^ I was a little bit confused when I first saw it, about a couple of things, but after seeing it the second time, it made more sense. What exactly confused you about it? It might be the same stuff that got me.
-
^Well, that's primarily the fault of Fox's marketing department. They're the ones who flashed images of the Space Jockey, and had the familiar siren sound from the old Alien trailer in the Prometheus trailer. Ridley had nothing to do with it at all, of course, but it basically got people hyped up for a movie they wouldn't see, basically.

^ I'm not sure if there will be a sequel. A lot of folks have come to this movie expecting Alien, and got disappointed big time. I personally liked it a lot, but it's a little more cerebral than the average summer film, and audiences by and large don't seem to have the patience for that anymore...besides, if there was one, the studio would probably force them to put Sigourney in it somehow.

Seriously bad theme park days
Movieguy replied to caffeine_demon's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
While it was still a good day, I was kinda miffed at the last time I was at Hersheypark, mainly because of how they were running Storm Runner. It took forever to actually get on the ride, because of this silly rule that makes them wait until one train has made the complete circuit before sending out the next one...kinda defeats the whole purpose of having extra trains...then on my second wait, the ride broke down...I thought "f*** this, I'm going to lightning racer" and then left the line. I shudder to think of how crowded and slow this park is going to get these days, now that Skyrush is open. Another rough time was when we went to WDW in 99, and my Mom got food poisoning. She was able to enjoy the final day with us at Epcot, but still, that really sucked. -
Theme Park Review's Italy 2012 Tour!
Movieguy replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This is a very well-themed park from what I can tell, and hopefully it'll continue to grow from here...it kinda reminds me of Spain's Terra Mitica, only this one is still open, and it has better coasters. -
Theme Park Review's Italy 2012 Tour!
Movieguy replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Very true. That was from Italy's pre-christian era, obviously, but I guess old habits die hard. hmmm...I'll bet some of their descendants live in my town, currently. Here, it seems if you're not going 20 over the speed limit, you're going too slow. -
Theme Park Review's Italy 2012 Tour!
Movieguy replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Love that Dark ride POV. Italy's always been great at scaring and horrifying people. Just look at all the suspenseful and gruesome horror movies that have come out of Italy over the years, like Cannibal Holocaust, which was so realistic, that the director had to bring his actors into a courtroom to prove he didn't kill them on the set. It's strange, when you consider how religious this country is as well, being the home of the Vatican and all. I guess they're just more open to facing death as a part of life than other developed countries. -
Best Drop Ride!!!
Movieguy replied to coaster_shorty's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ Anytime I think of the 1st gen Intamin drop rides, I think of that one Robb rode in Japan's Central Park, that f***ed him up pretty good. -
Best Drop Ride!!!
Movieguy replied to coaster_shorty's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You know, I've never been on a drop ride. When I was younger, I was just too jumpy, and didn't like the idea of being stuck on top of something for god knows how long before falling at a time I couldn't predict...but now I'm older, and take stuff for my anxiety, so I may give it a try when the time comes. As for appearances, I'd say Blue Fall at Japan's Sea Paradise looks the most impressive. -
B&M vs Intamin
Movieguy replied to alpengeistdude321's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well, B&M certainly has made some great, smooth, and thrilling coasters over the years, but Intamin takes a lot more chances, and know how to go with what works. They've not only created some of the best steelies, but a few of the best woodies as well with their prefab technology. B&M has become rather complacent in recent years, becoming a Vekoma unto itself with its cloned designs all over the place (Case in point, Sheikra and "Dive Coaster".) Maybe that'll change with the new one opening at Dollywood. We'll have to wait and see. For now, Intamin has the clear edge with both quality and innovation. -
I know people have mentioned Japanese coaster names...what about the collection of generic coaster names at Nagashima Spaland?
-
Don't forget, that it brings you "orgiastic scream!"
-
Case in point: "Super Speed Cool Cool Bear...Come on! Don't hesitate!"
-
Yeah, I don't go for hotel breakfasts. It's a good thing the one I'm staying at in Bloomsburg has a Cracker Barrel nearby. That's where I had my Birthday breakfast last year.
-
Here here. Whenever I'm driving to the park I'm visiting for the summer, I always make it a point to go through a McDonalds for a couple of sausage and egg biscuits and some hash browns. Never really been a fan of their non-breakfast items, apart from the fries.

Ride of steel is definitely lame. With all the natural beauty of Upstate, they could have taken inspiration for a better name. How about Drop Tower instead of Drop Zone as well? Oh, and instead of Eejanaika, how about we find out what the japanese phrase for "F*** this ride!" (As Robb so eloquently put it) is, so we can call it that instead?

Robb & Elissa's Big Gay New York City Trip!
Movieguy replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I just wanna grab that guy by the collar and say "People like you make me ashamed of having this show on my Netflix!" Doug "I like the show, but I don't publicly advertise...and leave the toys for the kids!" Booth -

No, no, I get your humor just fine. I was just being silly. Doug "I'm more prone to tease people here than in real life for some reason." Booth -

^ See? I'm a straight guy who loves musicals, and Coasterbear is a gay guy who can't stand them. It takes all kinds, people. -
Fun Spot America Discussion Thread
Movieguy replied to jedimaster1227's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This looks like a really exciting prospect for Florida, and GCI's already impressive arsenal of coasters...let's just hope the park doesn't let it go to s***, the way Busch apparently did with Gwazi (Only basing that on what I've heard.) -
Robb & Elissa's Big Gay New York City Trip!
Movieguy replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm not ashamed to admit it. I love Broadway, and I love showtunes. I just got sing in a huge salute to Broadway concert a few weeks ago, where I got to sing solos for both "Sunrise, Sunset" from Fiddler on The Roof, and "Do You Hear The People Sing?" from Les Mis. I'm also performing in The Pirates of Penzance late next month. Go ahead and think I'm gay for liking this. They all thought my Dad was gay too. Anyway, great TR! The Pizza tours are something I simply MUST do upon my next visit to NYC. And I see that Elissa and my Mom both have the same favorite hotel in the area.
