I would much rather deal with any of those examples than an entitled 16 year American kid who thinks he is invincible the first time he legally drinks and kills someone with a DUI... -

I would be terrified of that. The majority of the people in America very much lack common sense... Hell, I've done a TON of stupid stuff while legally drunk... In fact, next time I visit Orlando I am sure this will be added to the places I have been drunk... -

It really seems like I-drive is finally being modernized...I love it! All these projects combined with all the land Universal controls is sure to lead to continued modernization of I-Drive into a true world class entertainment corridor. -
Finishing all the X-mas stuff.

I'm talking about entertainment options, not hotel rooms. They started dynamic show ticket prices a little time after Britney showed up and it REALLY upset a ton of customers. One day a ticket would be $85 and the next morning the same ticket would be listed at $250 for the same performance. Not the same show, the same performance. As in a Wednesday night show would shift prices on the fly, not prices change between a Wednesday show and a Friday show. High Roller has gone from $45 to $10 to $25 to multiple package deals to who the heck knows what anymore. The pricing for the damn wheel even changes depending on what property you purchase a ticket at. They lost a lot of potential revenue because it turned customers away to the multitude of other entertainment options in this city. Well, they had a 12% increase in revenue for the 3rd quarter vs 2014, so perhaps that dynamic pricing played a role in that? The company was going to declare bankruptcy no matter what, since it was buried under debt from the ill-timed purchase of all the shares to go private. My point was, implying that dynamic pricing will lead to the bankruptcy of the company is no way a fair comparison.
-
Not even close to a fair comparison. Caesars went bankrupt because of the debt that resulted from taking the company private. Plus, hotels have ALWAYS had dynamic pricing on their rooms and table games depending on the season, weekday vs. weekend, events in town, etc. Plus, the max price of a ticket is still less than Disney (going as low as $80---a great deal by modern major theme park standards), so it's hard to say it's greed when historically USH has always matched Disney after Disney raises prices. Greed would be using Potter as the opportunity to cross the dreaded $100 mark and making that the flat price.

I'm definitely looking forward to visiting next year as part of a weekend trip to see USC vs. Alabama at Jerry World. I haven't been on New Texas Giant either! -
^It sure is! They bought all 2,000 acres from Lockeed Martin in 1998 and actually filed initial planning documents with Orange County to get approval for a 3rd theme park, 2 golf courses, hotels, timeshares, and retail. They poured a bunch of money into cleaning the site up, but then....It was actually Vivendi (not GE) that went into "sell sell sell" mode as it tried to get rid of Universal because of financial trouble that stemmed from so much debt. They sold some of the land to the county to expand the convention center and the rest to the developer who would eventually end up foreclosing on the land...which is now back in Universal's hands thanks to that foreclosure. Makes you think that things could get rolling quickly, considering they already had plans for the area...

This could turn out to be interesting...I mean, Cedar Fair has right of first refusal but what if the NFL/9ners drive the price up too high? They have their long term lease, but if someone buys the land from under them... Right now their only saving grace is their ability to hold big special events (The Superbowl this year, WrestleMania, concerts, etc). The park is a veritable ghost town during 49'er games due to the way the team is playing. This is what the stadium looked like yesterday... 2 years removed from an NFC Championship game, and 3 years removed from a Superbowl appearance. The reason they pushed so hard for a new stadium is because with all the club/suites (and PSL's season ticket holders have to buy), the team still makes money no matter what the turn out is. -
Another great point on how they could better utilize the existing spaces they have! Disneyland was not designed to handle the things that make for a successful theme park in the modern era, including ODV carts. Really feels like there was no master plan for the park and they are paying for it now. I am terrified of how bad things will be by the time Star Wars land opens if major overhauls are not made...

That was my first thought upon seeing the pictures as well. It's like everything a tourist might do after a day at the parks rolled into one---restaurant, dinner show, casual bar, nightclub...looks awesome! -
Missile production and testing started long before Lockheed Martin and WDW existed. The predecessor to Lockheed Martin (pre-merger Lockeed and Martin were two separate companies) built and tested missiles on the site starting in 1958 all the way up 1996 when the now Lockheed Martin shut that part of the operation down. They still build electronics for missiles and guidance systems in Orlando. That predecessor company (Martin Marietta) actually built the Mark IV monorails for WDW at these facilities as well... The funny thing about all this is that Universal originally bought this land from Lockheed after they shut the plant down only to have GE sell it off.

But then we wont get night rides during Haunt. I know, its usually down for refurb during Haunt, but here's to hoping its open. s The refurb is usually before haunt so it is ready for Haunt. Which probably played a role in the rides demise...Cycling almost non stop from 10am to 2am each night of Haunt!

You mean, like all this land? Disney has the ability to do the major overhaul. I have no doubt WDI could find a way to make it work if that is the route they chose to take. Even if they don't end up moving backstage facilities to that new land, doing what they can internally absolutely can help. Increasing capacity wherever possible (food, retail, queues, etc.) absolutely can make an impact. It's not just about raw square footage...it's how the square footage is being used.

Star Wars in Cedar Fair Parks
Jew replied to CoasterMateo's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That makes sense. Lego Star Wars would never be found in an actual Disney park, so it allows them to make some extra cash while not damaging the brand (because who doesn't like Lego's?!) -
Just started playing again...so much catching up to do! Hope I can get efcot while catching up on all the quests I left behind. Also want to redesign my town...

I'm not sure why everyone thinks this topic would be locked. It was a valid question. -
