Hey! Well, my dad is a disaster services volunteer for the American Red Cross, so, since he was participating in a fundraiser at SFMM today, I thought I would join him. I thought I would share a TR of the event with you guys...just because! I didn't actually go in the park, so I didn't put this in the Theme Park section (even if it did take place just outside of one). Well, I got up at 7 this morning, and we were heading for the Santa Clarita Red Cross Headquarters by 8. When we got there, we loaded up on supplies, like cookies, water, ice, a few signs, people, etc. Then we headed to the emergency vehicle. My ride...well, I rode with my dad in the Honda, but I was somewhat associated with this ride. When we got to SFMM, I was certainly surprised by the massive efforts on SFMM's part. They had signs, canopies, cash boxes, staff power, security...even mascots out to aid the event. They really went farther than I expected. All we had to do as the Red Cross, was make a presence and take the money. SFMM did everything else. They even had a few managers out, that I almost walked by saying "damn I could use a B&M Flyer", to see their reaction....but I held back, because I wasn't there to find out about future projects. All SFMM's doing...anything we asked for, they got us. Look who joined the party I was also surprised to see that they had contacted the local fire departments, the Explorer firemen (like, youth firemen in training) and the Girl Scouts. The Girl Scouts ended up helping the most! I guess its harder to deny money to a little girl than it is a scraggly teenager with long hair and a big nose (that would be me)! My dad heading back to the headquarters because we forgot stuff. Whats that in the backround I see? When we came back, we had some more signs and pamplets and stuff. Me, in my super sexy temp-volunteer vest, putting up a sign. The vest reminded me of those lead X-ray vests you wear at the dentists...lol. And what is that in the backround, I see, again? Then, the local media began to show up....again, SFMM's doing. NBC4 and an unmarked van (which, I was just informed was KTLA 9) showed up. I decided to stay out of the shots, and let the Girl Scouts and Explorer Firemen do their jobs...once again, better media than a scraggly teenager with long hair and a big nose. The unmarked TV van---my dad just told me it was KTLA 9 The media really helped, because people were definetely more willing to give money in front of the cameras! I told the Red Cross that they should buy a camera like that, and fake a recording at these events to make more money...lol. Of course, even SFMM was helping! The tram announcers were announcing on the way to the park that the Red Cross had set up a donation point, and to drop off money. This way, people could get out their wallets and purses before they arrived. Camera people and other people. A fresh batch of people to intimidate into donating. Well, the event was an expirence for me, and quite fun too. I started at SFMM at 9, and stayed till 12:30. In that time period, we made 4,000 dollars. We have just recieved a call saying that, at the end of the day, they had made 7,000 dollars! But the best part for me, was that, even with a few checks and large bills, the majority of that money was small change and Ones. Just goes to show you that every little bit counts! So if you have loose change at your house or in your pockets, go donate it, because it definitely can make a difference, even when it doesn't seem that way. Well, thats all for me. One, final, slightly blurry, slightly roller coaster related, yet somewhat Red Cross related, departing picture for you... -Jahan

Six Flags, Why is it so bad ?
arrowfanman replied to rosscoe's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Viper isn't that bad. But then again, when I was 11, I hated it. I think you kinda have to grow into the restraints. The trick is to not go expecting too much out of them. Then you might be surprised to find them doing things that they are supposed to be doing, and leave with a smile on your face...lol. -
How did you end up here???
arrowfanman replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I was gonna start making videos for another site, and the webmaster directed me to your video section, and basically said "make them like this." Than later I was at the Ride World event at SFMM, and I saw rob in the last row of Goliath....cept I didn't know it was Robb. Later, when I was looking at your videos again, I checked your TR of the event, and found me hidden in the back corner of the X station (just to the right of the little X sign, with the big hair: http://www.themeparkreview.net/solace2005/solace35.jpg ). So, after that, I figured we were practically family, and thought I would join! -
Yup...that seems to be circulating around the employees. I even had someone from the GAMES DEPARTMENT tell me it was a B&M Flying coaster!...lol. (Although, I guess mechanics would be more credible). Well, I have just recieved a letter from ACE, discussing a leader change for the SoCal, and it says this: So, if ACE is announcing this, that means a park rep has told them. I know this isn't any real news to anyone. All it tells me, is that, yes, chances are it will open in April (taken that the Silver Bullet ERT was a month after that openned). However, I personally wouldn't be surprised if it opens Memorial Day weekend...that would be the official 35th anniversary.

