  1. Nothing will match the old O'sheas. The new one is supposedly a much scaled down version.
  2. ^Now the PRCA is backing down and saying "they voted to make a counteroffer to Vegas" Sounds like it all may just be a negotiation ploy to try and get that extra $4 million out of Vegas. I'm sure they are hoping the casinos will pile in some extra money to not lose that revenue.
  3. Adam Silver has been Stern's #2 for almost 10 years…I doubt he would reverse course and do something that would be sure to damage the NBA's brand.
  4. One thing I will say is that if Universal continues to add new attractions at the rate they are going, the gap will close. Universal will NEVER be able to offer the complete resort package that Disney can, but if they can just get people to spend 1 more day at Universal than the currently do on their Disney trip…it's a win for them. They'll never be able to match Disney.
  5. Any day during winter break (which starts the 21st) is going to be busy.
  6. If it was any other park chain or company that was operating Magic Mountain, I would have been mad that Deja Vu was removed. Any normal park operator would have reduced its downtime over time as they learn how to operate the ride better, but Six Flags would have just gone for business as usual for years and years. It's better at a seasonal park. Not true at all. Knott's Just shipped off Windseeker because they didn't want to keep trying to find a solution the state would approve. They also took out Windjammer for being terrible. If a ride is a poorly designed ride from the beginning, there is only so much that can be done.
  7. It was a good way to re-purpose the dead space...but I won't be sad to see it go. Especially if it is replaced with an E-ticket.
  8. ^There were reports they were willing to pay $10 million PLUS an ownership share of the Longhorn Network to get Saban...so at least financially that would top what NFL coaches make.
  9. Too bad the problem with the Cowboys *IS* Jerry Jones.
  10. ^^They have a loyal following, but how much of that following will want to pay a higher price to travel to Orlando AND not be able to drink 24/7? I think what it came down to is the county is going to subsidize more than Vegas was willing to fork out.
  11. ^Though to be fair, you are not their target market. I think most locals have come to accept the fact the place is a dump, but don't care as long as they keep churning out new rides at such a low price.
  12. http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/nevada-and-west/national-finals-rodeo-leave-las-vegas This is *HUGE* Vegas news…The Rodeo is one of the biggest cash cows for the city. Room rates go up quite a bit that week, and the hotels are all packed!
  13. What does fast lane actually cost the park? Might as well add it, since it's almost pure profit for the park!
  14. A tuff shed cover doesn't scream "high energy," (the wording from the press release about the area), but I guess it does look like the concept art. I stand corrected about the art part. Better than nothing! And To be fair, it still beats cga's complete lack of shade in their stations. But it really epitomizes what Sfmm is all about: minimal effort to squeeze out as much as they can.
  15. The point is SFMM has a history of extended downtimes that were NOT planned maintenance. X2 and YOLOCoaster are just the latest. So it begs the question: does SFMM just have terrible luck, or are corners being cut somewhere?
  16. There's a difference between temporary downtime (which happens at EVERY park) and having two marquee rides down for extended periods of time that weren't scheduled rehabs (most likely in part because SFMM is too cheap to pay for the parts, but I admit that is just my assumption and not 100% fact), which is still the case for X2 and was the case of YOLOCoaster for a few weeks. IIRC, Goliath and RRv also had extended downtimes while SFMM had to "wait for a part" (lift sprocket I think)?
  17. If you needed to find a bar, the gas lamp district in San Diego is the place to be! The hotel with the nice Xmas lights is also historic: it was built by Ulysses S. Grant's son.
  18. Go Matt Cassel!
  19. They have M&V, which I think their partnership is similar to how Vekoma and RMC's partnership will be. M&V actually builds the rides.
  20. SFMM did this to themselves: it was their press release and concept art that hyped the whole area up.
  21. ^South Carolina has always had top 25 recruiting classes under Spurrier (even ranked higher than Texas last year according to rivals). I do think he would have a better chance of winning the BIG-12 than the SEC, but he would also now have to out gun some of the best offensive minds in the country as well. Would be fun to watch for sure.
  22. ^^I think the Spurrier magic is gone…at least by the standards Texas will be expecting. He dominated with his offense at Florida, but now everyone has some innovative/gimmick offense. South Carolina is certainly much better off than before he arrived, but he has still yet to win the big games for them! I see Charlie Strong ending up at Texas.
  23. A GOOD (read: TPR) POV gives you a good idea of how the ride will be because of all the different views and rider cam. Terrible POV's usually give a good idea, since it shakes so much you can tell how ride really is. The main problem I think is that when parks do their B-roll, it's over produced so you can't really tell.
  24. So they replaced a temporary awning with a tuff shed.
  25. ^Meh. People will still move on pretty quick. Morgan Spurlock had to go from "serious" topics like Super Size Me and the war on terror to the Simpsons, Comic Con, and One Direction to stay relevant!
