Yeah, I think you're right now. Plus, the fact that they signed a new contract with Cutch, instead of letting him go to another team, like they used to do with star players in the past, may be a sign of things to come...hopefully.

My sister got her Pre-ordered copy of Prometheus on Blu Ray yesterday, and I borrowed it last night. We saw this in the theater together and loved it. Without spoiling anything, it's a very cerebral film, compared to a lot of others that came out this summer, and its also very well presented, and well acted, particularly by Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, and Noomi Rapace. Plus it has once scene that I think rivals the Chestburster scene from Alien in its discomfort and horror factor, IMO. By the very end, my sister and I were abuzz with discussions on what the themes and events of the film meant, and could potentially lead to, along with the design of the creatures, of course. This is a movie that, I think, gets unfairly "shatnered" upon, as the folks at Galactic Watercooler like to say. It wasn't perfect, and it wasn't as good as Alien, but still, it's a great film on its own, and I think time will vindicate it from the nitpickers. Between this and The Dark Knight Rises, Frankly, I think my fellow geeks' standards and expectations have gone to unreasonably high levels in recent years, and almost no new movie can ever fulfill them. How The Avengers escaped the attack of the nitpickers is a mystery I've yet to solve. Also, I checked out the deleted/alternate scenes, and there was so much here that could have worked really well, had it been left in the final product. One thing about Ridley Scott that drives me nuts, is that he's constantly second-guessing himself on his material. Great examples of this are the mutliple cuts of Blade Runner, the deleted cocoon scene from Alien, and the mind-boggling decision to cut Jerry Goldsmith's mesmerizing score from Legend, replacing it with Tangerine Dream. Anyway, I give Prometheus a solid 4 out of 5 stars.

^ Simply put Yankees = ratings. At least that's how the networks see it. I always notice that any World Series that doesn't have the Yankees or the Red Sox in it, is always called "The Lowest Rated World Series Ever!"
-
^^ And your Giants ended up getting Barry Bonds, whose father played for the Giants, from the Pirates. Though I was sad to see him go, I knew he was unhappy in Pittsburgh, and it's always nice to see the son follow the father to the same team in these cases. Anyway, at least we've got Cutch now, and he's under a new contract. Who knows, maybe he'll be the one to finally turn things around for the Buccos as his experience grows. It may seem like masochism to hope for this team, but deep down, there's a part of me that always will...even if other parts of me tend to say senseless things. What can I say? Aspies are complex folks.

I feel really crappy for what I posted. Sorry for getting heated like that yesterday. I've been sick for the past few days, and I wasn't in the best of moods at the time. Of course I'm behind the Pirates, I've always been. A lot of what I've said lately has been out of frustration, more than anything. It's just that after this long, I just have this horrible feeling that our day in the sun will never come, and that the franchise will fold or move to a Southern city before anything good happens. I can understand the pain of never winning a world series, but to never have a winning season at all in 20 consecutive years...it hurts. It makes me really sad, and it makes me want to stop paying attention to baseball altogether, even though I know I never will.
-
20 straight years of losing seasons...20 YEARS! You really think that even the most diehard fan can put up with that crap? Do you? At least the Cubs have had winning seasons in their pennant drought, and the Red Sox were able to make the playoffs during the curse of the Bambino. What the hell do you know? What do you know, unless you've been in my shoes, or any Pirate fan's shoes? I've been waiting and hoping since I was 12 to finally see these guys winning, only to see it fall apart again and again, and see my team remain a laughingstock in mlb. Nobody can understand our pain, NOBODY! Call me a fucking frontrunner and a ship jumper? Fine. I really don't care about the braves, to tell you the truth. I'm just mad, and confused, and I want to do something, anything, to protest management and the owner for letting my team suck so badly for all these years.
-
Whoops. Didn't realize it was a play-in, I thought the playoffs had already started. Silly me Still, the Braves will bounce back from BS like this. Unlike the Pirates, you know there's always hope for next year. Go ahead and call me a fair weather fan. After 20 years of shitty weather, I think Pirates fans have a right to move on to greener pastures.
-
^ Oh, that was just one game. It'll only hurt them if they let it. As for Hurdle, I'll admit he's led them to better records, but that still doesn't excuse two straight late-season collapses for me.

