For those of you who are hockey fans, Boyd gaming has decided not to renew their lease with the Las Vegas Wranglers of the ECHL at the Orleans Arena. Definitely a bummer. Not sure what The Orleans is going to do to replace those visitors either...

^Here's the Wikipedia map of that whole district: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Tongzhou.png " It is located in southeast Beijing and considered the eastern gateway to the nation's capital. Downtown Tongzhou itself lies twelve miles due east of central Beijing, at the northern end of the Grand Canal (on the junction between the Tonghui Canal and the Northern Canal) and at the easternmost end of Chang'an Avenue."

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: every conference is about the same. The top of every conference is strong, then there is the 2nd tier of teams that can put together a run every now and then, then there is the 3rd tier of the constant 7-6/8-4, and then there is the bottom tier which is crap. The BIG-10 WAS weak this year, because those 2nd tier teams didn't step up their game. Ohio State's loss somewhat shows that. Doesn't take away from MSU being a great team this season. And lets face it, Michigan State is NEVER going to be a high profile team like USC, Ohio State, Michigan, Oklahoma, Texas, Alabama, etc. Doesn't mean they won't be a good to great football team every year (that's what good coaching does), but they will NEVER get the same exposure as those schools. The fact that this was MSU's first Rose Bowl win/appearance in 26 years somewhat proves that. The top rated high school players from anywhere outside of the midwest for the most part aren't going to have Michigan State on their top-5 school lists…but that doesn't mean MSU still won't be a solid program. It will never be an "it" program. Yeah, but I hate that whole vacated win thing. Everyone knows what really happened, so what is the point in trying to pretend those games didn't happen?

Kentucky Kingdom (SFKK, KK) Discussion Thread
Jew replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I love that free uniforms is listed as a job perk. I guess that's a thing in Kentucky? -
^Magic Mountain is like the uncle whose house you go to every year for a holiday dinner only because you feel obligated to do so for the sake of your family. I doubt many people "love" SFMM. BUT, as I've said, it's the only place to go locally if a person enjoys coasters---so it will continue to do decent business as long as they can afford to keep adding rides.

Why not just go in January and March? myVEGAS+4 hour drive=maybe I will go in January and March!

With tOSU's loss, USC will end the BCS era as the team with the most BCS bowl wins and best win percentage in BCS bowls! And that was with the NCAA probation the last four years!

NEWS: Cowabunga Bay coming to Las Vegas!

Hope it's true! Would love to see it open this summer! -
Cedar Fair's stock price is up since Kinzel and Co. nearly destroyed Cedar Fair, but that's an apples to oranges comparison. Knott's was a great family park for many years before Cedar Fair took things off track for awhile. Magic Mountain hasn't been known as family friendly for…30 years? Again, there's no doubt SFMM is a terrible park. That is what happens when you pay your staff so little and don't invest in infrastructure. BUT, will any of us stay away when they build their next large credit? I am guessing the answer is no. They don't have to invest in anything because their business model is based on roller coasters. Everyone just sort of accepts all the crap that comes with those coasters.

^I don't think he's ever been known as a defense guy. He's coached nothing but offense his entire career.

^Stanford lost that game for the same reason they lost to USC: their QB is average and they are stubborn about forcing the run. That fourth down play was seen from a mile away. A&M hasn't played defense all year, which is why I am surprised Sumlin gets mentioned for so many jobs.

I doubt it is that they "don't see the problem." The more accurate description would be "we keep costs down and build rides because that's what our new owners like---the stock price is through the roof since we went back to being a crappy park/chain!" I miss the first few years of Jay Thomas. Towards the end of his tenure, the park was already reverting back to its old ways. Whether that was because he gave up because he couldn't get buy in from his troops, or corporate gave up on their new vision is up for debate.

How dare a business make money!!! Vegas hides its resort fees, airlines publish fares without the fees and taxes, hotels hide their parking fees. Even Buffalo Wild Wings charges for ranch and veggies on their promotion days. We don't like it, but we accept it, and ultimately it doesn't hinder our experience. In the case of SFMM, it's everything else that hinders the experience...

^Same. It's not even a big deal that Peyton Manning set the TD and yardage record because QB's and receivers are so protected now.

William--Did you do this the past year as well? Blowing up stuff is always awesome!