Shanghai Disneyland Opening 2012
arrowfanman replied to Jose Eber's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Look...I was mostly against it, because it was my dream to work at WDI. I dont care what people say, and I dont care how hard it would be, thats what I wanted to do, ok. And now that stories are coming out with major layoffs that will take place, and simply a few exectutives managing projects, and outsourcing the work out (...well...even MORE work out).. . . .and I just think that simply updating the latest Disneyland and "plopping" ( ) it wherever, contributes greatly to the fall of that portion of the company. That is what upsets me. And I wish Walt hadn't died because I rather see the company go in that direction...not that there wouldn't be the clones...but rather I prefer that direction. -
Shanghai Disneyland Opening 2012

I personally am not looking forward to another Disneyland! And I am the person who likes Disneyland, and its small castle, better than most people! For a second there, I thought there would be a chance of a different kinda park. Like an original concept, like Disney Sea. But no....another Disneyland. Between the Pixar rides, the park clones, and the general lack of risktaking, I personally think we are seeing the start of a slow death of Disney imagination. Lets just hope Expedition Everest can pull them out of it. Just my opinion. -
Ok, the update is ready. I think I over-exaggerated, in shock. No track has actually been removed yet. However, the electrical lines, that provided the vehilces lights and that audio that has the guy booming "We are now heading to Samuri Summit--home of Superman: The Escape--the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world!", have been removed, and have been dumped on the track, about 1/2 way up. I can only assume that it is the first step to take, in actually removing the ride. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Damn Photobucket limits my comments!

Phantasialand Discussion Thread

Man! Those supports are so far apart, making that lift SUPER-Beefy! I will definitely have to follow this construction...mhm. -
Oh please. When I am walking around and I see a handicapped person stand out of their wheelchair, so their friend can sit down (and so they can push it)....or when people are racing in wheelchairs. . . its pretty evident that they are BS'ing it. I see it all the time. All you have to do is rent a wheelchair, and they can't deny you a handicapped pass.

The Disney parks dont normally care if you film. Ironically, I believe the only ride in the DLR that you cant film is the Tower of Terror, and thats for trademark reasons!

I might be going tomorrow, to get pics. I think I might make a thing of going on Fridays, as its the end of the week & working days, and the progress will be most up to date till next week. See you tomorrow! P.S. Has everybody heard about that track outside of the B&M manufactering facility in Ohio? What do you guys think about that? Do you think those pics that have been circulating are old? I mean, its obvious by looking at the track that this is an inverted style, but who knows what for. . . . . .or when they were taken...lol.
-
They probably didn't install a lift, because the majority of 'handicapped' is punks who just rent a wheelchair and then abuse the system. Theres nothing worse than when I lose my spot to some guy that just gets out of his wheelchair and walks over to the vehilce... ...you know who you are....

I went saturday, and the only visible change from Tuesday was that there are a lot of these new pink markers that are showing up, all around the Orient Express track. (Right of the track...yes, those are pink...on a bigger version of the pic, you can see a clear distinction between those, and the orange ones.) Also, I dont know if this has been mentioned or not, but I rode Log Jammer*, and when I was at the top of the second lift, I took some pictures...I couldn't even see what I got till AFTER I uploaded the pics...lol. The picture I uploaded shows markers and marked trees...Ironically, I took this picture looking away from the Oriental Gardens, but hey, its still close by.

I went today: There are new markers all around the orient express track. I couldn't get a good pic though. Sorry. Heres a story for you though: I had just gotten off of Revolution, and the Ride Op goes, "are you from Theme Park Review?" I said, "yea, are you?" He said, "No, but my brother is..." And thats my story of how I ran into 4718's brother!

50% Persian, 25% British, 12.5% Scottish, 12.5% German. An odd combination, but hey, I make it look damn good.