Well, it's official...20 years of futility for the Pirates. Watching the Pirates this year, as one blogger put it, was like having your girlfriend suddenly break up with you, and as she's walking out the door, turns around and kicks you in the nuts. On top of this, the GM and the Manager both get to keep their jobs...unbelievable. I told you all before, this is the curse of Barry Bonds at work once again. I mean, how else do you go from being near the top of the NL central, to suddenly not being able to beat the Padres or the Brewers? My Granddad gave up on this team long before his death, and it's about time I did the same. I have fond memories of watching the Braves with him on TBS, so I think I'll be pulling for the ATL in the playoffs this year. As for the Succos, they're not going anywhere as long as Bob Nutting owns them. A collapse like that, and you don't fire the manager or the GM? Inexcusable. If someone comes to me next year and says they're doing well, I'll respond, "Don't worry, they'll blow it."

Ever since I saw this, the following song has been running through my head. -
Jealousy is only natural after all the awesome things the Yankees have done.
-
^ Yeah, I'm sure the Yankees won all those world series' rings solely on talent.
-
^ Look at it this way...1992, the last time the Pirates had a winning season...Barry Bonds, who had a lot of bad experiences with the team, left soon after, and the team has not had a winning season since. It's the curse of Barry Bonds. It's like the curse of the Bambino, only a hundred times worse. I think the management ought to arrange a public apology, along with some money to hopefully break this curse. The Pirates owner is actually the 10th richest owner in the majors. He won't spend anything on the team, of course, but that's another matter.
-
You know what the difference is between the Pirates and a mosquito? Eventually the mosquito will STOP SUCKING! These guys are a disgrace to Pittsburgh, and are in no way deserving of such a beautiful stadium. And until these guys get an owner whose interested in more than pocketing money from the luxury tax, I don't see their fortunes changing anytime soon. The Pirates are a cursed franchise, the most cursed in all sports, and this season confirms it. But worst of all, is that in the past two years, they have let their fans hope and hope that things will change, only to COLLAPSE at the end. Well, all the other fans are tired of it, and so am I. If you're going to keep killing us with these endless losing seasons, save us all the suffering and fold, right now. I'd rather that Pittsburgh not have a baseball team then for the city of my parents to suffer this humiliation year after year. I don't have a favorite team anymore. Screw them. They're not gonna burn me like this anymore.
-
Dear god, the Pirates are really giving me heartburn now. They were on track to having their first winning season in decades, and now they're losing to teams like the Padres and the Brewers! Yes, they're still over 500 now, but mark my words, the way its going now, a monumental collapse is in effect, and they WILL end the season with yet another losing record. Its just like when the Red Sox kept blowing the World Series all those years back, only much worse. Ladies in gentlemen, this is the curse of Barry Bonds in full effect.

It's a good thing, for Joey's sake, that they didn't add a new set of monkey bars to the park. Anyway, neat looking coaster. -

It seems that the only thing that's going to satiate the CP fanboys is yet another Intamin giant-hill launcher that makes you black out 5 seconds into it. Am I the only one who doesn't care about the height or "force" of a coaster? As long as its a fun ride, I'm game, and Gatekeeper looks like its gonna be a hell of a fun ride. I love a steelie where inversions are the biggest focal point. -
When it comes to the original Phantom, everyone knows Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman, but what about the original Raoul, Steve Barton? Unfortunately, I discovered that Barton died very suddenly of heart failure in 2001. He was 47, and had been in Germany, performing the role of Count Von Krolock in Roman Polanski and Jim Steinman's "Tanz Der Vampire." which was going to be brought to the US before his untimely death. I happened to find a video of him performing the role, with subtitles. I'm convinced that if he had lived to perform this role in America, he would have easily won a Tony, and become a Broadway superstar in his own right.

Sorry to double post, but I recently had an idea...what if somebody took Starlight Express, and changed it to a show about roller coaster trains racing each other. Imagine the story of an underdog woodie train, proving his worth against the steelies.

Let me change my suggestion from yesterday...lets say GCI could come in and not only retrack the Beast, but also replace the old trains with their awesome millennium flyers. Imagine one of those with the Beast Logo on the front. -

Here's an idea...instead of a new coaster, why not have GCI come in and fix up Beast, like I heard they're doing for the Coney Island Cylcone. -

Well, I hear that Beast has been trimmed to hell, and now very rough in its own right. Racer and Woodstock express, I never hear anything about. Forgive my KI ignorance. -

I never rode this coaster, but from all I've heard, it's good to know that this RCCA-made abomination is finally going to be erased from existence. As for the replacement, It better not be something too unorthodox. Somebody here once said that KI seems to focus more on innovation than on rider comfort. To me, anything from Intamin would be good. Maybe an plug-n-play woodie, so that this park would finally have a rideable wood coaster.
