Yeah I'm usually surrounded by girls and I never wear pink. I guess that makes me a little straighter than you. Ouch.

I would presume there would be water at the bottom of the drop to slow it down a bit. -

A Second of Realism from Rock MacDaniel: There would have been a maximum of 3 entries had Calaway not extended the deadline... again. DEADLINE, what does that word mean? Oh yeah, it means that if you volunteer to participate and then do not complete your entry on time you either admit your failure to complete, for whatever reason, or move on. Before somebody jumps on me, I at least admit that I was dumb and misread the rules so I would have been disqualified had I finished on time anyway. Everybody else getting angry over Calaway canceling the tournament before they finished, since you were all suddenly inspired to actually finish, after extending the deadline TWICE needs to just get over it. Calaway has all the right to cancel this tournament, not only for people losing interest, but also because there were only two who didn't and that is not enough to continue the competition anyway. A tournament is a challenge, you are supposed to work your time to enter it, not the other way around. We all obviously didn't and I don't see how any of us could possibly get angry at Calaway. If you really think you are going to finish a submission and not just blow it off again, start another tournament if you want one so bad. It's just my personal opinion, but I get the feeling nobody would enter that one either... not on time, at least. [/rant]

Awsome Raptor Model
BiCoastal Kid replied to Eric_Smith's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Well, just so you know, the only way make a model that goes the same speed relative to the layout would be to either make the model JUST AS BIG as the real thing, or control it's movement. -

Yeah, thats why I used the Grand Palais. It's wayyy more intricate than this station idea would ever be, but it's got the similar arches and corridors, I guess would be an okay word for that... -

No such thing as too much glass! -

Well that's why I said that the actual mechanics would definitely need support. The rest, the shell and the limited queue that he has there, would probably be possible. From what I remember, I believe it works by fitting together laminated glass sheets and then compressing them together. Kinda like one of those 3d puzzles, sheet by sheet, except bigger and glass. It's supposed to be extremely strong. Probably reaaaaaaaaally expensive, but it's be pretty cool. They could also make it out of clear acrylics, since those are also pretty durable. I think it could be done, if done correctly. -

BiCoastal Kid replied to coasterfan200692's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Aside from holding up the track and station mechanics, you could actually make the rest out of glass. They have compressed glass technology now that allows glass to be VERY strong and support lots of weight. By compressing the glass, they lessen it's flexibility and make it way more sturdy. It would be EXTREMELY expensive, but completely possibly. I believe I read somewhere there is going to be a pedestrian bridge made of compressed glass like this somewhere in Britain. What's even cooler is you can run fiber-optics through it before you press the molds and you could basically light up the structure instead of needing other lights. -

Well it's not like he's gonna be able to tell if they packed the park pack 3ds anyway since they will still show up, anyway. Also, how is anybody supposed to terrain this? There is one spot where you could do it realistically and that's about it.it might as well be left flat. -

What supports are there aren't bad. The layout is somewhat lack-luster and could be tightened a bit, and maybe some more variation thrown in. I think your turns could have been bent around to go back over your launch and then the helix ending to go into brakes parallel to the station. It would have tightened up the layout, probably boosted the adrenaline a bit, and could have made for some fun close-calls going over the launch. I am, however, not sure about launched flyers... I'm on the fence about them. Something tells me it wouldn't be comfortable, especially a sudden launch like that. Interesting idea though... -

BiCoastal Kid replied to Eric_Smith's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Well there are other ways, they just aren't efficient. It was still kind of pointless to even jump in for that, and 90% of the time if a park pack object was included it was a mistake. The no-packaging rule is mainly to help consistency so that there aren't duplicate object. The staff of CS are well-aware that some people will unfortunately take their objects. EVEN if the objects were included, he could just look on the list and choose NOT to re-install those objects. Also, if it wasn't obvious that this is a "I'm to lazy to put effort into finishing my track" "contest", it basically is and that makes it even more ridiculous to give criticism. -

Not bad. A few suggestions: -Try to make the first drop a little more fluid, it goes over the top and then "locks" in the drop curve/valley. -Con roll should be used any banked sections, you missed a few, and if you skipped it because of the con roll "jerk" it's easily fixed by splitting longer segments up. Conr-roll jerks are caused by uneven vertex handles, so if you make the segment lengths relatively the same you wont see that. -Drop off the second brake, NO. It's way too small for intamin trains, also your head gets cut off. Maybe a straight drop into a flat turn would work better there. -Try to use custom supports. A small ride like this is really a great opportunity to practice.
