Whats your favorite slow song?
BiCoastal Kid replied to Twister II's topic in Random, Random, Random
I agree with that. I agree with it a lot. According to iTunes, there's no such thing as hardcore or metal either... oops. Strange, I don't need to act observant to see that a person can't know if they have good music tastes or not if their scope is so limited that they post a poll on music with two choices... from the same genre no less. I'm not gonna mention your misuse of that saying. If people didn't start making different and original music, nobody would have had the opportunity to decide if they liked it or not. If people years ago didn't start making the the type of music you listen to a while ago when IT was different, and they just made "what people like," You'd still be listening to stuff like Mozart and Bach... which is oddly enough, hundreds of years older and hundreds of times better than the two choices listed here. Know what you're talking about before you try to diss somebody. -

Glad to hear you guys made it back safely. Doesn't getting reassigned suck? Because, there's nothing more fun than sitting in an airport! It looked like you guys had a blast. I'm jealous of the UK-ness now... pre-jealousy. grawr Rock "Wonders what kinda music they'll use for these vids" MacDaniel -

I found out this summer that both The Secret Machines and The Von Bondies are good bands to drive to. -

This photograph is evidence that Robb Alvey is the missing link between humans and bears. A new natural unity can now be strived for.

It's good that you have a good hill to build on, that way you don't have to worry much about height. I'm disappointed, as it appears your ride won't be continuous circuit. That would have been very impressive. You should really go get some simple measurment of where you plan to build so you can get a pretty good idea of what your heights are going to be, and where everything is gonna have to go. As for the contruction of it all, for simplicity reasons, I would suggest a simple side-friction type track. Since this is your first time, not having to worry about up-stops will save time, effort, and probably a bit of money as well. For turns and such, you could use a simple stick-n-rope technique to ensure constant radii through the turns. I only suggest this because, unless your dad is going to help with surveying and such, you're probably going to build as you go. Using a rope tied off to a stake or pole in the center of where your turn you can create curves with constant radii, either increasing or decreasing the length of the rope or wire to make your turn wider or more narrow. These are just some suggestions to make things a little easier, and to possibly improve the quality your going to get. 8)

Permits are so you don't get in trouble with the law for building a structure without permission in an area that may have ordinances restricting such construction. Insurance is in case your ride is, and it probably will be, poorly shaped and decides to hurt you. Last, but not least, going to school while you build it is to fix your horrible spelling and sentence structure... the math might help, too.

Carowinds Question?
BiCoastal Kid replied to Erik Johnson's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Carowinds is a load of fun! Top Gun is onem of the best inverts out there, they've got an Intamin drop tower, their two woodies are pretty good, and the rest of their collection isn't half bad either! -
I like the train rolls along the support. O.o

^A whole butt-load of research and planning, that's how. -
^Yeah, but Disney made millions in movies/cartoons/merch before he even thought about seriously building Disneyland. Anyway, about the park, if you can make a good model fo what you want to do, it should help inconvincing people to invest/donate/vote/support in favor of your idea. If you can get a leg-in to a major park developer, that wouldn't hurt either.

Who makes the best coasters?
BiCoastal Kid replied to Gregory DG's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Big steel is Intamin all the way. TTD, Xcel, Cali Screamin', all od their hypers and such. Vekoma makes good small steel coasters like their roller skaters and mine trains. The only Arrow coaster I really like is Ninja @ SFMM, because it kicks a lot of butt. Schwarzkopf made the best portable rides by far. CCI pretty much mastered the "classic" woodie, but I think S&S will probably take over that market. Most of their woodies look great. GCI makes good twisters. But, I have the feeling that Intamin will wind up smoking them both if their few woodies to date show anything. -
