  1. I don't agree with the age limit difference (sounds like illegal discrimination), but women's underwires set off metal detectors, and a bouncer waving a wand around a woman's breasts can be accused of sexual harassment, as can his employer.
  2. ^^Ewwww. Is there a reason that just "Straight" wasn't enough, you needed to back it up by adding "with a g/f" and then professing your "love" of objectified, dehumanized female genitalia using a derogatory slang term that probably originates in putain, the French word for whore? Just wondering.
  3. I get the others, but Ghengis Khan? That sounds like a pretty scary, not to mention messy, meal to me. I admit extremely little knowledge beyond the stereotype, so maybe I'm just brainwashed. I stand by messy though, since I believe knives were the only flatware. Turkey legs all around?
  4. I just quoted him, so I need to add someone to my list: Samuel Clemens/Mark Twain And obviously then need to add: H L Mencken And possibly: Ambrose Bierce Don't Jesus Christ, Mark Twain, H L Mencken, and Ambrose Bierce together sound like one hell of a party? Johnny Depp can still come - I think he'd get a kick out of the company, too.
  5. I gotta do it. No, it is just human nature (I hope) to be curious. It is just human nature to be horny between the ages of 13-17 (or perhaps 117). If you'll pull out a psych of sex or human development textbook you'll find stages called Latency and Puberty that indicate it is typical for heterosexuals to be (and homosexuals to feel pressured to be) curious about the opposite sex starting at about 11. It is possible that horniness could cause curiousity about anything sexual around the same time. Having never been a teenage male I can't be sure, but I think it is more likely that denial ain't just a river in Egypt.
  6. Don't know if it fits your dates, but the ad on this page http://www.channelcincinnati.com/travelgetaways/9151864/detail.html seems pretty good - 5 nights in budget Disney resort, park hopper tickets, and minimal dining plan for $435/adult starting 8/13, booked by 6/4. Think I might spring for the insurance during hurricane season though. I'd kill (alright, maim) to find a similar deal for mid to late January or February '07.
  7. ^^^Thanks for the reminder - someone sent me some NPR clips on The Jesus Seminar, but like the stereotypical slacker of my generation I didn't follow up. When we saw Patti Smith last summer, she was actually late to the show because they had to stop and make a pilgrimmage to Whitman's house first. I would wither under Bankhead's keen eyes just as I did under Patti's. Reagan would only be on my list for a game of Whack-A-Mole (or Whack-A-President).
  8. Any further news? I'd be happy to skip work for a day.
  9. This spring in the mid-atlantic, 60% chance of rain has pretty much meant no rain, just cloudy, so the odds are on your side. Other than KK, the only rides we've seen any lines for have been Superman:UF, Nitro, and Medusa, and those were short. We got on Batman Chiller as walk ons twice when they were just opening it up, so no line for us, but that's where I would expect one. If it's not open when you go by, keep swinging around to check unless you can find an employee who seems reliable to say they won't be running it.
  10. That's cool - never hurts to hedge one's bets. But I'll add Johnny Depp as a backup just for the drool factor.
  11. Jesus Christ. Note 'Christ,' not 'of Nazareth.' Because he seems to be a compilation of myths from a number of different religions and cultures all rolled up together, and I would need actual physical proof to believe there really was such a person/creature. If there did end up being someone else at the table with me, I'd like his opinion of many of the things that have been done in his name.
  12. If I may add many of you Juniors wouldn't be around in the first place. Cowboy Junkies last month, Avalon Theatre, Easton, MD. Preceded by Natalie Merchant & Dr. John at Bard College and Patti Smith at the Brooklyn Academy of Music last December. Preceded by Patti Smith, Rickie Lee Jones, Indigo Girls, and Erin Mckeown at a public radio festival in Camden, NJ last summer.
  13. I'm not qualified to fully respond, but I get your point. I believe you've said it already, but basically the goal should be mixture and acceptance, not isolation or assimilation. But as a woman sometimes I NEED the company of women, and as a social science person and a grad of X school, I sometimes need the company of those people. It gives me a sense of belonging and the comfort of familiarity. Perhaps it's possible for society to be so open it's not necessary, but it may be as simple as coaster fanatics always seeking interaction with other coaster fanatics.
