Gene Staples to the rescue? https://buffalonews.com/business/local/chicago-amusement-park-owner-is-close-to-a-deal-on-fantasy-island-town-says/article_7cf823d8-b299-11eb-be97-ab2a8bb9181e.html#tracking-source=home-top-story-1 Fantasy Island could make a comeback after all. The owner of amusement parks in Indiana and New Jersey is close to finalizing a deal to lease the Grand Island property from owner STORE Capital, according to Grand Island Town Supervisor John Whitney. Fantasy Island revivalists are big on plans, short on details Whitney said he spoke Tuesday morning with theme park owner Gene Staples, who told him he is in the process of leasing the park. He also spoke with a representative from real estate investment trust STORE Capital who confirmed the news, he said. Staples and STORE are still negotiating the long-term lease, Whitney said. "It’s not done as far as I know, but it’s getting close," Whitney said. "It's very, very promising. We're a lot further than we were before." -

Well, there is a NYT article today that said outdoor transmission is less than 1% and maybe less than 0.1%, if it makes anyone feel better -

Empire Adventures is officially disbanded https://buffalonews.com/business/local/fantasy-island-revivalists-are-big-on-plans-short-on-details/article_e576cc48-a696-11eb-b24a-97081b018dfe.html#tracking-source=home-top-story-1 Black Bart is out. Marshall Dan is standing by. And those dreaming of a reopened Fantasy Island are still millions of dollars away from seeing it happen. Last summer, a group of former Fantasy Island workers formed a company called Empire Adventures and announced its hopes to reopen the park, restoring a beloved Grand Island institution. But that group, led by former Wild West shootout star Bill "Black Bart" Baldwin, seems to have disbanded. Now, former Fantasy Island maintenance worker Jay Wilcox, who stepped away from Empire Adventures, is moving forward with a Connecticut amusements operator in order to keep the dream alive. -
If you ever met me in real life (spoiler alert: no one here will), you'd see that I am far from an enthusiast nerd. But I'll give you my best guess at an answer to your question. I would think that there's a service contract involved with an install, but I'm not in a position to say that definitively. Much like a car warranty. Would make sense to me.

There are no rides except for Silver Comet and a broken Ferris Wheel. The waterslides and wave pool werent winterized so theyre likely shot too. -

Theyre out of their minds. Reminds me of the time people with pickup trucks wanted to relocate Geauga Lake's Big Dipper. These people have zero idea how much money its going to cost just to clean up and restore whats left, much less bring back rides. Spoiler alert.... its probably in the 10's of millions. They started a GoFundMe and raised less than $3k. All theyre doing is creating false hope with the idiot public who thinks its going to be like flipping a switch. -

I went to Great Wolf Lodge in Mason the day before NYE and it was the same way. Some normalcy felt good. -

Drew Brees has a plan for New Orleans long-abandoned Six Flags The plan from Brees and Saints LB Demario Davis would transform the old site into learning centers, including farms that help kids learn about urban agriculture. Author: Paul Dudley / Eyewitness News Published: 10:24 PM CDT March 16, 2021 Updated: 10:24 PM CDT March 16, 2021 NEW ORLEANS — The old Six Flags, long abandoned since Hurricane Katrina, might have new life. A top contender being considered to redevelop the site is recently retired quarterback Drew Brees and current Saint's linebacker Demario Davis, according to District E Councilmember Cyndi Nguyen, who represents New Orleans East. “I am really excited,” Nguyen said. “We got three amazing proposals on the table for us.” According to Nguyen, a committee looked at several different plans for the 227-acre park and graded them on a list of factors including financial backing. The proposal that scored the highest was a partnership between Kiernan West LLC from Colorado and S.H.I.E.L.D., a non-profit with Brees, Davis and Buffalo Bills cornerback Josh Norman. The Brees plan will transform the old site into learning centers, including farms that help kids learn about urban agriculture, Nguyen said. The second plan by local group Situs Development wants to build an RV Park, a water park and big box stores and a similar plan by TKTMJ wants to see another amusement park and a travel center. We asked Nguyen which proposal she prefers. “While I think all three are wonderful, I think for me since day one I've always believed that the 227 acres is really best used as a family entertainment center,” Nguyen said. Nguyen says city officials are going to explore the three plans and make a final decision in the coming months. https://www.wwltv.com/amp/article/news/local/orleans/drew-brees-has-a-plan-for-new-orleans-long-abandoned-six-flags/289-f8240288-1f65-43ab-9848-07fe248a32db -
Well some good eats arent open yet, like 'Ohana, Takumi Tei, Monsieur Paul and Tusker House, but those arent deal breakers, at least for me. Chances are fireworks wont be back yet, but I think if you go during the week in early June you'll be fine with wait times. Northern schools arent out yet and locals come out more on the weekend.
