  1. Well, you know, I am in nursing school, so I know lots of cute, single women...
  2. Soren, I am the queen of bad life decisions, so I won't offer you any advice! What I can offer you, however, is to let you know that my landlord has been an optician with Pearle Vision, here in Florida, for many years. He also travels to Germany every year for vacation! I don't know anything about the visa situation, but I'd be very happy to talk to him for you, to find out about job opportunities.
  3. I love the 1 park/day format, like the Europe trip thread. The only thing I don't like is when a million pictures are on one page. For those of us living in the dark ages of dial-up, that means a lot of timing out, and then right clicking on "show picture." Not a big deal, in the grand scheme of things, though. Hope to upgrade my connection next year. As for the original topic, I also prefer one thread, updated as necessary.
  4. D'oh! I just realized I posted the same picture twice! Oh well. Thanks for the kind words everyone. Soren, those blue frogs are poisonous, and are used to create poison darts. That is where they get the name "dart frog."
  5. We spent a few hours at the Jacksonville Zoo this morning. It was supposed to rain, but it was just a bit cloudy and cool. We arrived right at opening, and pretty much had the place to ourselves. It was great! We headed over to the Range of the Jaguar exhibit. It just opened this year, and we haven't had a chance to really check it out yet. We were very impressed. It is beautifully themed - almost Disney quality. On the way out, we stopped at the giraffe overlook to see the baby giraffes! Hope you enjoyed this little trip to the zoo! This carousel is new, but my kids aren't really carousel fans. Christian did enjoy getting up on this photo spot zebra and hamming it up. Blue dart frogs. Rhiannon loved being this close to the jaguar (or, as she referred to it, "cool cat.") Anteaters are cool. I think the capybaras are cute - like giant guinea pigs. Eventually, they retreated back into the landscaping, but they were with us for quite a while. Then, Mr. FancyFeathers showed up to join the party. She seemed rather pleased with herself. She stole the remnants of my peanut butter sandwich. A few peahens showed up to keep us company. He liked climbing on this little stage area. Christian had been asking to go to the zoo all week. Here is the entrance to Range of the Jaguar. As you can see, it wasn't very crowded.
  6. My initials are "M.O." and I live "in" Atlantic Beach, "AB" M.O. in A.B.
  7. I married my husband at the Metropolitan Museum of Fine Art, so that's a special place for me. Also like walking in Central Park and Greenwich Village. It's cool on a Sunday morning, when everyone is out walking their dogs. We had great huevos rancheros at Mexican Radio. http://www.mexrad.com/ We also had a nice, romantic dinner here, the night before we got married. http://cuisinenet.com/info/?v=237&/New_York_City/rest/627.shtml There are so many amazing restaurants to choose from, it makes your brain hurt. The Galleries in the Forbes building are really cool, and it's free! I think I read somewhere that they sold off the Faberge collection, though. I hope I'm wrong about that, because it was awesome. http://www.forbesgalleries.com/ Have a great time!! Dress warm!!!!!
  8. My cousin Jake is Clint Black's bass player. Sorry, that's the best I can do.
  9. Glad to hear from you. I've been wondering about you!
  10. I'd just like to thank all of you 20-somethings for making those of us nearing the 4-0 mark feel like f*ng fossils.
  11. Awwww, this makes me so homesick for MA!!!! I always loved going to Boston, but hated driving there. One time, we parked under Boston Common, and when we exited to the surface, we were in the middle of a NORML rally. It was very funny.
  12. I go past the Landing to go to work and to go to clinicals at Wolfson, so I probably passed you several times. How often do you come up to Jax?
  13. From the home of the World's Largest Cocktail Party - Go Gators!!!
  14. I'm a registered Democrat, but if there were a Progressive party, I'd switch over in a heartbeat. I voted for Kerry last time, but it was more of a vote against Bush than a vote for Kerry. Obviously, it didn't make a difference anyway.
  15. Never. What's the point? :?

    Orlando Parks

We love Animal Kingdom, but it's definitely a half-day park. Be there when it opens, grab a fastpass for the safari, hit the first show of Festival of the Lion King, skip the train ride and Rafiki's Planet Watch all together. Check out whatever else interests you. Eat at Pizzafari (or at least just walk around and check out all of the murals.) You can be done by 1 PM, easily. With 4 days, I would devote a day each for MK, Epcot, and DS, do the half day at AK, and then use the other half of the day for either MK or Epcot again. Actually, we've never spent a whole day at DS, either, but we have young children who get very impatient with shows, so there's not much there for us to do as a family. Have a great trip and post photos when you get back! Maureen "77 days until we go back to WDW" O'Donnell
  17. For me, it was a toss-up between Ted and Allison, but I had to give the edge to the Allison for using the State Theatre (Minneapolis!) I used to pass by it on my bike every day. Maureen "don't miss riding my bike in the -30 wind chills" O'Donnell
  18. I always check Donkeys and Random, but not in any particular order. Occasionally, I'll check in on Ask Alvey, but since it moves more slowly, I don't check it every visit. I try to check in every day, but my schedule is unpredictable, so sometimes I'm on here several times in one day, and then other times just once or twice a week. I very rarely read beyond the first page. I'll read anything WDW related. I try to read all of the threads started by R & E, and Soren. I'm more of a theme park person than a coaster enthusiast, so I tend to avoid some of the more technical coaster stuff. I've never been in the chat room. I do like to occasionally go back and look at the old photo TRs. I'm living in the dark ages (or, more specifically, the financially-challenged), so I have pokey-old dial-up, which makes it difficult to view anything with large amounts of photos. I try to save the larger photo TRs for when I'm at school, and I just don't bother with the avatar contests (although I do enjoy seeing everyone's avatars in their posts.)
  19. Thoroughly enjoyed that report Ian! Very clever!
  20. Yeah, I'm a little nervous about that. We're meeting with the investigator from a personal injury attorney's office on Friday. I'm not a fan of litigation, but I have to cover my butt. My husband said they were practically drooling over the phone when he told them the details. Apparently, the Jacksonville police department has been having quite a few publicity problems lately, and is eager to settle cases like this quickly. I just hope it doesn't blow up in my face.
  21. I know! The first thing I thought was, "it's a cop - I'm screwed!" But really, there was no denying what happened. I had to stop for someone who stopped in front of me. I had plenty of room to stop. He must not have been paying attention, because he didn't even try to brake. Sorry I didn't have a camera on me! Actually, I was sneaking away from my clinical during lunch (we're not supposed to leave the hospital) so I could print my paper that was due by the end of the day. Can't get more busted than that!
  22. I got rear-ended by an off-duty cop in a squad car and totaled my car on Thursday. Totally the cop's fault - even the officer filing the report said so. I was stopped for someone who pulled out in front of me, and he hit me going about 45 mph, slamming me into the car ahead. Fortunately, I always wear my seat belt, but the air bag did a number on my nose and forehead. I also sustained a concussion and some minor soft-tissue damage in my left shoulder. It could have been much, much worse. I felt pretty horrible the past few days, but am starting to feel better now. Until I have to start taking the bus to work, and begging people for rides to school again. Grrrrrr.
  23. Damn! I'd kill for some Reese's Pieces right now! Grrrrr.... Maureen "just started a diet yesterday" O'Donnell
  24. I actually like the name Phinneus. It's not weird, just old-fashioned. I love the nickname Phin (or Fynn, like Soren's brother.)
