. Its funny, in a way, with all the advances in computer design no one seems to be able to capture the charm that these ads once have. Hell, even the parks themselves cant seem to continue that tradition. -
Six Flags Season Pass 1 day sale!
haiderodes replied to KGA29's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Its still $3.00 for print at home. That allows you to print the voucher. All of the passes have to be processed at the park regardless. -
Six Flags Season Pass 1 day sale!
haiderodes replied to KGA29's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ I don't think the water park passes work the same way as the theme park passes. I always thought they are only good for that specific waterpark, but I may be wrong. -

^ The range has to be more than 200 miles. I live in Las Vegas, which is almost 250 miles from SFMM. -
Six Flags Season Pass 1 day sale!
haiderodes replied to KGA29's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ As far as I know, this is a discount on the regular passes which are valid for all parks in the system, so to speak. I think when they refer to premium passes, they are talking about the XtremePasses that include FlashPass and parking or Combo passes that include the paid waterparks. I bought mine about an hour ago. $45 for SFMM. This is a fantastic deal! -
^ Yeah, near the past couple of weeks Azaria was being a pain in the ass, especially at the airport. He was talking to her like she was a child...big no no. Reminded me a little of Peter and Sarah for a minute.
-
^ I remember those lines. Back when Mystic Lake was still around they had an actual queue house. That would be full and then there would be overflow down the midway. They would hand out those "boarding passes" to make sure no one was cutting in line. It was such a cool looking ride. I always thought the trains, albeit not the most comfortable, were pretty cool looking. Remember how they had all those flashing lights all over the structure? One thing I never understood was why during loading they sometimes had to unlock and relock the restraints often multiple times manually.
-
So Azaria and Hendekea are gone and I am sad. They were so strong so early, but like they said at the end of the episode, they beat themselves by making mistakes at the airport in Lithuania. I don't know who's got it now. Don't really have a favorite in this race yet. Next episode isnt for two weeks tho due to the Survivor finale.

Question about Universal Studios Hollywood crowds
haiderodes replied to lapseofreason's topic in Ask Alvey
This time of year the park shouldn't be bad at all. Especially a Monday. You might have some tour groups, but nothing that you can't handle. Only downside of visiting in December is the lack of some of the shows, but if you are just going for the few rides, then you'll be good. We went on a Friday last December and you could hear the crickets. My friend and I were like...damn is it even open?