  14. Clarifying identity (perhaps through separateness) can be an important part of the process towards inclusion in the larger whole. Would Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth, and Frederick Douglas be mentioned in American history if they had not first been championed within black history and culture? Or Betty Friedan via feminist culture? (Oh, please, SOMEONE recognize these names.) Dominant society isn't automatically or rationally inclusive - if anything it's territorially exclusive, preserving it's own importance and domain. Until a group stands up and makes itself heard, it's ignored. I can only compare this to the prevalence of young women today NOT considering themselves 'feminists' & thinking all doors are already open to them. But doors are still closed, women's pay is still lower, and they don't even realize it. The women's movement wasn't perfect and mistakes were made, but the pioneers made great strides that may be sucked away if the younger generation doesn't stand firm to maintain or extend them.
  15. Dude, your name is coastercub - we knew! Sorry, it was too easy. But I'm sure your expression of, um, affection, was appreciated by many. My academic background is anthropology, so the culture vs. genetic debate has always fascinated me. I was gonna post this a few weeks back but since the discussion of re-orientation was becoming inflammatory thought it best to put it off. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/03/09/60minutes/main1385230.shtml (Identical twins with different sexual orientations, concluding not genetic, not nurture, but in-utero) and Do Bisexual Men Really Exist? http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/08/30/health/webmd/main805081.shtml (no, but all women are) I'm curious what other people think. They're small studies and certainly can't be considered definitive. I'd just like to hang out for some of the tumescence studies. & shouldn't the 5 lesbians out of 542 votes be rounding up to 1%, not down to 0%? As well as the 3 hobosexuals (who I suspect just had colds when they voted).
  16. No kids. I'm too overprotective & guilt ridden about my sphynx children to imagine how unbalanced I would be if I had human ones. And I like my freedom. My kids engaging in sibling rivalry
  17. Problem is that in those formative teen years they have to learn how to tell who they can trust, they have to talk to learn how social interactions work and practice them, and they've got so much stuff and so many changes going on they have lots to talk about. It sucked. I feel for you. But try to keep your personal stuff limited - it'll only come back to bite you if you don't.
  18. Ok, I'll volunteer to get back on track since I stuck my nose in. Straight married female. Don't think the typical collegiate Bisexual-Until-(slightly post)Graduation counts. [Real] Women are nice to watch & in my opinion usually better friends & conversationalists, but why ruin great friendships with something as transitory as sex? Compared to, aaaahhhhh, men! Once you find one you can talk to and laugh with who bothers to learn what he's doing, there's no contest.
  19. I was a coaster newbie last year (after being traumatized by Rebel Yell & a sadistic father as a small child), and searched for 'video' and 'Mind Eraser' to try to find out what the ride had actually been like since I was too busy plotting the murder of the guy who got me on it to really notice while riding. In combination with stats from rcdb, the videos here have really helped prepare me for what I can handle this year (up to Medusa & Superman:Ultimate Flight, hoping for SM:ROS at SFA in a few days). Loved the DVDs!
  20. I had a phase like that - it was called 'Depression' & they had medication for it. Some of the last posts were so disturbing I had to go back & read history. Now I'm sticking my nose in, but: Spike, 9 months ago you had a partner & you both knew you were gay from the time you were 6 or so. I'm sorry if something happened there that caused you discontent and forced you to look for new 'answers' or 'salvation.' You also mentioned having to change churches periodically so people didn't figure you out you were gay. You're in Canada! What kind of churches are you going to? There are really cool Quaker, Unitarian, and other churches all over the place that will except everyone for whatever they are. My pal who went to Methodist seminary had to join some other denomination because she was bi, but she found a place that accepted her for who she was. But if you don't have sexual feelings towards anyone the Catholics might like to meet you - they seem to have a shortage of priests with that quality. If you're happy - cool - but with the defensiveness of the last couple posts it's hard to perceive that you actually are.
  21. I was thinking about joining, but I could already stand to lose 30 lbs - would I suddenly need a gastric bypass if I join?
  22. Be nice. And less brain-washed. Lynda Carter, per imdb: 5' 9" (1.75 m) Measurements: 38-26-38 (Miss World USA pageant) Vital statistics in November 1986: 37-27-38 In comparison: Sandra Bullock 5' 7½" (1.71 m) Measurements: 33B-24-34 (Source: Celebrity Sleuth magazine) Methinks Ms. Carter had some very shapely junk in her trunk. The Wonder Woman we saw at SFGAdv Friday was FAR too skinny.
