  1. Is that the blue glass building right on I-4, with the incomplete, open, parking-garage-ish lower levels? We've been passing by that for years, and have always wondered what the deal is with it! As for HLE, I don't think it's a bad concept, but I agree they need to get some excitement and fun in there. We're in the Jacksonville area, and this is MAJOR Bible belt land. There are plenty of churchy lafemmes around here that would go there repeatedly, if they offered more in the way of fun.
  2. You're definitely not alone on this, Robb. I do want to get to Disneyland/DCA, someday, just because I've never been there, but this ride doesn't particularly interest me. We've been on the Epcot Nemo ride several times, and I'm claustrophobic, so the whole Nemo sub thing is not something I'd be racing to try. Meh.
  3. OMG! I had no idea!!!! It's been many years, since I've been out there. My sister-in-law used to work here, when she and my brother were dating. I spent quite a bit of time here, in the late 1970's. Is the Whale's Tale restaurant still on Hampton Beach? I worked there in the summer of 1988. Inevitable, I suppose. Eventually, the entire coast will be nothing but luxury homes and condos.
  4. Yikes! It's not for the claustrophobic, is it? Great report, Jahan! I've never been farther west than Minnesota. I need to get to Disneyland, someday!
  5. Never had a Dole Whip in Hawaii, but I've had one at Magic Kingdom, and I have to say they are highly overrated, in my opinion. Pineapple flavored soft serve. Big deal. I do like the pineapple floats, but it's still nothing I'd go out of my way for.
  6. I can drive a stick, but I get claustrophobic just looking at those pictures of you all strapped into the car. I would have a massive panic attack before I ever got to that point!
  7. Fun report! It gave me some much needed laughs on a slow night, here at work! Loved the walrus signs.
  8. Great report! I used to go to races and theme parks with my dad when I was growing up. In fact, the two times I've been to Cedar Point were both on trips with my dad. Good memories.
  9. Another great report! We were supposed to go to Hershey last summer, but had to cancel due to scheduling and financial difficulties. Maybe next year. at the chocolate dipped squirrel!
  10. Congratulations! What a great honeymoon trip. Your food pictures have me drooling. The Pop-Tart I just ate pales in comparison. We never had a honeymoon - got married on a whim, during a long weekend in Manhattan. (Not recommended, BTW, but 8 1/2 years and three kids later, we're still )
  11. Hey Jow - Once this is all said and done, I think it would make a great story for your local media. They always love these "incompetent government agency" stories.
  12. As a Disney fan who has never been to Universal, I agree 100%. All the bashing back and forth is completely unnecessary. We go to Disney because our children are very young, and we love it. When they are a little bit older, we'll start taking them to Universal, too. We're not into the Harry Potter stuff at all. My son is almost old enough for it, now, but I don't think he'd really get into it. My daughter is only 4, but I think she would love it, when she's a few years older. I'm glad to see Universal ramping it up, because the other parks will take the challenge. Everybody wins! One thing I haven't really seen discussed in this thread is Rowling's reputation for being a control freak. I wonder how much say she has in all of this? Although I would imagine that Universal wouldn't be going forward with the project if she had the power to make life miserable for them. Just curious.
  13. ^^No, they pretty much grate on your nerves when it's your own child, screaming, too!
  14. Beautiful photos of one of my favorite places! Love the concept and the captions, too. Great job! Thanks for sharing.
  15. We drove up to visit friends in Chattanooga, last summer. It is very pretty! We had a great time at the Farmers' Market, downtown - they were featuring live bluegrass music.
  16. The seagulls are relatively new. They just went up last fall, with the new Nemo ride. They're great! They shout out randomly - it's fun to watch people discovering them, for the first time.
  17. Congratulations Maureen! I can't wait to get back to WDW, so much has changed since I was last there. Stitch, Monsters Inc (duh), Tiki Room, I haven't even ridden Pooh yet! As long as it's been since I was in Florida, it's been even longer since I was at WDW, and even longer than THAT since I was at MK so... I need to get back. Thanks, Lou! Hope you'll be able to travel to Florida soon! Erik - great photos and captions! "Convoy" made me spit out my tea. Robb - you're not the only one who doesn't mind the Epcot wand. It doesn't bother me, at all, and my kids love it. We all love Epcot, too. There's such a wide variety of things to do and see, and yet we find it to be a very relaxing park, too. We like the Gran Fiesta Tour. El Rio del Tiempo was one of my 4 year old's favorite attractions - she called it "Epcot Small World." I kind of miss the vendors at the end, but the kids love the Three Caballeros, so it has been a big hit with them. Sorry to see that Kristen has to endure the snot sucker. Hope she is feeling better, soon.
  18. We would have been at MK, too, but my 6 year old hasn't been feeling well, so we're going next week (hopefully.) After countless trips over the past three years, I finally saw the "new" Tiki show two weeks ago. It's an abomination. I'm enjoying the reports on KT's first theme park experiences. We're expecting our third child in late October/early November, so we'll be hitting WDW with him/her (find out in three weeks) before Christmas!
  19. I can confirm Dave's info. You can use a regular extension cord in camp site electrical hook-ups. We like to bring our coffee maker! I've never been camping in PA, but I've been camping in MN, VT, and MA. If you are going to be in a wooded area, there will probably be bugs. Bring Off, just to be sure. Campgrounds that I'm aware of have tent facilities. Otherwise, they're usually referred to as RV parks. I would check with the park, to be sure, but they should have showers and bathrooms. The only ones I have been to that didn't were designated as "rustic" camping. Sounds like a fun trip - looking forward to your report!
  20. We picked out our daughter's name the day before she was born - Rhiannon Marcella. (Marcella is my mother's name.) Amazingly, both of those names, which I thought were so unusual, have already been suggested! (Not that I was going to suggest them, just surprised that others have.) Although I just read through this entire thread, I can't remember if this has been suggested yet. Kathlyn - similar to Katherine, but different and very pretty with Alvey. Probably won't find it on a souvenir, though. That's all I've got, for now!
  21. Another MIA TPR member (new career, pulled kid out of school and started homeschooling, blah, blah, blah) checking in to say congratulations! Hoping you have a smooth rest of your pregnancy and delivery!
  22. OK, this is what I get for not spending much time on TPR the past couple of months - not only were we at AK on Saturday morning, not only were we at MK Saturday evening, but if this photo had been a little more to the left, we would be in it!!!!! We were just to the left of that little building at this performance of Cinderellabration! ARRRRGGHHHH!!!! Oh well, glad you all had a great time!
  23. I really should be studying and/or writing a paper, but I couldn't resist the temptation of a Robb and Elissa TR! Thanks for a thoroughly entertaining diversion. Maureen "8 weeks until graduation" O'Donnell
  24. Yes, Julie has many talents. You should check out her trip reports! 8)
  25. Wow! I can't believe they have Clarisse!!!!
