  1. I know SFMM uses a local lighting designer.
  2. To each their own. B&M’s are what they are: they look pretty and are reliable, so parks will keep buying them. The 2019 coaster poll results speak to what I am saying: the first B&M comes in at number 11. The next B&M hyper/giga is all the way at 27. Intamin, RMC, and Mack dominate the list since they push the envelope much more
  3. This world. Sure they are awe inspiring to someone who hasn’t seen it before, but for us coaster nerds...you’ve been on 1 B&M Hyper, you’ve practically been on all them. They are still fun, but nowhere near my top 10.
  4. New B&M’s are fun, but nothing spectacular. RMC’s are non stop airtime and forces.
  5. I remember reading somewhere that there would be a themed transport to take you from the hotel into the parks (presumably something like the Hogwarts Express windows on a themed bus), so I also assume they will just make up some story to transport you back from the real world to the hotel.
  6. It seems silly to say that’s great service since its the right thing to do, so many concert ticket holders are stuck holding tickets for concerts that have been “rescheduled” instead of canceled, so kudos to them!
  7. Before this thread derails off course into a COVID discussion, I’ll just keep it simple: everyone should follow their state and local guidelines. This isn’t something up for debate on TPR. Now back to your regularly scheduled BGW discussion.
  8. IPhone 12 Pro in blue
  9. I cant bring myself to pay $20 for SFMM, but I applaud them on trying something unique for the market! The route it takes is surely going to cause some issues from dumb guests with the hills and tree roots that will serve as speed bumps...
  10. I know Orange County is in the red tier. They will be stuck there, since the odds of a population of 3 million that also spans a much larger area than SF with a lower median income (only parts of OC are high income). LA county will forever be purple for that same reason.
  11. The flaw with the tiers is a one size fits all approach. Newsom touted how San Fransisco was able to move into the yellow tier...with a population of 850,000 and a total area of 46 square miles. As well as the highest housing costs in the country and a median income of $130k. So basically, you don’t actually live in San Fran unless you’re a millionaire. Of course they can afford to safely stay home. Totally comparable to Santa Cruz County, with less population (250k), but 445 square miles of land and a median income that is half is much, so people in Santa Cruz actually have to work and travel to get places. Or larger counties like LA county and Orange County, with 10m and 3m people respectively...
  12. That’s a whole new level of unnecessary marketing. Unless they’re still dealing with their payment issues with RMC, might as well just open the ride...
  13. What else are we supposed to discuss right now? There’s excitement for the ride and all we currently have are construction photos and now a testing video.
  14. We would have known because CGA would still have to have filed permits with the FAA for permission to build the ride.
  15. I imagine this will open up a ton of combo ticket options too to get more people in all their doors. Anything to help the industry rebound is good in my book!
  16. Don’t think it’s about number of coasters, it’s about differentiating yourself in a market that includes so many options. My friends see six flags as the roller coaster/thrills park here too, so being able to brag about 20 coasters only reinforces that. Fun fact: outside of Superman, roaring rapids is the second most expensive ride at the park to operate. The pumps draw a ton of power. Jet Stream is in the top 5 as well for the same reason. Would not be the least bit surprised if magic mountain has plans to remove all of them for a water ride that is more energy efficient in the next few years.
  17. If the state sticks to major parks being in the yellow tier, May is optimistic unless an effective vaccine launches before then. less than 1 case per 100k people in a county with a population of 10 million just isn’t feasible right now.
  18. There are other jobs available. Not even close to a fair comparison. And I’m someone who is a causality of this nonsense. The rational argument you should be making is how if the goal is to keep people from congregating and spreading the virus, why isn’t everything shut down? Costco on the weekend is a madhouse. Same for malls. Even Sea World operating as a “zoo” and Knotts as “outdoor dining” being open makes no sense if the goal is to keep people from spreading the virus. What magical powers to rides have to spread the virus?
  19. To be honest, I wouldn’t be surprised if Orange County tries to cook the books so to speak and change the disney occupancies to get under the 15k threshold.
  20. People in so cal are so starved for theme parks, 2020 is probably the only year they could get away with it. Even I’d probably go!
  21. There will most certainly be new owners for some parks when this is all said and done. This has set the industry back 10 years and not all parks will have the cash flow to operate in future years.
  22. From the reviews, it looks like they did a good job with trying to keep it “safe” during these times.
  23. It will stay clean for a grand total of 5 minutes once it reopens.
  24. Thank you for your very valuable contribution to the discussion. Meanwhile my post cited aspects of 2020 that I hope are different in 2021. You know, the topic of the conversation. *shrug* Not going to argue with you. You didn’t need to have such a petty reply since the original comment is relevant to the topic. He didn’t need to reply after. Both of you move on now please.
